Apartment - Entire home/apt · Albert Cuypstraat, Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

The Space

Cosy and light apartment on the 3rd and 4th floor of a monumental building, built in 1885 (!), in the populair neighbourhood 'De Pijp'. This neighbourhood is known for the vividness of it, and almost feels like a little village inside the city. The Albert Cuyp market is the most famous day market in Amsterdam. It will take about five minutes by foot to get to the center of Amsterdam. You will also be able to take the tram, stops are only a three minutes walk from the apartment. De Pijp is also known for it's shops, bars and muliticultural restaurants. The Sarphatipark and the Vondelpark are just around the corner. You will make it to the highway (A1, A2 and Ring A10) in just a couple of minutes.

The apartment: entree on the third floor of the building (there's no elavator in the builing, so prepare for some stairs), which gives access to the large livingroom, which overlooks the market on the front site of the apartment. Here you will find a small bathroom with toilet and a kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave, oven, dish washer, coffee machine, water boiler, fornace and a refridgerator.

On the fourth floor, you will find two bedrooms and a large, luxurious bathroom with toilet, bath and separate shower. Please note that this bathroom has an open wall(!) The largest bedroom is on the backside of the building, and has a small, but sunny terrace. In this room, there is a double bed and a single bed.
The smaller bedroom also has a double bed and a single bed. For children, we also have two beds built about a meter from the ceiling. Adults could sleep here too, but they might have a little trouble climbing up there.

Take the stairs to the fifth floor and you will be amazed by the wonderful view over the city from the sunny and very large terrace. On this floor, you will also find a large refridgerator, which makes it easy to have drinks while enjoying the sun or even BBQ. The apartment is also very suitable for children.

• We (8 people) enjoyed our stay in this appartment.
The "curtain bathroom" and the steep stairs were absolutely no problem. But the sink on the 3rd floor is not smelling good like the tulips of Amsterdam. Anyway...
The terrace and the Location of the appartment is great. The market, supermarket, nice pubs and restaurant are close and good price...
    WE recommend it.
    Thanks!!!

  • I and my friend stayed over there for couple days. I couldn't imagine a host better than her. The place was really clean and nice. Everybody who books this place, will really enjoy it.

  • The location is very good and we loved being next to the market. We had warm welcoming from Alisa neighbor and he gave us good tips. The apartment could be cleaner but everything else fulfilled our expectations. The large terrace on the roof is really nice and the view is wonderful.

  • Nice location in that it's a 15min walk to the city centre which makes it cheaper. For four guys on a holiday for a few days this place was ideal. The pictures need updating maybe because the furniture isn't as new as it appears.

  • Having seen the pictures of the appartment, it looked very clean, bright and modern, when on arrival I was surprised at how dated it looked and to me looked the photos on the webpage had been photoshopped to give a different appearance, also there was maintenance being carried out on the roof terrace and paint work being touched up.
I spoke to my host on one occasion briefly to complain about how dirty and dusty things where in the toilet/shower room on the first floor, and how the kitchen cupboards and drawers where in such a poor state. Not to mention the stench of the drains in the kitchen/toilet area was very unpleasant.
The upstairs bathroom had no wall or door, only a curtain which didn't even span the width and offered no privacy whatsoever.
The living room offered only one couch and a single chair so for the 8 people who stayed there so some of us had no comfort in which to sit.
On the roof terrace where used ashtrays full of cigarette stumps so for me as a non smoker I found this unpleasant.
The bedroom offered no space as the beds where next to each other and mattresses where on the floor, this was not shown or mentioned in the description we at least thought we had a bed each (sleeps 8-9) perhaps should only offer to accommodate for 6 people.
As a group we made the best of a bad situation.
The only positive I can find is the location is in a vibrant area, if u can put up with the mess and smell from the daily market then it's a good location to stay!

  • overall an okay experience:
The good points: access was really easy - the keylock system is really practical! the location is nice, with the market and the streets with nice bars and restaurants. The neighbors are nice.
The living room is very spacious and bright. There are lots of books and dvds. On check-out day we were able to leave our suitcases in the apartment and come to get them at the end of the day right before going to the airport - that was great!
The bad points: the apartment clearly needs to be looked after better: the lightbulbs in the bedrooms needed changing, the downstairs shower-room had a sewers problem and the curtain to hide the upstairs bathroom (which has nothing luxurious) was too small... The terraces really need to be kept better. Anyway the pictures looked better than the apartment did.
Another thing to better point out in the description: the stairs to the apartment are very steep, possibly dangerous...

  • Upon arriving, we were greeted (email hidden)ly market filled with locals and tourists with the apartment located in the middle of it! The apartment was very clean, had all the amenities needed for our stay and Alisa even stocked the fridge with water and pop for us to drink. We could have asked for a better place to stay in Amsterdam!

  • Great location, big and comfortable apartment. Everything was awesome!

  • The apartment was clean and neat, it was easy to find in the neighborhood and the host was polite and easy-going - he explained all the basics of the apartment and left us for ourselves. The rooms are very spacious with lots of light and the terrace is awesome in good weather. There are lots of supermarkets, cafes and kebaps around for hungry guests:)
The furniture was not as new as it seems on the photos and the walk to the centre is around 25 minutes - all the rest was great!

  • We found the owner, very easy to deal with and accommodating. The place itself was spacious and unique and made for a more enjoyable stay than an ordinary hotel. It was in a great location with lots of good pubs and well connected to centre and museums. I would very much recommend the place for 4-6 people.
