Established in 1739, and by the 1890’s Utuado was the largest producer of coffee in Puerto Rico. Currently, Utuado is one of the easiest towns in the interior mountainous region to reach from the San Juan metropolitan area.
This home is perfect for a getaway with privacy and inspiring views of nature! As one guest has said, “This place is set in the Cordillera countryside. The views are spectacular.”
We have a two bed room home with a nice kitchen with all you need to cook a nice meal although Authentic Puerto Rican cooking can be included for a fee!
I promise that my calendar is up to date! In order to expedite your request, feel free to go ahead and instant book. Full directions, and more details about the home and specifics about the area will arrive via email after you book.

It's the last home on the street with over 10 acres behind it. You can feed the horse (if he is there), the cows, or spend time at the nearby river where you can fish, swim, or find some sweet water shrimp (chagaras)!
Your hosts live right next door, and are super lovely! A neighbor's dog, Brownie, is extremely friendly and will follow you down to the river & back! Hector and Emma are great and they love sharing the culture of this Island with visitors.
The Restaurant called La Familia is 12.5 Kilometers away
There is a small supermarket 5 minutes away, along with 1 gas station and 2 bakeries. There is also an awesome sports pub with a great owner in Lares, the next small town over. There is also a small local pharmacy in town.
Feel free to stop by a RedBox DVD machine before heading up into my town.
Both the Ponce and San Juan Airports are 1.5 hours away. You can rent any sized car. All of the roads in Puerto Rico are paved; if you find yourself on an unpaved road, you are lost! :)

We all love pets, but unfortunately we are unable to accommodate them.
The house was extremely clean and very cozy in a nice wooded setting. The road is very windy to get to this place and the driveway is very steep, but the visuals are extraordinary. I loved driving to and from the house every morning and seeing the jungle, bamboo and mountains. It's situated in pretty much the center of the island, so your not limited to just one side of the island. My group visited crash boat beach (1 hour), San Juan (1 hour 30 mins), the bio bay in the north east of the island (2 hours 30 mins) and the jungle reserve (about 2 hours). The hosts were very prompt in responding to any questions I have and I would absolutely recommend this place to other visitors.
Unfortunately, we did not have a lot of time to explore the area, as we arrived late at night and had to leave early in the morning. However, the dinner and breakfast was amazing and we highly recommend to take the option to book it in addition to your stay. Very authentic, delicious Puerto Rican food.
The little house itself has everything needed and it was nice to have a cooler night without having to use an AC after staying at the coast before.
As mentioned in other reviews already, the nights in the mountains can get quite noisy - especially due to the roosters who do not seem to have a very accurate internal clock ;-) If you are a light sleeper definitely bring some earplugs.
This oasis is totally worth the trip. The house was super clean an safe. With cool hiking and great outdoors this little gem is a great value and an awesome way to spend a night inland.
This house was exactly what I wanted for a stay in the mountains. Lots of space on the property to roam and discover. A babbling brook to make me forget about all of the hustle and bustle that is all around on the island. I opted to have breakfast on the property, with Emma and Héctor showing up promptly every morning with hot breakfast and a thermos of coffee! I would absolutely return to this special spot next time I am on the island, with more time spent NOT leaving the property!!
Really nice trip here. Quiet with beautiful scenery and friendly neighborhoods and puppies! What a paradise here! It's really worth a trip here!
This place was an absolute delight! The hosts and neighbors were very accommodating and chatted, walked with us to pick fruit (and assist in identifying it too, hah), and cooked us an *amazing* Puerto Rican dinner and breakfast. There were neighborhood pets around, a dog named Brownie and a cat named Miso, and we adored them as they were both very cute and friendly! I personally enjoyed practicing my Spanish with a neighborhood boy, and he liked that he could practice his English.
The terrain and scenery was fantastic, and the sunrise was beautiful. We walked a trail that took us past many citrus trees and farm animals, down to a small stream surrounded by bamboo bushels growing. It was beautiful. Although, I recommend bug spray if you venture to the stream as we did get quite a few itchy bites from no-see-ums after traversing the stream!
This is definitely a place that wakes up early, what with the roosters and tree frogs. Once the sun rises, it gets kind of noisy and hard to stay asleep. Don't make this a place to stay up late at!
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful location. Hector and his wife were very nice. They greeted us and gave us fresh oranges and grapefruit from their property.
The hike down the river is nice to do. The view and scenery is beautiful.
Others mentioned the noise at night, so yes earplugs are a must. But it shouldn't keep anyone from coming here. Highly recommend it.

I now live in Tampa Bay, Florida, and Puerto Rico.
I love the outdoors and helping make people better through friendship. I have explored PR for 20 years and I am excited about finally working here.
I eat very little meat, listen to a variety of music (when I make time to listen at all) and I read spiritual and motivational materials daily.
My goal is to provide customers with the ability to travel and see the whole Island from different base homes. You can stay at several homes I rent during your stay, or just one.
We provide meals, tours and culture so you have the Full Puerto Rican experience!
Use my 20 years of exploring Puerto Rico to your advantage....
