Is this place for real?! You have discovered a truly relaxing oasis nestled in the woods. This is a wonderful healing, private relaxing retreat in the heart of the National Columbia Gorge Scenic area with a fantastic view of the Columbia River. Close to hiking, biking, skiing, kite boarding, fishing and sailing.
This is an adults only listing. NO KIDS PLEASE. Dogs YES:)
You will have:
* Your own 700 square foot private suite
* Full living room (The couch pulls out into a queen bed for extra guests. See $20 charge for extra guests beyond 2.)

* Kitchenette - with hot plate, microwave and small stainless fridge.

* Hawaiian Lomi massage chair with 17 different massage settings so you can sit back and relax by the fire while getting a massage. * Laundry room is also available for use but we will need to teach you a trick on how to use the washer but please just ask.
Also on the property is a sauna, a nap nest a stones throw from year round creek that is on property and a walking garden. You have a private porch with a view of the fantastic gorge and the Columbia river. There are 2 fire pits, a gas grill and walking gardens with herbs and fruit for you to cook with. Please read all of our reviews from the last 4 years, we are very proud of our reviews.
You can sit on the porch with a view of the Columbia River while you are barbecuing, drinking a cold pint or local wine you can hear Kanaka Creek which IS on property only 200 feet away(see pics). Just follow the bark chip path to the creek and the nap nest ( see pics). Please walk down to the stream with your tea, coffee, wine or beer. Feel free to tour the garden and pick the fruit, herbs and veggies for your cooking enjoyment.
Our goal is for this to feel like your own private sanctuary away from it all in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, a year-round recreational area. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the view.
To be clear, we live above you and we also rent out a "glamping in the Gorge" tipi on our 3 acre property. Chris and I live upstairs so we are on site to help with any questions or local suggestions. The two living quarters are separated by locked door so it is very separate and private.
We are only 1.7 miles from the town of Stevenson with wonderful restaurants, 3 breweries, wine tasting room, Skamania Lodge Golf Course and gift shops. Wind surfing, kite boarding, hiking, stand up paddle boarding, biking, sailing, wine tasting and fishing anywhere is the Gorge and come home (email hidden) he wood stove or a in the open air fire pit. We are 10 min from a huge number of amazingly beautiful hikes, mountain biking trails, fishing, waterfalls and hot springs and spas.
We have 3 friendly dogs that will not be invited into your living quarters without your permission. Dogs and dog lovers are welcome! We allow our very friendly dogs to roam the property at their will, so please only bring friendly dogs.
The Retreat in the Gorge has been known to motivate artists creative juices -weather you are a musician, writer or painter the Retreat in the Gorge will settle your soul and cultivate your creativity.
As for outside fun we supply a dart board, bocce and badminton. We also supply two growlers from the two award winning local breweries that you can fill up and enjoy. There is also a gas grill on the porch for you to BBQ. Coffee and tea are available but breakfast is not included.

**Please email an inquiry about your dates even if the calender says it is not available. Sometimes we can switch things around.
Also- we do live above you with three dogs. There have been no complaints about this and we are conscious you will be below us but, do not expect complete silence. We are very quiet, mellow and go to bed early.
**ALSO, CONSIDER BOOKING OUR "GLAMPING IN THE GORGE" SITE AS WELL IF YOU HAVE A BIG GROUP or wedding. THEN YOU WILL HAVE THE WHOLE PROPERTY TO ENJOY FOR A CELEBRATION, wedding
OR FAMILY REUNION.**** We are also open to hosting a large event on our property if you would like to rent out the whole house and property for a reunion, family gathering or wedding. ****

** Winter guests: We are 1000 feet in elevation and recommend good tires when it snows, which is rare, because we live on a hill. **
It is 100% up to the guests. We have had guest throughout the years that we have become great friends with, shared meals with and have come back again and again and others that would prefer to be left alone. It is very important to us to take the lead from the guest on interaction. We will sense from you what kind of interaction you are wanting.
The Columbia River Gorge offers the best of outdoor activities including camping, hiking, biking, golf, whitewater rafting and kayaking, windsurfing and kiteboarding, boating, bird watching, photography, downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing – the list is endless. Indoor options are also readily available with world-class museums, wine tasting, superb dining opportunities, shopping and spa services. There is truly something for everyone in the Columbia River Gorge.
The home sits on 3 aches with a stream on the property and a view of the Columbia river with territorial views of the Gorge.
Although we are only 1.7 miles away from Hwy 14 and the quaint town of Stevenson the retreat feels extremely remote because of the huge amount of trees and the lack of neighbors.

Guest can use the sauna, fireplace, Gas grill, walk the gardens, use the culinary herbs, nap in the nap nest down by the stream.
If you'd like to request an early check in or late departure we charge $25 cash if we are able to accommodate.
Interaction with Guests
Guest interaction is 1oo% guest lead. We will leave you alone unless it is obvious you would like to talk in which case we are dying to tell you all the cool places about the Gorge!

Other Things to Note
Please tell us if you want to use the sauna so you will have 100% privacy.
You will have a private entrance through the sliding glass door. When you arrive please park in the labeled parking area and follow the soar lit path down the steps to your ground level porch. We encourage you to please feel free to go down the steps to your suite and make yourself at home. We will come meet you when we can but we do not want to crowd you the first minute you get here. Our dogs will bark initially but are very friendly. There is no stove in the kitchenette, only a microwave and a two burner hot plate, crock pot and skillet.
Also, you have your own GAS BBQ and fire pit on your private porch! The more detailed you are with your needs the better able we are to make your stay perfect! (Our goal!)
