This unique house is over 125 years old and made of redwood planks that were brought in by train from California. I have spent thousands of hours lovingly restoring and enhancing it with period details for contemporary comfort.

We stayed with Bob for 5 days and it was really comfortable. Though it is a small house, it is set up for privacy for the guests. (Robes are provided for trips to the bathroom) Bob is generous with sharing the living room and kitchen and we enjoyed making simple cold breakfasts and an occasional dinner there. When we were not biking or visiting local friends, we were very comfortable reading on the couch in the living room, in the wicker chairs on the porch off our bedroom or in bed with the nice reading lamps. An unexpected pleasure was our conversations with Bob about literature, 17th century France and many other subjects.
Bob is a knowledgeable & gracious host. His house is eclectic & charming, situated near the University of AZ & close to everything. He's a great conversationalist - very interesting - yet he knows when to let you be. Just two days & we feel like friends. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Staying at the Maddox house with Bob was wonderful! Bob was a great host, very friendly, welcoming and knowledgable, and the house is clean and simply adorable. I loved the inspired decor, and back porch overlooking the garden. Great location too. I will definitely stay again when I return to Tucson!
Wonderful location - walking distance to downtown, 4th avenue and the university. Bob is a wonderful host and the room is very comfortable and private. The bathroom and clawfoot tub was a welcomed bonus! Would recommend highly to anyone visiting Tucson for the first or 100th time!
What can one say! Bob is more than fantastic. Interesting, kind, delightful human being. Meeting him was an absolute treat and was one of the highlights of our visit to Tucson. My daughter and I both fell in love with Bob's home. It has been put together with love and attention. My 17 year old daughter felt it should be in a magazine. Next time I come to Tucson, I know where I would like to stay. No need to look elsewhere (and I'm the adventurous type.) If your planning a trip to Tucson - I can't recommend Maddox House more highly. Thank you for a great visit Bob.
The property is as advertised and pictured. Bob is an interesting and engaging host. Breakfast and conversation came with the stay. Two blocks from the University of Arizona campus. No Internet connection at Maddox House.
Everything listed and advertised in AirBnB website was accurate. In addition, during my visit Bob assisted me with a very welcome cup of tea and chocolate and (if I needed or wanted) local tour suggestions. The accommodation itself was peaceful, quiet and conveniently located in Tucson. As I am a house renovation fan, I was very interested in the house itself and various artistic implementatuons which Bob has made to his place, especially the historical references. Really liked the bathroom, also bedroom door opening onto a lush backyard.
I would visit again !
It's a very comfortable, cozy, private room. The little outdoor patio is a great place to relax. Bob provided everything I needed, and was a kind and considerate host.
Bob's home is amazing. A lot of care, attention to detail, and creativity has gone into this home, and Bob is an incredibly talented artist, craftsman, and writer. A true visionary. I would come back in a heartbeat for the incredible bathroom alone!
Spending a day in Tucson is crazy, especially when you realize the place you are going to stay is Maddox house. Bob is a great host friendly and fascinating. The house is simply adorable, every detail is so full of love and care! I can't wait to go back to Tucson for a longer stay. I deeply recommend Maddox House at anyone who is looking for a place to concentrate on his creativity or just waiting for an insight in his life.
