Interaction with Guests
We live on the floor located above this room and work from home so we often run into our guests. However, there are many times when schedules do not align and we miss our guests entirely but are always available for questions and recommendations.
Do note that you might run into another Airbnb guest staying in their own private room on the same floor and sharing the bathroom with you.
Our neighborhood is diverse and friendly with quaint vintage shops, quirky bars and excellent restaurants. It is conveniently located near I-5 and public transport.

Bus: 4 and 75 are less than a block away and the Yellow Max line is only 6 blocks from the house. All will take you downtown in about 25-35 minutes.
Car: Parking is free and easy curbside at the house.
We are in the Car2Go zone and several Zipcars are in the neighborhood making shared transportation readily available.
Airport: From the airport, take a taxi for $20-30 and spend 20 minutes or take the Red Max train from the airport to the Rose Quarter and change to the Yellow Max train to Kenton Station then walk to the house. It usually takes 1-1.5 hours and costs $2.50.

Maylene & Charity have been very helpful for the check in and left a lot of clear and detailed instructions. The house has a very personal and elegant touch, and everything was tidy and organized. We had a very pleasant stay even though we didn't get to meet them personally. A very big plus, the house is located close to the Mississippi quarter which, I think, is the most beautiful and appealing in Portland!
GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! This is my first time using Airbnb and it was a fabulous experience. Maylene and Charity were superb hosts and truly deserve to be recognized. It was everything they advertised and more. Before we were to go head down, they were already confirming our time of arrival so that they can meet us face to face. Due to our own scheduling, we were not able to meet them the first night. However, seeing how everything was nicely organized when we got to our rooms, we had no questions that needed to be answered. During the course of our stay, it didn't feel as though we were renting a room from strangers and more like being with friends. They were very easy to talk to and gave a lot of suggestions as to where to go for some good eat/drinks and about the local area attractions. I would most definitely be returning to rent from them again in the future. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
Helpful and friendly hosts! The room was immaculate and the shower was the best we've experienced on our trip.
My husband and I had a great time staying at Maylene and Charity's beautiful home! It was exactly what we needed for our weekend away in Portland. The room was exactly as described. We loved the charm of the house! So much beauty and character. It was a hot weekend and we appreciated the tips for how to keep cool. We would recommend this place to anyone :-)
This was a wonderful place. Great position, super clean house and friendly helpful hosts. We would definitely recommend it.
Great experience and the room was so comfortable. They tried their best to accommodate any of my requests. I had no problems staying here at all. I would definitely go back especially for their amazingly comfortable bed!

We are high school sweethearts who met in Japan over 20 years ago. Many areas of our home are strongly influenced by our time there. We share a common passion for travel and haven't seen nearly enough of the world yet! One day we'd like to compete and WIN on The Amazing Race.
Small business owners and entrepreneurial folk, we work from home so we're available for questions and referrals.
In our free time you'll find us planning our next big adventure, binging on YouTube videos, stretched out on a yoga mat, or curled up with a good book.
