Clean and light room on the third floor of an apartment building on a tree-lined street, 5 minutes walk from either metro stop MM2 'Piola' or 'Lambrate' and city circular buses 90 & 91. Supermarkets and specialty shops close by as well as fibre optic wireless internet connection and washing machine. Free street parking always available. Hosted by a young couple from Italy and New Zealand.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and laundry facilities. There is a cooker, oven and microwave. Cupboard space and a shelf in the fridge will be made available. We have an iron and ironing board too.
Our apartment has two bedrooms, lounge with balcony, small kitchen and spacious bathroom. Bedrooms have double-glazed windows.
The bedroom has a large wardrobe, bookshelf, desk, drawers, single bed and two-seater sofa.
If guests require Italian language lessons, hosts can arrange a discounted course via a well-known centrally-located language school.
Finally, in the summer months there's an enormous open-air swimming pool open just around the corner!
Please note that the maximum stay is one month, thanks :)
No smoking anywhere in the house please, (including the balcony).
All rubbish goes into the big blue container in the kitchen except for recycling:
There are 4 plastic containers for recycling –
- One for paper and cardboard
- One for plastic and cans
- One for glass
- One for food scraps
Please only put clean rubbish in these containers, e.g. no used tissues, unwashed glass jars etc, because we have to pay a fine if we don’t do the recycling correctly.
Please lock the apartment door by turning the key twice, so that it's more secure. Also, make sure the main door to the street always closes properly behind you.
If possible we try to switch the boiler on during the night and not during the day. When the indicator on the front of the boiler is more than halfway, there is enough hot water for the day. If the hot water doesn’t last the day, feel free to turn it on. There is a switch above the mirror in the bathroom on the right side of the electrical socket. Switch ‘up’ for on and ‘down’ for off.
Removing any debris/hair from the plug after each use stops the drain from blocking, which happens easily.
Fiona and Gianluca thanks for having me as your guest. The stay at their place was very nice and cosy. The room has lots of light and space and the apartment is just 5 mins away from the metro station Piola which quickly links you to the city centre. The neighborhood is nice and quiet - perfect location to stay, away from the noise of the city.
Fiona and Gianluca are very nice hosts, very helpful and amiable persons to be around. I definitely recommend the place! Thanks!
Very convenient location outside of the center, but very assessible to the metro line/public transportation. Quiet, affordable, private, and very amiable hosts. I would definitely stay here again, given the opportunity.
Fiona and Gianluca are fantastic hosts. Fun to talk to, great to be around and very helpful. (You guys rock!!!.) I felt comfortable in their home immediately. The room was perfect, and since I was taking classes at the school (thank you Fiona) I really liked the large desk! It's very easy to get anywhere from the place by Metro too. Overall I had a wonderful time there. I would recommend them to everyone and would love to stay there again when I get to go back to Milan.
I stayed with Fiona and Gian Luca for three weeks while studying Italian. They are a very nice, quiet, relaxed couple. You would never know they were there. The room is bright and large with plenty of closet space and a very comfortable bed. I could use the kitchen and bath as I wanted. Fiona offered to use her washing machine, but there is a self-service laundry with washers and dryers just across the street. The Lambrati train, metro, bus and tram stations are only a 7 minute walk. Also, there is a tram stop ( go out door and turn right) only 4 minutes away. (Tram #33 to Stazione Centrale (advantage-no steps with luggage) and Tram #22 to Duomo). I could even walk to my language school from their place. I recommend it highly
I stayed at Fiona's and Gianluca's lovely flat for one month and I felt at home immediately! My room was very big, clean and bright and I could use kitchen, living room and bathroom whenever I wanted. Fiona and Gianluca are very helpful, you can always ask them if you have any questions. Fiona even drew a map to show me where to find all the supermarkets nearby :) I had a great time and I highly recommend this place!! I definitely know where to go, when I return to Milan! Thank you very much for everything, Fiona and Gianluca!!
I had a seriously nice stay at Fiona & Gianluca’s! A few minutes after walking through the door I felt right at home! Hassle free check-in, nicest hosts, superb room and a beautiful apartment. They are the most relaxed people to live with. You’ll have all the space and privacy you need as well as company and local knowledge as you please. The room is ridiculously big, with plenty of storage and a massive desk next to the window: simply perfect! The apartment is on the third floor (with lift), away from city noises; it has a cosy and functional kitchen, a large bathroom and it’s 5 minutes from the M2 tube at Piazza Piola. Plenty of little traditional cafés can be found in the lovely and authentic neighbourhood; they’ll serve you the best coffee and a wild selection of sweet pastries. There are also bakeries and a weekly market so your stay at Fiona and Gianluca is guaranteed to be a gourmet one! If you drive, it’s not too difficult to find parking and if you cycle, there is an inner court where you can leave your bike. Highlight: try the local brewery “Birrificio Lambrate”, one of the best beers you’ll taste, no joke!
Thank you guys, I had an awesome stay!
TIPs: pizza at Cuccuma (around the corner) and coffee/pastry at Café Scaringi.
Fiona and Gianluca are a lovely couple who would do anything to make you feel at home. I actually feel quite bad because the reason I came to Milan was to study for a couple of exams I had at Uni so all I did was to stay inside my room and study all day long. So I really didn't have the opportunity to socialised with them how I would have liked to. I truly recommend this place, its so close to Politecnico and everything you need is near by. The bar downstairs can be noisy at times but you get used to it quite quickly.
The room is great, quite big with a nice big window. Lots of storage room also. Just perfect!
I would come back here in a heartbeat, maybe next time I can get to know them even more.
Thank you guys, I really was the perfect place to focus on my studies.
We are a friendly couple from Italy and New Zealand. We're both teachers - of English, Photography and Film. Gianluca is crazy into the martial art Jujitsu and anything Japanese. Fiona loves sewing and baking in her spare time.
