I live on the property in a beautiful treehouse outback and am a certified Hatha Yoga instructor, so private classes can also be integrated into your stay.
Please no smoking in the house. We are on a sceptic system so throwing as little paper down the toilet as possible. And showering to clean off any oils before entering the pool.
Have Fun ;)
Chris welcomed us and showed us the house. The house is definitely a beach house, very rustic and basic. The bedrooms were spacious but some of the bedsheets were stained. The bathroom was a nice size. The kitchen hardly had any supplies and the shelves were unkempt. The house had a nice environment, with beautiful trees and plants all around . The pool should be listed as a small "cool-off" pool - not a regular pool for actual swimming. It came in handy when it got hot. It is nice for a casual couple or a couple of guys, but difficult for a family. There were ants and bugs on the floor maybe because the doors were open to nature. But my children did not like the bugs and sometimes they were bit at night. The outdoor area with hammocks and a grill was cozy and we made full use of it. It is very close to town, local restaurants and bodegas so it's practical and easy. The host had a dog that visited a lot and that made us feel at home because we left a dog back home.
Hmmmm...I'm a little confused as every time I came by and asked if you needed anything or if everything was all right you responded with "yes it's great , thank you" ?... I would have been more than happy to change your sheets if there was something about them bothering you. If the kitchen was missing something you needed I would have found it as sometimes with three homes things get moved around when friends visit...lol.. Sorry about that :)
We had a wonderful time at Casa Del Halcon, we miss it already and would love to go back. Chris was very welcoming, super helpful with any questions we had. A great host, with the most wonderful dog too! The garden is beautiful, we spent quite a bit of time at the house, reading in the hammock, cooking, listening to music and seeing animals, including iguanas, a monkey and more. We were really grateful for the bikes as well, it allowed us to easily discover the areas around Samara. Thank you Chris.
Chris' place is a little gem located in the outskirts of playa Samara; from there it is very easy to get to town and more importantly to the beautiful beaches around!
Chris is very subtle and full of good tips for things to do in the area; we loved every minute of our stay with him; highly recommended for a true costa rican experience!

We spent 11 days at Casa Del Halcon 2 in August. Chris was always willing to help us with any questions or concerns. The house is situated on the outskirts of town (10 min bike ride) in a lush stretch of road, set among a beautiful garden. The kids really enjoyed the pool, it's about 3 feet deep. The house its self offered the basic necessities. There is no A/C in this house, but we were good with the fans. Because one of our kids still naps, we spent more time at the house then most people usually would. We would have liked a more comfortable living room area as the space had a bed that doubled as seating, but for our family it didn't quite meet our needs. The other house and Chris's tree house are somewhat close together, so sound carries, as we subjected Chris to our crying kids nightly. Samara is a very laid back town during the day. There are plenty of places to eat, we became partial to Lo Que Hay on the beach as it seemed to be the place expats with kids congregated and the food good. We found grocery and restaurant prices on par with North American prices.
If you are looking for a more authentic experience off the beaten path, we recommend Casa Del Halcon 2!
We really enjoyed our stay, the house and location are perfect. Plenty of space for the 4 of us, and more than enough commodities to make you feel "home away from home". The pool, the bbq, the hammocks, and bikes available are all an added bonus. And Chris was a friendly and helpful host. I`d love to go back to Sàmara some time and, if I get the chance, I`d definitely stay at the Casa del Halcon again :)

My name is Chris Hawk (Most friends call me Hawk). I'm originally from Canada but have been traveling extensively for the past 18yrs. I moved to Samara in 2012 and am very happy with this choice. Samara is a wonderful town with an incredible vibe where the locals, ex-pats and tourists all mingle effortlessly.
I am a certified hatha yoga instructor and was working with an addictions retreat center here before finding this amazing property. I am open to working with anyone that would like yoga, pranayama (yogic breathing) or meditation classes.
Wishing you an amazing adventure in samara - HAWK
