Interaction with Guests
We live on the floor located above this room and work from home so we often run into our guests. However, there are many times when schedules do not align and we miss our guests entirely but are always available for questions and recommendations.
Do note that you might run into another Airbnb guest staying in their own private room on the same floor and sharing the bathroom with you.
Our neighborhood is diverse and friendly with quaint vintage shops, quirky bars and excellent restaurants. It is conveniently located near I-5 and public transport.
Just 5 miles north of Downtown and nestled in the historic Kenton community close to shops and dining, we are within easy walking distance to public transit (Yellow Max line and several buses) and a 20 minute car ride downtown with great N/S-bound freeway access.
We are about 25-35 minutes away from downtown by bus or Yellow Max train line. Both are within six blocks of the house with a bus stop less than a block away.
Bus: 4 and 75 are less than a block away and the Yellow Max line is only 6 blocks from the house. All will take you downtown in about 25-35 minutes.
Car: Parking is free and easy curbside at the house.
We are in the Car2Go zone and several Zipcars are in the neighborhood making shared transportation readily available.
Airport: From the airport, take a taxi for $20-30 and spend 20 minutes or take the Red Max train from the airport to the Rose Quarter and change to the Yellow Max train to Kenton Station then walk to the house. It usually takes 1-1.5 hours and costs $2.50.

My stay at Maylene & Charity's house was amazing! The house was very welcoming and clean. Maylene & Charity were extremely friendly and accommodating. They had some great recommendations for things to do in the city as well as a lot of helpful information and instructions around the house. It was also very convenient being so close to the MAX and bus. I would absolutely recommend them as airbnb hosts to anyone staying in Portland!
A big thank you to Maylene and Charity. We had the privilege of spending 3 nights in their lovely home. I want you to know the arrangements were seamless and the expectations clearly stated. The home was spotless and beautifully decorated to reflect the heritage of the hosts and the culture and diversity of Portland.
Location: The house is within walking distance to everything: a beautiful public park, the Max train, coin laundry, adult beverage store, cute delicious restaurants, taverns, 7 eleven and a short drive to Fred Meyers supermarket. The #4 bus (which goes right downtown and everywhere else with a transfer) is on the corner, their corner, literally 15 feet away. We never had to start the car, until we were ready to go home.
Accommodations: Our room was sunny and comfortable, clean and welcoming, as was the shared space in the home. Everything was tactfully labeled. There was ample personal space assigned for all of our shopping and belongings in the kitchen and bedroom. The bed was comfortable and the closet was full of hangers.
We hope to return to Portland in the near future and will be contacting Airbnb to book this gem again.
Our arrival was very easy, they told us every necessary information in advance. The house was very clean and sweet. The kitchen was well-appointed and it was good to cook there. Thanks for hosting us!
It was absolutely wonderful. The space is bright, cheerful and clean. It had everything I could possibly need and more! Nice neighborhood. Great location. I would recommend this place 5 stars!!
Maylene & Charity were super hosts. They are both really friendly and were really helpful with my many questions about Portland. I especially liked the fact their house had pets, Alice the dog was a pleasure to be with. They really went to town on attention to detail, their house is so beautiful it's more like being in a boutique hotel. We really appreciated the simple things like the coffee machine, which they kindly let us use. The location is great as it's just a 5 min walk from the MAX line which takes you downtown. We got a great overview of Portland and they were really helpful by lending us maps etc.

About the Host, Maylene & Charity
We are high school sweethearts who met in Japan over 20 years ago. Many areas of our home are strongly influenced by our time there. We share a common passion for travel and haven't seen nearly enough of the world yet! One day we'd like to compete and WIN on The Amazing Race.
Small business owners and entrepreneurial folk, we work from home so we're available for questions and referrals.
In our free time you'll find us planning our next big adventure, binging on YouTube videos, stretched out on a yoga mat, or curled up with a good book.
