About this listing
Private Suite across from lake! Suite has own entrance, bedrm w/ 2 beds , lg family rm w/3 beds + fireplace & kitchenette; Can close suite off from rest of floor where there is a laundry, our office, your bath & our student's rm that shares the bath.
Just off the family room, your room has a queen bed and day bed. TV for vhs movies (great movies provided) in closet.
Your private room with a queen and single bed is in a 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor of our home. You will have the place mostly to yourself. We currently have an exchange student staying in the second room. You will be sharing the bathroom, but not the family room, with him. Keep in mind we live upstairs. We try to tread softly, but you can occasionally hear us moving around. Guests have said, it's not a bother.
Three people are most comfortably accommodated, but if you have a larger group, extra people can fit into the family room on beds. It is connected to your bedroom and there is a queen sleeper couch with a tempurpedic topper and a daybed plus trundle bed with nice mattresses.
We live upstairs. The house is situated across the street from Angle Lake, where living is like vacationing! You can see a peak of the lake from the upper deck but not from the Suite. But just 5 houses away is access to a neighborhood private beach & a public park is 1/4 block away. We are 1 mile from the airport (not under the flight path, so it's relatively quiet.)
We offer airport pick up for $10 ($20 late night) and free parking during your stay. Long term parking while traveling is $3 per day.
Basically, the ground floor is for guests. The private entrance opens into the family room and your bedroom is connected to that. Down the hall is our office & a second room occupied by our student. We come down occasionally to use our office and laundry, but we can do that without entering your space.
The bedroom has a comfy twin size bed and a queen bed. Clean pillows and sheets always, plus beds will be sanitized by a UV Light Saber that kills 99.9% of all germs, bacteria and viruses.
In your room, there is a large window to open for fresh air, but it is below grade so looks into a large alcove with a tree in it.
There is a small kitchenette (8' x 9') between the family room and the bedroom. There is no stove but we have tried to make up for it by adding all these things: a microwave, a toaster, portable convection oven, egg cooker, electric fry pan, electric grill, induction stove top cooking element, hot pad element, George Foreman grill, dishes and utensils. There is a kitchen type counter and cupboards and drawers. The sink is in the laundry room.
Down the hall painted as a stream is a restroom and laundry room. The shower has a great rain head and hand held wand you will enjoy.
The laundry room has a washer, dryer, espresso machine, drip coffee maker, hot water pot, refrigerator and laundry sink.
You have your own entrance on the right side of the house through to the back of the carport. There is a bank of windows and then your door. You can use the code to open the door and enter into the apartment's family room. Your bedroom is to the right. As you have your own entrance, you can come and go as you wish.
If you wish, you can continue through the carport to the stairs up to the back yard and huge deck with tables, a porch swing, a fire pit, a barbecue, badminton and ping pong. You are welcome to use all.
Interaction with Guests
If I am home, you will be greeted warmly and shown around and given the tour. If not, you may check yourself in using the combination lock on the door and our house information guide.
We will leave you to enjoy your suite on your own. We may come down to the office or laundry. If you are in the hall you may see us. You can close the suite off from the hall with bifold doors.
Don't be shy about asking for our help. Call or text me and if I don't respond immediately ring the interior door bell by the stairs to the upstairs.
I come and go and am often home, but love interacting with guests, if you desire; that is what the BnB experience is all about.
FUN THINGS TO DO NEARBY
You will love this home in a safe, friendly neighborhood, just steps from Angle Lake and it's beautiful park. Swim or fish in one of the cleanest lakes in the city (boats are restricted to 8 mph.) The park has a separate water feature for little ones. There is a playground, several picnic areas and fishing.
A YMCA is 3 blocks away with a pool and large work out center. The mall and movie theaters are 3.6 miles away. A fun center and indoor skydiving are just a bit further.
Within 1/2 mile of the house there are several hotels with restaurants, a Jack in the Box, a Taco Bell, Dave's which is an old fashion diner, a new Mango Thai place, 13 Coins, Sharp's Roaster, a Denny's, and a 7-11. Just a walk through the park is a Casino.
It's a half mile to the entrance to SeaTac Airport terminal and 1.3 miles to the Light Rail for Downtown Seattle. Buses to both are a short walk through the Park. I provide transportation to and from both for $5 to $20 depending on time of day or night.
Other Things to Note
We have no children living here, but 2 cats rule (Butter Nuggets and Feral.) Our Collie dog, King, loves and protects. Animals can be restricted from the entire basement upon request. Note to those with allergies; although pets are now restricted from your bedrooms at all times they pass through the family room when we aren't looking. If you wish to chance it, I will clean like crazy before you come. So far, one guest with cat allergies had an allergic reaction while another did not.
TIME: Let me know in advance the time you plan to check in and out.
Keep written communication between us through the Airbnb site as it alerts me 3 different ways so I am sure to get your message. Also, if I forget details, I can quickly review messages. It is a good idea to change your settings on your airbnb site to forward any messages to you by text so you don't miss any last minute messages from me. You can also call me, but if you don't reach me, leave a message on Airbnb site or text me.
