The Space

We live in a large, very quiet 1906 apartment with 13' ceilings, a working fireplace, sunny rooms with lots of plants, and an aquarium. There are always orchids in bloom. I am an art rep and the apartment is filed with original artworks.

We have a great kitchen, lots of cookware and staples if you want to cook. There is always coffee and tea for the mornings and local wines to share with guests. I am happy to provide some breakfast items in the morning - ( let me know what you would like ahead of your arrival - bagels, yogurt, cereal, etc). If you prefer there are several cafes right outside on the street that offer a full breakfast menu.

Your private room is fully furnished with a very comfortable twin size bed, TV, working fireplace, wifi and fresh linens. The room is very sunny and warm. There are also two plush chaise that are great for reading and sipping wine by the fire - just ask me and I'll build a fire in the fireplace for you to enjoy! Everyone loves the sunny, shared bathroom which has lots of hot water and great water pressure.

**If you are a couple traveling together and looking for a double/full size bed accommodations - please look at my other listing at the same address - 'Charming, sunny room, best location')

'Lower Pacific Heights' is one of the best areas in San Francisco:
On this block there are lots of cafes, bars and restaurants, yoga studios, (Solstice Restaurant & Lounge, Tataki Sushi, The Mindful Body, Cumicia Coffee)
Short walk to upper Fillmore Street, and Laural Village & Sacramento) - these are upscale shopping and eating and drinking...
Laundry and a cleaners are directly across the street from apartment.

" The apartment is in a fabulous location where a vehicle is not necessary. Everything you can possibly want or need is walking distance or a short bus ride away! - Ruth

I recommend taking on of the van shuttle services from the airport - $20 inc tip; a taxi will cost up to $60. Tell the driver the address, and zip code (94115), and you should be at the apartment in about an hour depending on who gets dropped off first, etc. A taxi will get you here in about 20-30 minutes

  • Really nice apartment and Johnny (email hidden) that took time to give us info about what to do in San Francisco and the rest of the roadtrip. Very good!

  • My host Johnny was absolutely wonderful. Very friendly, welcoming, and informative of his neighborhood surroundings. The ad was exactly what I expected and what it said. The neighborhood is great. A bit on the posh side so very safe!! Buses and taxis available outside his door and a central location for restaurants, laundry mats, cafes, shopping, grocery stores, and wine stores. Overall a nice experience and would rent his room again. Chicklena

  • Loved the location of this charming spot. Johnny (email hidden) - reliable, friendly, generous and respectful. I was very comfortable in the space and was quite mesmerized by the lovely art. Beautiful experience. I also felt safe walking around the neighborhood at night. I have no complaints and will definitely stay with Johnny again if I were to return to San Francisco.

  • I enjoyed my stay at Johnny's charming apartment. If you're looking for unique decor, a super comfortable bed, and a generously sized room, this is it. A big plus for me was the fireplace in the room. Perfect for curling up to read a book after a long day in the city. Johnny was perfect in every way. I requested help with getting the fire started before I returned from a late dinner. I texted him 30 minutes before returning home and he obliged (fire was lit when I got to the apartment -- casting a warm glow in the room).

Johnny provides linens, plenty of blankets, and toiletries. A big plus if you don't want to cart extra stuff in your luggage. Also, tea and coffee (and wine if you like). All in all, a wonderful stay!

  • Johnny was very helpful in carrying up my ridiculous amount of luggage up while i returned my rental car, as parking is quite challenging in this neighborhood. I suggest the Japantown center garage. The funky apt is filled with an array fine art which Johnny is very enthusiastic about. i especially enjoyed the large freshwater aquarium and his orchid collection. I stayed in the "living room" which had plenty of privacy, but faces the street, so has some ambient noise, especially on weekend nights. when i asked johnny to turn up the heat for me, he was happy to (email hidden) to sleep, after an activity-filled day in the city.

  • I had a nice stay at Johnny's place. The room was spacious and the apartment has everything you need. Johnny (email hidden) and wanting to make sure everything was fine even though he was away during my stay there. The neighborhood is safe with good cafes around, and very convenient with bus directly to downtown.

I am originally from North Carolina (yes, i still have my 'southern' accent even after 27 years living in San Francisco. I am fine art and commercial photographer ((website hidden)), and I have founded and run several 3 galleries in San Francisco ((website hidden)) and produced many art events to raise money for non-profits. I am also an artist coach and still maintain my connections to sell art by local artists. I love traveling when time and finances permit. I've been to Egypt, Turkey, London, Paris, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Hawaii of course if you live on the west coast ! I want to go to Asia or Peru next..... I must have my coffee first thing in the morning and have been known to get coffee across the street....so that I can meet a friend for coffee later. I will eat pretty much anything unless it is really hot and spicy. I love red wine, wine tastings.....and who doesnt like margaritas. However, martini's at "The Top of the Mark" is what you drink there.
