Interaction with Guests

We love greeting guests and helping with directions and getting around town. Since we live on the 2nd floor and share the kitchen, we often run into guests in the common areas and love exchanging tips and travel insights. Our new puppy, Alys is a sweet, friendly and well-behaved delight.

Special attention to detail has been paid so you can thrive in our cozy home when we are unavailable in person, but always accessible by phone or email.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is diverse and friendly with quaint vintage shops, quirky bars and excellent restaurants. It is conveniently located near I-5 and public transport.

Just 5 miles north of Downtown and nestled in the historic Kenton community close to shops and dining, we are within easy walking distance to public transit (Yellow Max line and several buses) and a quick 10 minute car ride downtown with great N/S-bound freeway access.

Getting around

Bike: We rent awesome bikes that fit most people (5'0"-6'0") and include Nutcase helmets, safety gear and locks for just $15/day. Free and easy onto the buses and Max - use them to expand your stay and live like a local!

Bus: 4 and 75 are less than a block away and the Yellow Max line is only 6 blocks from the house.

Car: Parking is free and easy curbside at the house.

We are in the Car2Go zone and several Zipcars are in the neighborhood making shared transportation readily available.

Airport: From the airport, take a taxi for $20-30 and spend 20 minutes or take the Red Max train from the airport to the Rose Quarter and change to the Yellow Max train to Kenton Station then walk to the house. It usually takes 1-1.5 hours and costs $2.50.

  • This must be the best Airbnb in the area, particularly considering its value. It's a lovely, quiet home in a very interesting transitional neighborhood , a few blocks from a max station and right on a bus line. Maylene and Charity are extremely considerate and responsible and provide the kind of unobtrusive and welcoming presence I remember from B&Bs back in the old days. It was an easy place to share space with the other visitors and everything was conveniently arranged and organized. My only consideration in giving them such an excellent review is that I would like to be able to find a few days to spend there every once in a while.

  • Had to go to Portland on business and had the pleasure to stay with Maylene and Charity. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I definitely will be back if they let me. As I was closing the door on my final exit I finally read the note on the door (in large letters by the way) to help them train their new dog by ignoring her unless given permission by them.....sorry, you probably thought I couldn't read or something.....

  • The Sunnyside room was exactly as described by Maylene & Charity. I loved that there were no surprises while staying here. Their communication was excellent and I found the framed notes on the wall extremely helpful. Their home was immaculate and it was very easy to find everything. I stayed right during a water scare there and they made sure I was aware of the situation and kept me updated. Maylene & Charity were wonderful hosts and I enjoyed talking with them while I was there. I would highly recommend this convenient location, an easy drive to the airport and downtown Portland.

  • It was a fabulous stay! Marlene and Charity could've not been more helpful. Everything was as represented and then some. We would definitely return for another visit.

  • Maylene and Charity have a beautiful home and I had a great stay with them! I brought my bike with me to Portland and they had great advice on which bike routes to take and even had maps. It was nice after a day full of riding to come home to a comfy bed, Netflix, and tea I made in their kitchen. I was the only guest in the house that weekend and Charity and Maylene were usually busy doing their own thing, so i had a lot of privacy which was nice! The Kenton neighbourhood is just off the I-5 and super easy to get to by car. There is a yellow Max stop only 10 minutes away by walking so getting around town is no problem. I would love to stay there the next time I'm in town!
