City and park views

Soak up the views during your stay.
You a tea lover, value culture or enjoy the outdoors in a bustling urban landscape? If yes, then get ready to be mesmerized by my creation. For accuracy, my historical home will be your private tea shop, private garden and private park all in one. I selected for your indulgence 140 fine teas, built huge outside chill areas with fire pits, grills and gardens whose cozy seatings sprinkled throughout main and adjacent park grounds will have you sipping tea between ZEN and GRILL mode all day long.

The space
★ My historical 1940's home "The Cochran Oriental" or (TCO Teas™) is minutes from downtown and only two blocks from the rail station which zips you to central downtown in 5 minutes.

★ You don't need to be a "tea lover" to enjoy my home, however if you do like tea then all the merrier. We have a tea wall with 140 teas from around the world including black teas, green teas, rooibos teas, pu'er teas, oolong teas, herbal teas, tisanes, and many more types.

★ I named my home "The Cochran Oriental," because I lived in Asia 20 years and I also retail tea online. Once you've reserved the booking, I will send you my home's website (TCO Teas™) so you can learn more about this one-of-a kind home you're about to experience.

★ The rooms in my home are immaculately decorated with rare collectibles, posters and drawings from Asia. Each bedroom feels like a private apartment, where many will enjoy socializing or catching up on emails. There are six (6) 43" or larger, smart TVs in the home. The interiors are a mix of old and new and everything feels rich and opulent. The outdoor space is huge and, in all honest, feels like a resort.

★ We are in the inner city, so do anticipate elements of city life to unfold on the public streets outside. Personally, I enjoy my porch swing with a cup of tea watching street theater, which consists of community cats meowing, dogs in search of a good free meal and people of all walks of life going about their daily routines.

Guest access
The entire 1940's historical property "The Cochran Oriental" and Tea Lovers Park, which is a 5000 sqf private gated park adjacent to the property will be all yours.

Other things to note
★ Coffee and refrigerator filtered water are complimentary. All other food and drinks inside the home, including the teas, are optional. Additionally, the fire pit is wood burning. Wood is available but not complimentary.

★ My home isn't designed for small children.

The neighborhood is considered Near Northside in Houston, Texas with a population of 24,007. Houston’s skyline is readily visible however there is a bit of a suburban vibe as most residents own their homes and it would not be uncommon to witness an estate sale. Yet, the city is quite accessible with several bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. The Near Northside is within minutes of every major attraction of Houston, from Minute Maid Park to The Museum of Fine Arts making transportation very affordable.

The Near Northside neighborhood began in the 1880s with the Hardy Rail Yards when European immigrants settled in this area to make up a working-class neighborhood that has expanded with diverse ethnicities. The neighborhood is historic for its setting of championing the advancement of its residents. Over time the area was noted by Preservation Texas, an organization dedicated to preserving historic resources in the state of Texas and in 2011 the community was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
