About this listing
The room overlooks onto Mango and Coconut trees and most of all, the vast expanse of sky which is rare in a city of high rises. Kites and parrots are a common site and if one is lucky a family of kingfisher.
Convenieny. Being centrally located guests can travel easily into the city center or to the airport or into North Bombay.
Hot water, wifi (sometimes the signal is strong and sometimes weak), filter water, tea or coffee in the morning, a wardrobe, a desk. Access to kitchen is provided for a small fee. I am happy if guests treat my place as their home and they are free to use the dining table and living room.
Interaction with Guests
I do enjoy interacting with guests and sometimes move around the city with them. I have access to cultural events and am happy to share these with guests.
When I was younger I didn't like many things, the dirt, people defecating on streets, noisy festivals...
Today I see and hear the same things but I I strangely love it all. I love walking down the vegetable market, walking into little east Indian villages (which are speedily disappearing under the weight of construction activity).
Excellent public transport..train station is 5 minutes away and you can board trains for Churchgate or Victoria Terminus.
Taxis and autos and buses too.
Other Things to Note
There is an abundance of street food, restaurants, expensive and inexpensive. We have 4 main streets Hill Road and Turner which lead to the sea. Then there is Linking Road and SV Road which are main arterial city roads that connect the suburbs to the city center.
Linking Road and Hill Roads are the 2 main shopping areas.
India does not follow the norm of garbage segregation. I do so. Strictly. I expect guests to do the same.
Fan, AC, lights and geyser have to be switched off when not in use.
Lila, who helps me with house cleaning arrives at around 10 am. Anytime between 10 and 11 she cleans the guest room. I expect the guest to make the room available at that time.
While using the elevator, the guest must ensure that elevator doors are shut properly. Otherwise the elevator stays stuck on that floor and cause inconvenience to other society members.
A wonderful location for the price. It is at the hub of everything----close to Bandra suburban station, close to the international and domestic airports and to Dadar train terminal. It is also in the centre of funky cafes and restaurants and upcoming art/ theatre centres. Jyotee herself is a wonderful and compassionate host, really sensing her guests' needs to leave them alone and assist them with using her kitchen or traveling around Mumbai. The room is airy, away from much of the noise of Mumbai, with an attached bathroom and AC. We would definitely stay here again.
Loved, loved, loooved to stay with Jyotee. She is such a welcoming, caring, helpful and understanding host. She always made sure everything was perfect, gave amazing advices and took the time to tell and show every tips and good spots.
The appartment is located 20mins away from Gateway of India by metro/train (10R) and the nearest station is 5mins walk. Superb room with great views of the city and surounding trees. Very good wifi connection and comfy bed :)
I missed my train to Agra and she was so comforting and helpful, as a solo female backpacker travelling for the first time in India I could not have asked for a better way to spend my first days. Thank you so much again for everything dear Jyotee!
Staying in Jyotee's Room with a View was an absolute delight. Jyotee was warm and welcoming, offering space and privacy, as well as easy conversation from the beginning. She is simply and spontaneously generous--helping out with knowledge of the city, access to the arts scene, remedies for minor illnesses, and more. She gave complete independence, but also made me feel at home.
The room itself was clean, comfortable and a real refuge--comfortable bed, space to work, good cupboard space for belongings, nice attached bathroom with a great shower.... Also, being relatively high, the flat gets lovely breezes to accompany the beautiful view out the window. The place is near the railroad tracks, and one does hear the trains, but at least for me it was no problem.
The location in Bandra is excellent--very close to the station and access everywhere, and also walking distance to many lovely Bandra neighborhoods.
Jyotee is a real gem, and her place is lovely too.
Jyotee was a wonderful host - full of smiles and advice. The stay was smooth and easy; the room is simple but perfectly comfortable. There's a bit of train noise due to the location near Bandra station, but it wasn't bothersome. Overall, an easy and pleasant experience with a great host.
The room was very clean an spacious. The AC worked very well, which was a present in the heat of Mumbai. The location is 15km away from the city centre, but you can easily reach it by train within 30 minutes.
The apartment is next to the railway trails, so it is quite noisy during the night.
Joytee is really kind and gives as much information as you like.
All together it was a very good experience!
Jyotee was a wonderful host to my partner and I. We found ourselves stranded in Mumbai after a missing passport incident. Joytee opened up her home to us, made us feel welcome, and offered her support and knowledge of local stores etc to help us in every way possible.
Her flat has a lovely view of the city, the beds are large and comfortable and whole apartment is clean and nicely decorated.
I would recommend staying at Joytees for everyone.
Good locality, a wide range of options of restaurants within walking distance. Shops also nearby.
Room decent, good sized( considering Mumbai), ample space for clothes in (website hidden) missing.
Railway track nearby.
