Loved staying in your beautiful condo! Waking up every morning to the sounds of birds and waves crashing set the tone for beautiful days on the big island. Everything was thought of by our amazing hosts Gene and Charlie and I can't say enough about their amazing condo.
We had a great vacation on the Big Island, with Gene and Charlie's convenient, comfortable, and well-equipped condo as our base. The condo is on the ocean side of Ali'i Drive, part of a medium-sized complex and a short walk to the beach town of Kailua-Kona. The condo overlooks the swimming pool (great for families) and has a view of the ocean from the lanai, or balcony. Although there's no beach here, there are tide pools in the rocks on site and several good beaches nearby, as well as restaurants and shops. The marina, where the dive boats are docked, is a quick 15-minute drive north--very convenient. Our stay at Gene and Charlie's was inexpensive enough that we were able to visit the Kilauea Volcano 2 1/2 hours away and stay the night at the Kilauea Lodge--a great thing to do. Overall, we were very happy with the condo itself and its location, and we found Gene and Charlie to be very responsive to e-mails and extremely helpful and informative as we planned our itinerary.
Excellent communication and the unit was exactly as advertised, modern, clean, very well equipped with some interesting decorations and collectibles. We immediately felt at ease and at home. The complex is well managed and the staff were helpful in helping us find our way around.
Gene and Charlie were the most amazing hosts. The condo was tasteful and so well presented. Everything you could think of was provided. The instructions how to access the condo, local must-do information provided, reassurance that everything was available. Nothing was too much trouble and Gene was always accessible. The bed was so comfortable. My stay was fantastic. Thank you Gene and Charlie!
Gene and Charlie are the ultimate hosts. Not only is their condo even more beautiful than the photos show, it was stocked with everything you could need for a vacation in paradise. Forgot a hair dryer, check. Didn't pick up sunblock at the store, check check. Need a boogie board, snorkel gear or beach chairs, check check check. I could go on and on about how wonderful the experience was. They were extremely responsive throughout the whole process, even when i had a few changes, and made it as seamless as possible, without being intrusive. The condo is in a great location; I walked to town quite a few times, and there's a great coffee shop like 200 yards away. I had such a great experience, I even suggested my parents stay there when they are in town, knowing how "particular" my mom is, and am 100% confident that this condo will exceed her expectations. Why stay in a boring resort for hundreds of dollars more a night when you could stay here, with all the amenities of home, but in paradise?!
it has been quite the rough week adjusting to life back on the mainland. we were able to make ourselves right at home in your beautiful oceanview 1 bedroom condo. to arrive to such a well appointed home base was just what we needed. a kitchen filled with cookware, a bathroom filled with towels, plenty of extra sunblock, a cooler, even some snorkling gear and a boogie board. the condo itself is beautiful, they did a wonderful job incorporating comfort and style into this seaside dwelling. breakfast on the lanai is a must. the reservation process was simple, as well as instructions for arrival and entry into the condo. they were also kind enough to allow us a little extra time to use the pool before we headed out our last afternoon in paradise. =)
The apartment is beautifully appointed with the best of everything. The view is over the ocean and the binoculars on the balcony are great for watching birds and boats. We had a bit of construction going on at a neighbouring complex (putting up roof tiles) and the truck arrived early waking us with the reversing beeps and later with the equipment but apart from that the place was everything we could have hoped for and more. Its location is excellent with no traffic noise (a big bonus after Waikiki where we couldn't get a moment's peace). Kailhua-Kona is a great place to relax and as a base for touring the Big Island. You do need a car (Mustang Convertable was our weapon of choice), but there is plenty to do. Make sure you spend some quality time at the Holualoa Village where atists and crafts people have their studios and galleries. The best coffee we had anywhere was at the cafe there and the restaurant food was excellent too.
