  • Our first time in Chicago and Duane's place was perfect for the experience. We had a last minute change in plan and he was very accommodating.

The title of his listing "location, location, location ..." is very true. Direct bus to the Navy Pier and Lincoln Park Zoo. Brown line L station just around the corner, one station from the downtown Loop and then from there easy access to everywhere else. There are several neighborhood restaurants if you don't want to go too far to eat.

There was a little welcome package to greet us (information about his apartment and facilities). The modern apartment is both clean, comfortable, functional with a well organized kitchen. From the 38th floor it has a very nice unobstructed view of the western (website hidden) just feels first class!

All in all, the place to stay if you're visiting Chicago.

    Response from Duane:

Thank you very your very kind and generous review. For English reading AirBnB users, I hope you don't mind that I re-post your comments in this section below. To avoid any bias, all I've done is copy and past your words exactly as you have written them into (website hidden) Translate to yield the English version. Of course, there will be some errors, but I think people will be able to figure everything out. Thanks again for being a great guest Magda!

"We loved Chicago because it is a beautiful city, very clean, very neat and full of friendly people like Duane, that makes the visit very enjoyable. Although it was out of Chicago, Duane has taken care of us at all times, kept in touch by whatsapps to resolvernos all doubts. As our English is very limited, endeavored to explain everything in Spanish that, while not perfect, is sufficient to be understood. The apartment is perfectly situated for visiting the walk: the Loop, just across the river just 100 meters away and the Magnificent Mile is just a pleasant 15 '. Addition is 5 'Clark Station / Lake by passing all lines L (from here you can go to the airport). It has everything you need for a luxury holiday (no coffee but it seems that in the U.S. you have to have coffee on the street). The apartment is spacious, has a very comfortable, nicely decorated, well equipped and very good views. The building has a garden area with barbecues, tables and chairs for dining in the summer evenings, in addition to the heated pool and warm jacuzzi to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The neighborhood is great and has lots of bars, restaurants and shops. Thanks to the recommendations of Duane and a neighbor, Ane, very friendly, we met the wonderful burgers Portillo's (at 100 W Ontario Street) and great donuts Firecakes (68 W Hubbard Street). We stayed a week but we were looking forward to walking more for Chicago and try more sites so I have to go back and will certainly return Duane's apartment if available"

  • Simply perfect! Duane made our first airbnb experience a flawless one! About the apartment - The location is ideal, a block from the river, walking distance to everything downtown, super easy access to trains and cabs and the view is amazing. The apartment is very clean and tidy, Duane takes great care of the place and made sure we had fresh sheets and towels. The building is modern and was actually just updated with new carpet and paint on the landing. There is a gorgeous pool and courtyard directly below the balcony, as well as a gym and community room (in case you need to print your tickets). Duane has thought of everything for you so you'll know exactly what to do and how to do it. Couldn't have asked for a more seamless stay! Thanks Duane!

  • I stayed at Duane apartment with a friend, and we had a great time.
The apartment it's incredibly well located, really close to all subway lines, with great views to the city and a lot of amenities that improved our quality of life during the stay.
Duane has been very patient answering very fast to all the different questions that we could have, and he helped in everything that he could.
We did not had the opportunity to meet him, because he was out of the city, but he's been very kind and helpful in its communications.
Even in the last day, one of us had to leave Chicago late afternoon, and we had no problem at all in keeping the baggages inside his apartment.
We had a great visit to Chicago, and that apartment made it much better!

  • The best advice I can give you is: stay here.

Duane is flexible, courteous, and generous. He was extremely accommodating when my schedule changed and I needed to move our meet-up time forward. Even though he was out of town for most of my stay, he left me all of his contact information. I felt like he was always available if I had any questions about the apartment, the building, or the area. He replied quickly and pleasantly - from my initial inquiry to the request for a time change to a confirmation that everything was in good shape after I left.

The title of his listing is no understatement - the location is phenomenal. You are a stone's throw from the brown line, Merchandise Mart, the river, and a wide range of restaurants and bars.

    A 5-star experience, completely.

  • My sister and I were first timers to AirBnB and we couldn't have asked for a better experience - total converts thanks to Duane!

He was such an exceptional host: so polite and friendly that it put my sister and I at ease right away. His place is really comforting and feels like a home away from a home, with great instructions and attention to detail for any tourist to get the most out of their Chicago experience.

We were pinching ourselves at how convenient his place is, literally around the corner from a subway stop and four or five minutes walking from downtown! His neighbourhood is extremely lively with a CVS and great restaurants just steps away.

Be prepared to completely enjoy your stay with Duane!

  • Duane is obviously a classy guy, as his apartment smacks of quality. Awesome location, friendly doormen (and neighbours) and everything you need. Duane also provides detailed instructions on everything from how to work the remote controls, to the best places to eat and drink around the area.
I feel very fortunate to have found Duane's apartment on AirBnB and will definitely try and stay again next time I am in town. First class all the way.

About
Born in New York City to Caribbean immigrants (Jamaica & Guyana) and grew up in New Jersey. Currently employed and residing in Chicago but lived outside of the US for nearly 7 years in 5 different locations in Europe, Asia and Latin America. I am the most proud of, and feel very fortunate to have been lucky enough to visit 58 countries in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia... I've gotten to 6 out of the 7 continents, but I hope to see Antarctica eventually! The best part of every place is the same... the people, and their culture. Love sports and have competed at a national level over the years in a couple of them... boxing, rugby, team handball, basketball, baseball are my favorites. Love to hang out w/ friends (and strangers that will become friends) and get lost in conversation - as well as the outdoors - but I'm a city boy at heart. Desiderata by Max Ehrmann is my favorite poem. I apologize in advance if I write and/or inquire a bunch in correspondence, I like to feel as if I'm staying with or hosting an old friend or a trusted acquaintance. I hate to feel as if my place, or any other AirBnBer's place, is like a hotel room. In my mind, it's not what AirBnB is all about. Don't be afraid to get to know your hosts/guests even if just a little (tiny) bit :-). A big teddy bear & as friendly as can be :-)!