Please be polite and use civil language, as Grandma is a southern belle.
HOURS: Quiet is requested after 9 pm weekdays & 10 pm weekends. Note: if you are in the sitting room or your bedroom, you can chat & watch TV. That noise level does not carry.
MOVIES: If you order a movie ON DEMAND or via NETFLIX, please leave cash to cover it in the guest book.
BE GREEN & CLEAN: Please observe recycling and water conservation. If you mess it up, clean it up. If you break or lose something, tell us. We don't care much about things, but we want to know to keep things nice for others.
FOOD: You may cook in the kitchenette area off the family room. There is no stove, but there is an induction cooktop, a single stove element, a George Foreman grill, a big grill, a toaster oven and microwave.
BREAKFAST: Limited snacks are available in the freezer (mostly muffins, waffles and bread). If I have time to make a full on breakfast, I am happy to. I love introducing folks to my southern mother in law's biscuits and chocolate gravy. Friends would arrange sleep overs with her kids just so they could get biscuits and chocolate gravy for breakfast! For $10 each you get food, full service and an experience to talk about. If you need dinner and we have time this can be arranged for $15.
Tani-Rae was so welcoming and was really helpful in showing me around, including the beautiful Lake just a few minutes walk from the house. You have to check it out and swim if you can! :)
The bedroom and living room/kitchenette area I had use of was really homely, and had everything I needed.
I’m hoping you meant homey about the living room and kitchenette. That is what others have said. But I suppose homely fits as well as it is not an official kitchen but a counter and cupboard with every conceivable appliance available to make up for it not having a stove.
This was a great place to stay and Tani made me feel very welcome. Once my brothers and I arrived, she was there to show us around and answer any questions we had. The space was a perfect place to rest our head and had all the amenities if we needed it. It was our first time in Seattle, so we were in and out a lot, and we were able to come and go freely, always able to park and arriving later in the night. The lakes in the neighborhood are absolutely breathtaking and I was able to enjoy some time there as well. It really is not far from SeaTac and access to the rail for more of Seattle. I wish I could've stayed more nights and I definitely plan to when I'm visiting Seattle again.
We reached later than expected but Tani had left plenty of notes and info for us that made it super easy to check in for the night. The house is equipped with almost everything you will ever need and is beautifully decorated. There was plenty of space for all of us . Will definitely come back for the next visit
The "Suite by the Lake" worked out quite well for us. We had things we needed to do in Federal Way and also wanted to do some touristy things in Seattle. Being half way in between and close to public transport in both directions was great. A trip in either direction took about an hour by bus an/or train.
We slept well in our cozy room and enjoyed having a living room to hang out in in the evening. Even more than that we enjoyed being able to borrow a kayak and paddle around the lake. If we had had more time we might have gone swimming the next evening. It was certainly very inviting.
Thanks for helping make our visit to Seattle such a pleasant one!
Tani Rae was very helpful and accommodating. The place was clean and cozy and felt like we were staying with relatives:) Tani even shuttled us to the Light Rail to make sure we got to the Mariner game on time. I would highly recommend this location to anybody.
Was a short visit, but found Tani easy to communicate with. Kept her apprised with our late check in and she made our one night stay very relaxing. Thanks for letting us stay at your beautiful residence.

About the Host, Tani Rae
My husband Jonathan and I are a fun and loving couple... and funny too. (well, we think we're hilarious) We love our house and our neighborhood (big back yard with ping pong & badminton, the lake and the park each 100 paces from our door). We think it is all too wonderful to keep to ourselves. Such a great place should be shared. And in sharing we are blessed by meeting amazing people. We loved hosting kids studying here from other countries. We hosted 27 over the years. We hope to visit them all when we retire.
My husband loves to cook and golf. I work from home on my website, ilovemymind. I research brain health and human potential and maintain a blog on how to keep your mind young and sharp as you age. I am fascinated about health, archaeology and marketing. Jonathan is fascinating, able to speak on almost any topic and is (as he puts it) full of useless facts. He wants to learn guitar. I want to improve my Italian language skills. We are positive and accepting people. Our family motto is; to respect, protect and empower.
We live across from the cleanest swimming lake in Seattle. I swim across it (and back) in the summer. Jonathan would love to golf more than work, but for now Boeing wins out for his time as a project manager in Employee Engagement. He mentors young people and is writing a book "Mentoring, Changing the World, One Person at a Time." We have been married 26 years (thanks to the golden rule, which we follow.)
We lived in Italy for three years, while in the Navy. We have great photos and love to talk about it. We are in our 50's with a ballerina daughter who lives in North Seattle. We currently have an international students from Taiwan who is like the son we never had. We have hosted many people in our home over the years and have had wonderful reviews from them all. People kept saying, you should open a B&B. Voila. Here we go.
