The room overlooks onto Mango and Coconut trees and most of all, the vast expanse of sky which is rare in a city of high rises. Kites and parrots are a common site and if one is lucky a family of kingfisher.
Conveniently situated. Being centrally located guests can travel easily into the city center or to the airport or into North Bombay.
Hot water, wifi (sometimes the signal is strong and sometimes weak), filter water, tea or coffee in the morning, a wardrobe, a desk. Access to kitchen is provided for a small fee. I am happy if guests treat my place as their home and they are free to use the dining table and living room.
Interaction with guests
I do enjoy interacting with guests and sometimes move around the city with them. I have access to cultural events and am happy to share these with guests.
Other things to note
There is an abundance of street food, restaurants, expensive and inexpensive. We have 4 main streets Hill Road and Turner which lead to the sea. Then there is Linking Road and SV Road which are main arterial city roads that connect the suburbs to the city center.
Linking Road and Hill Roads are the 2 main shopping areas.
India does not follow the norm of garbage segregation. I do so. Strictly. I expect guests to do the same.
Fan, AC, lights and geyser have to be switched off when not in use.
Lila, who helps me with house cleaning arrives at around 10 am. Anytime between 10 and 11 she cleans the guest room. I expect the guest to make the room available at that time.
While using the elevator, the guest must ensure that elevator doors are shut properly. Otherwise the elevator stays stuck on that floor and causes inconvenience to other society members.
Imp: With regard to metropolitan law and processes in Mumbai in light of security we will require that you send us scanned copies of your passports and visa, a week prior to your arrival. Documentary evidence of the same is required to fill in Form C. In some cases with respect to certain nationalities there is a police clearance involved. We are obliged to report transgressions.
