Although the area is not noisy and allow you to rest by night. Other attractions in the neighborough are "Macro" (Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome), "Eataly" (a high-end Italian food market/mall chain) and the "Pyramid Cestius". After a nice stroll along the Lungotevere you also get to Trastevere and other historical attractions like Circo Massimo, Bocca della Verità. Colosseo is 20 walking minutes away. If you prefer transports, right down the street there are buses and tram for any direction, Testaccio is one of the most connected areas in Rome, and at 500mt there is the underground line Metro B and the train station (Porta S.Paolo - Piramide/Ostiense).

Very well located, only 7-8 min walking distance from the Piramide subway station. The pictures are reflecting the reality.
Mattia's studio is located in a very good location with easy access to public transport, supermarkets and good food. The pizzeria recommended is definitely worth a visit! Good communication and easy check-in by Mattia's friend, Agnese.
Nice appartment in the middle of Testaccio. The only thing which was annoying after 2 out of 7 days the internet connection broke down and can not be fixed.
Other than that a good place to stay for people who do not mind to go up in the 5th floor by feet :-)
Thanks. For the wifi, as all the other guests can confirm, you should have texted me. Sometimes there are interruptions of the service and I am able to solve them in a couple of hours. You had my number, next time just use it ;) regarding the stairs, Rome's center is famous for ancient buildings, so when it's not declared otherwise, you have to expect it. Hope next time you will enjoy more...cheers
This 5th floor Testaccio apartment was located in a very nice neighberhood near all historical places (15-20 min of walk). It was clean and well equiped. I would definately recommand it.
Mattia's apartment is in a strategical region near most of the interesting spots in Rome - without the flocks of tourists wandering around, which is perfect. It's nice and homely, a no-frills apartment that will make you feel as if you're staying at a friend's place. We loved the suggested bars and restaurants in the neighborhood. And there's a supermarket just across the street. It was a really good overall experience.
I had a very nice stay in this apartment. Its location is excellent, It is close the metro and I was able to walk everywhere. It is surrounded by very nice restaurants and it has a supermarket within a 5 minutes’ walk. The apartment has everything you'll need during your stay. Mattia was very kind, and helpfully. I recommend staying here, you won't regret it!
We stayed in Mattia's top floor studio apartment for 7 nights in August 2013. A quick tip for travellers in August - some of the best restaurants in this area may be closed as it is holiday season! We were very fortunate and found good places to eat when we wanted them.
The location of the flat was perfect for us. If you enjoy great local restaurants, and a few bars, within a few minutes walk from your flat, then this is the place. Helpfully Mattia and Agnese left us with a list of recommendations, and their tips were great. It was a relief to come back from the touristy areas of Rome to more affordable and higher quality restaurants. Testaccio is also very safe, and there are no merchants hassling you there!
Our standard morning trip was to walk from the flat, past the Circus Maximus, and into Rome via the Colloseum. At a reasonable pace it would take you no more than half an hour, and it is a nice walk - certainly not an inconvenience. Alternatively, there are bus stops very close by which can be used to skip that initial journey. If you are like us, and enjoy good food, the area called Trastavere is a close neighbour to Testaccio - another quick walk.
The facilities in the flat, for the cost, were great. You have access to a neat little kitchen (with nibbles left by the hosts, to which we were very grateful!) which has basics like coffee, tea, oil, as well as a full accompaniment of cutlery, dishes, and cooking equipment. There is also a small dining area. The bathroom is fairly big and clean, with a good water system (make sure you use the switch on the wall to turn the water heater on for hot water!) and shower.
Our only frustrations were minor - we had a little problem with the internet, which was most likely because of the network provider, but Mattia was helpful in checking this for us. We also managed to collapse one of the chairs (sorry!) and couldn't work out how to assemble the other (perhaps also broken from previous guests?).
Our final frustration was with the air conditioning unit, which was great to have in the flat, but a bit of an inconvenience to use.
It is a standalone unit with a funnel at the back, which pipes out the hot air - this needs to poked out of the window for the unit to function properly, so you need to leave a window open at night to leave it running (we absolutely had to at night - so very warm in August), and let the noise in with it (a few scooters going past, and other usual city noises).
Other than these minor points, we would return to the flat again, as it is great for the price, and in a lovely area. Thanks Mattia!
Excellent location only issue was the internet,, it dropped out and we couldn't reconnect.
We stayed at Mattia's apartment for 5 nights in July. The neighbourhood seemed nice enough, though it's not in the center of the action. It's fairly close to the Metro and a train station, so you don't need to take a bus, but we eventually wanted to as the metro stops in Rome are rather spread out.
The apartment was a good size (huge bathroom), modern, very clean and had tons of storage space. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook for ourselves, and there were even a few croissants left for our first breakfast.
The laundry machine, air conditioner and internet all worked great, although we had to rig up some way of letting the air conditioner vent out the window, while trying to keep the window as far closed as possible, which wasn't easy. Air conditioning in Rome was essential, and we were very glad to have it!
Mattia was a super host. Although we never met him, he was in constant contact via email making sure we got checked in ok and telling us about good restaurants in the neighbourhood. He was extremely accommodating with our reservation, allowing us to leave our things in the apartment when we went to a wedding out of town.
A couple things you'll want to know: the apartment is in Scala C (not B, as the address indicates). Also, as the listing says, it's on the 4th floor with no elevator. To be clear: there are a LOT of stairs - it feels like 8 floors rather than 4 - and it is very hot in Rome. Dragging our luggage up those stairs was almost an impossible feat. You need to be prepared for that.
That said, I would definitely stay at Mattia's again as the apartment itself was very impressive and once you get up there, you have lovely air conditioning.
I had a great stay!!
The location is the best (very close to the city centre and the travestere, and it is much more a typical roman area rather than a touristic one..!!), and the host is really nice and helpful.
