It was a great house with a great bed, bathroom and outside jacuzzi! I would really recommend it! Great hosts as well!
great place! second time we have been here. joey is a great host, the manatees rule!!! so does this house! great place to be. thanks joey..
This place was the highlight of our trip. Our hosts made sure we felt at home. The place is spectacular, really creative in a gorgeous culdesac next to the water. We borrowed the house kayaks and nade friends with a curious (email hidden)ch a wonderful experience. Bed is huge and bathroom luxurious. Kitchen well equipped. We only stayed one night but it seems close to everything you'd need although key west had more of a buzz this place was great to stay in. Took us 2.5 hours to drive to key west due to speed limit.
We just returned from an absolutely lovely stay with Joey and Vivian. Our time with them was laid back and filled with warmth from their welcoming generosity. It felt like we were staying with old friends.
The bedroom is clean and dry and the bathroom is lovely. We spent a lot of time on the porch, reading in the sun while the friendly cats sweetly brushed our ankles. Petting the manatees off the pontoon was a highlight, as was the rooftop hot tub.
The house is filled with art and plants from floor to ceiling. (Not to worry, it's spotlessly maintained and doesn't feel cluttered.) Darryl's artwork and the eclectic pieces she collected fill the home with a strong mood and presence. To be honest, the art played an important supporting role in the story of our stay -- it's impossible to not be affected and inspired by it. What a gift.
This is a special, unique place to stay. Highly recommended.
P.S. The only drawback -- the listing says there is cable TV, but there isn't. Since we're big fans of the Olympics, we were hoping to watch some of the Games, so this was a disappointment. We cozied up on the couch with a movie instead, but it would've been great to have known that up front.
We spent a week, and had a wonderful time. Joey and Vivian were gracious and generous hosts. The setting is very special --- beautiful artwork inside the house, a wrap-around porch to relax on, overlooking tropical gardens. The hot tub on the roof and sunset boat ride completed the experience!
It felt like spending a night in the art gallery and we really enjoyed it! Joey and Vivian were very nice - too bad we were on the road most of the time and did not have time to chat much. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge. The cats were friendly and happily posed for photos on the balcony! Thank you - we had a great stay!
Easy to find, comfortable bed, great bathroom, clean and no cat odor.
Really great: spacious room with spectacular bathroom. On the second floor of a house on the canal. We sat on the porch, in the shade, in a breeze, on a hot afternoon. Then Joey and Vivian allowed us to take out their two kayaks to enjoy the sunset over the bay. From between the mangrove. What a sunset...
What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the Florida Keys, we had a great time getting to know Joey who looked after us, gave us great suggestions for places to visit and eat, and treated us as guests in this beautiful house. Joey is a fun person to get to know and talk with, he has vast knowledge of the Keys and is very passionate about living on the islands and the house itself. He's worked on it for 14 years making it into a tropical oasis. The house itself was clean, neat, the bathroom was large and great for two people, between the time spent watching the manatees swimming by in the channel, getting to use the kayaks to explore the bay, the friendly kitties who live on the property, and the amazing art that you will see around the house, this is a place with great energy and creativity. I would totally recommend this artist home for people to stay when visiting the Keys and personally hope to return to someday.
This home was Amazing! Floor to ceiling artwork, wonderfully friendly hosts with lots of local knowledge, and a fabulous bed and bathroom made this a Great place to stay!
