About this listing
Although being "blue" it is our warmest room. It stands at a corner with views to the side and front. Even the bathroom has a view and its own decorative marble fireplace. A suite providing the coolest romance and comfort.
This romantic room with a blue marble fire-place has fantastic views to the front and side of the chateau into rolling valleys. It has a private bathroom with a large rain-shower and another fire-place.
This medieval dream castle is in the middle of France, in south Burgundy. Full of history and charm it is the epitome of a real French experience. Peace, authenticity and energy is what this site promises. Once inhabited by an Augustinian monastic community and noblesse, it breathes its past to the rolling hills surrounding it. Nine hundred hectares of woods provide for walks, horse-riding and picnicking along serene rivers connecting lovely villages at every angle. This is truly France without the crowd and hassles one finds in most areas during the holidays...
St. Gengoux-le-National, the village nearby at 3.5 km, has cozy medieval streets, shops and restaurants. In 1793 the king believed a "miraculous" fountain of youth flowed into the beautiful wash-house in the centre and named the village a royal spa.
The famous bike route, Voie Verte, that uses an old railroad for 70 km from Chalon-sur-Saone to Macon through crisp countrysides, stops at this village.
From fishing to visiting archaeological sites, ballooning, wine-tasting and culinary adventures at some of the best restaurants in the world, to visiting famous destinations such as Beaune, Cluny, Taize and Tournus. There is also lots to do for the children at several fun parks that make it a complete vacation for all. It is also perfectly situated for driving down south, although after you discover the secrets of Burgundy, you wouldn't have to go down south at all!
We had a very nice stay at the Chateau. The room, the view, the castle and it's surroundings were stunning. The rooms were more then complete, the breakfast was great and atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We could more then recommend a stay with Jeanne with a special mention for the beautiful artwork in and around the castle.
Un rêve, une ambiance, une chaleur humaine au fond d'une route de Bourgogne. Une étape inoubliable dans un château perdu sur la route des vins, pimentée d'un dîner chinois. Une très agréable découverte.
I had a wonderful stay at the Chateau de Burnand. It reminded me of a grander, French version of Vanessa Bell's Charleston, in England -- it had some of the same air of slighted faded grandeur, of bohemian charm and elegance, of playfulness and creativity. It would be hard not to feel like a princess here, especially when you open the antique shuttered windows and look out on to the beautiful grounds. The Blue Room is just gorgeous -- comfortable, cool, with a great bed and beautiful toile de Jouy bed hangings. It's also been fully fitted with modern conveniences, like an excellent shower and a good, fast wifi connection.
Jeane is a wonderful hostess, and I really enjoyed joining her and her other guests for dinner. Her cooking is very, very good, and the conversation was engaging and fun.
I'm already planning to return some day. Truly an amazing experience.
Our stay at the Chateau was brilliant! A proper Chateau straight out of a fairytale.
Even though we only stayed for one night passing through, it was amazing.
We briefly met Jeane, unfortunately didn't have time to enjoy her cooking and dinner in the amazing dining room.
Nevertheless: recommend a stay in this romantic place to anyone.

About the Host, Jeane
Anyone loving art, history and who is warm-hearted will enjoy feeling the energy that this property brings. Myself, I have traveled all my life and understand the need of feeling at home wherever one is, this feeling is universal and attainable through humanitarian hospitality and understanding. I enjoy sharing my undying enthusiasm about life and its wonders, the source of which we search wherever we go, so many things to tell, so much to see, so much to experience and when we think we're there, it is still a long way to go...
