This can be your quiet Park Slope Haven from the craziness of Downtown New York. Park Slope is largely regarded as one of the best neighborhoods in all of New York City, and if you're not familiar with it, it's similar to the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Personally, I think it's way better than the upper west side, but, of course, I live here!
This is a junior one bedroom, which means that the bedroom is separated by a half wall. It is a queen size bed, and there is a full-size fold-out futon in the living room. I have a desk space, electronic keyboard for your playing pleasure, and kitchen with full fridge, gas stove, and eating nook. Bathroom has a small vintage claw-tooth bathtub!
This apartment is on the second floor of a three story brownstone on 15th street and 7th Avenue in Park Slope. Around the corner you can find the best Vietnamese Sandwiches in town (Henry's), a fabulous Austrain bar/restaurant, tons of cute cafes, resale shops, basically anything you would want or need, right around the corner. Two blocks and you are walking in the best and largest park in New York City, Prospect Park. Right there is also a movie theater. If this neighborhood can't give you exactly what you want, or you want to explore more, the F and G trains are 6 easy blocks away, and the R is 5 blocks in the opposite direction. The G is great access to much of your Brooklyn locations, while the F goes quickly and reliably through DUMBO(Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass- the closest neighborhood to Manhattan, but still in Brooklyn) to the lower east side and up through the center of Manhattan.
For the September 2014 dates, there is a kitty staying here!!! So if you are a cat lover, this is the place for you! You would need to feed him dry food twice a day and water. It's very simple, but the love he gives back to you is priceless!!
There is a vast variety of kitchen items, such as a blender, cuisinart, cocktail shakers, etc! And of course wifi.
This is a real brownstone. That means you get the perks of beautiful details in the wood-work throughout the apartment, especially in the light fixture in the living room and the ceiling in the kitchen. I also love how the kitchen has a glass cabinet and display shelves above the sink. What also comes with a brownstone is that you may hear people walking above you or someone playing music below. This is just the reality of older flooring. There are only three units in the building, but as they are trying their best to be respectful of you, we ask that you be respectful to those people likewise.
4-day stay in April.
Pre-arrival, Abby was excellent in responding to e-mails, and remained responsive throughout our trip, and even afterwards.
The apartment is on the second floor of a brownstone facing the garden and apartment building behind it. Not elegant, but not worn out. Looked like updating was happening in the hallway. Great location; half a block to lots of shops on 7th Ave. Pleasant 7 min walk to G, F trains on 10th St. We found that station easier to use than the D, N, (email hidden)e photos are mostly accurate, but now there's more clutter, and they don't quiet capture the smallness of the space. The junior bedroom is actually an alcove, separated from the living area by a 40" wide vertical dividing wall. It's really all one space, with a tight kitchen and tiny bathroom.
We used both the bed and the futon, and the mattresses on both are wonderful. The futon is difficult to use, and definitely takes effort to unfold and fold.
No TV, landline or radio. The apartment is mostly quiet, and one can hear people walking around upstairs, but nothing out of the ordinary, and neighbors were quiet at night. The apartment is well heated and there plenty of hot water.
We shared the apartment with Abby's cat, who is very well-behaved. Unfortunately, the uncovered litter box is in the tiny bathroom, and the litter gets kicked into the bathroom rug, and the odor permeates the apartment. I changed the litter on the second day, and that helped. (Note: the litter box was clean when we arrived, and I am appreciative of that.)
This apartment very much represents the soul of Airbnb: we felt like we were staying in the home of a real person. This also means that the cleanliness wasn't exactly to hotel standards, but nothing I haven't seen in my own home. (There was a one-time issue with the tub which Abby noticed on her own, and Abby graciously offered to refund part of our cleaning fee, without me having to ask. She comes across as very trustworthy and as wanting to help guests have a good experience. I'm so much happier having my money go to her than a corporation.)
Abby's place is great for a Brooklyn experience. We loved the location, 2 min walk for a great cup of coffee.
7th avenue also has many shops and restaurants.
Abby left us the key to the apartment, as she could not meet us. But that was no problem at all. She was very thorough with the information she gave us.
There was a problem with the drain in the tub, but it was fixed when we got there.
The cat was also very nice and so cute!
Abby's apartment is really nice, it was perfect for our stay in New York, it's in a really pretty neighborhood, close to many different subway lines, so it's easy to go anywhere! Plus her cat is just adorable! :)
The apartment is in a good neighborhood and the 7th avenue has many shops and good restaurants.
Abby welcomed us very well and she was available and reactive to answer us when needed.
However, we had issues with the bathtub that was partly clogged. Hope that was just temporary!
Abby has a great little apartment in a great location! We (a couple on a Valentine/birthday vacation) had a lovely time petting her tubby orange cat and eating amazing bagels from a couple blocks away. Great kitchen, comfy bed. Abby was really responsive and helpful. We'll look to her place first thing if we plan to stay in NYC again!
Abby, thank you very much for keeping your place clean and well maintained. The apartment is located in the heart of Park Slope,Brooklyn. Convenience, Convinience , Convinience!!!! Literally 5 min walk to the nearest train station , which is about 4 stops away from Manhattan. It is a great neighborhood with all kinds of nice restaurants and bars. If you are looking to pay a Brooklyn price but still be a part of the big city , then Abbys is your choice. The place was clean and stocked with all the necessary home supplies(towels,linens,e.t.c.)
Abby was very friendly and very helpful with booking, answering every little question we had. Everything was based in trust , and we were never disappointed. Oh , forgot to mention : The place had free unlimited WiFi!!!! Highly recommended everyone !!!! Thanks again Abby!!!
I really enjoyed my stay at Abby's apartment. The apartment was in a wonderful location in Park Slope, just off of 7th Avenue with excellent restaurants and coffee shops nearby.
Throughout my stay, Abby was very responsive to my questions. The apartment was clean and cozy. I would definitely stay again!
I am a singer/performing artist. I mainly sing opera and contemporary music, as well as Baroque classical, though I love opportunities to do something different, as in musical theater or playing cello with a rock band. I'm easy-going and friendly, love to travel, though New York has been my home for 9 years! It's a really amazing city, and I believe there are few cities where I actually could make my living work, so I am happy to be here. I do, however, love the opportunities to perform AND travel, and through performing have traveled to Mongolia, Indonesia, all around Europe and, well, the US and Canada. I also lived in Florence, Italy for about 6 months, so my Italian is still OK, and Vienna, Austria for about four months. My boyfriend currently lives in LA, though, so I tend to travel west these days more than east when I can help it!
I will continue to be happier every day when I move closer to making a good living performing, tackling the major issues of our humanity through performance, traveling the world, meeting new people, and sharing new experiences!
