Description

This unique house is over 125 years old and made of redwood planks that were brought in by train from California. I have spent thousands of hours lovingly restoring and enhancing it with period details for contemporary comfort.

Traditional American hospitality in a 125-y.o. redwood house centrally located by the University of Arizona campus. Free on-street parking.

The guest room has a queen-size bed and a comfortable chair with reading lamp, as well as a dresser, double closet, cd/radio, and plenty of sunlight. Your private bath has a clawfoot tub with shower. Your private entrance is via a private porch overlooking the uniquely landscaped back yard.
The owner is an artist/writer/filmmaker, and the house and yard have a quiet, welcoming atmosphere.
Restoration and renovation of the interior of this unique historic house is now complete, with central heat and A/C and all modern conveniences.

The guest bedroom and private bath, private porch, living room, pantry, kitchen, large deck & yard. Washer/drier.

Conversation, especially about local restaurants, directions, etc. I respect my guests' privacy and expect the same.

Architectural variety and historic homes. A mixed population (homeowners, students from around the world, etc.) and a pleasant atmosphere of quiet streets as well as busy coffee shops and restaurants. Pie Allen neighborhood is listed on the National Historic Register.

Maddox House is within walking distance of dozens of shops and restaurants and cultural activities as well as Tucson's popular Fourth Avenue district and downtown. Public transportation is close by, including the new streetcar line.

Maddox House is not wheelchair accessible, as there are stairs on the property and inside the house.

The location of Bob's place is really good. It's very close to the University of Arizona and close to the pick up place of the shuttle from Tuscon to Phenix airport. The bedroom and bathroom was big, clean, comfortable and private. Bob prepared everything a traveler needs, from band-aid to torch. He was very nice and showed me around when I arrived. I strongly recommend this place.

Bob and the Maddox house are both terrific. The house is in a great location, Bob was very accommodating, and the house itself was very unique for Tucson. I can't recommend it enough! Perfect for downtown life or as a base for going around town.

Bob User ProfileBob is a superhost.

I'm an artist, and I've been in the visual and performing arts all my life--that's almost 60 years, now! Currently, I'm writing and producing a feature film. I'm easygoing and my home is peaceful and, above all, comfortable. My guests often remark on the quiet and relaxed atmosphere in my house. I love referring people to remarkable local restaurants and out-of-the-way places they wouldn't discover on their own. I enjoy good friends, good food, and good conversation.
