Nice old hotel. Very reasonably priced. Nice neighborhood. Got me dinner ven though I arrived late. I would stay there again
The Pacot Breeze was comfortable, with an AC unit in our generally clean room. There was no mini-fridge available as described, though in the end, we didn't need it. There was a lot of confusion when we checked in, as the reception staff did not seem to have any information about our reservation. They were ultimately helpful in getting us situated. Although we requested detailed information about how to arrive at the location, we were simply told that there was a taxi option available, something that we indicated was out of our price range. We were not given an exact address for the property, which complicated our arrival a bit, since we were using public transportation. In general, the location (Pacot) is convenient if you're interested in exploring the main downtown areas of Port au Prince, though one should be aware that internet maps generally do not display topography, and that this region is very hilly, which makes 10 blocks of walking a bit more taxing than one might think. There is also security on the premises which is a big plus. I'd say the most uncomfortable part of the experience was that the reception and ultimately Poly requested us to pay an additional $5 tax on the room. Although this isn't a big deal, my understanding is that the airbnb price should include all of the related expenses, and we didn't like being asked to pay something beyond what we anticipated, and for no apparent reason. Overall, this hotel is a good option for exploring the town if you're prepared for what it involves. There's also the lovely Yanvalou cafe nearby which we highly recommend.
She is one of the most gracious women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Travelers to PAP probably understand that this is not St-Bart. Taking this into account, *** I am very likely to return to this location *** if I have to return to PAP. Wifi is extremely unreliable, there are frequent blackouts, no hot water (a group staying on the third floor had no water at all for a day), food is somewhere between bad and barely OK. This is not a luxurious oasis in an otherwise struggling country. It is "authentic".
The place is clean. There was a working fridge. Basic furniture. a nice swimming pool. Birds in trees. Kids laughter. The place is secure and located in what I am told is a relatively safe neighbourhood, walking distance from Petionville, where I was told that many "affluent" aid workers congregate.
The owner is kind and attentive. I remember being put off by another reviewer's opinion that staff did not care. My experience would rather be that they care whenever possible.
Most people in my position would have rented a room in a world class hotel as more than twice the per diem. I am grateful that Airbnb allowed me to be closer to what life looks like in this part of the world.
This is not a place to spend time with kids. It is, however, a place that offers better value for the money than what you are likely to find among traditional hotels.
We had an amazing time at Pacot Breeze. Mrs. Verna was able everything we requested even when it was last minute. I would recommend Pacot Breeze to anyone, specially for the service and price.
Pacot Breeze is definitely a very good place to stay in Port-au-Prince. The rooms are spacious the breakfast and dishes are delicious and the view from the terrace is amazing. Ms. Verna is giving good advice for newcomers in Haïti, in Pacot Breeze you can feel as secure as you were at home. The staff and ambiance is also very warm towards children. I can only recommend Pacot Breeze to anyone travelling to Port-au-Prince.
