Love Horses? A recent guest had this to say: ". I would HIGHLY suggest you take some horse lessons during your stay, it will feed your soul, and Kate is a master at her craft in her ability to connect with the horses." See more at: Natural Horsemanship On Orcas. I offer private lessons for horse handling skills and riding for those who have shown success working with the horses on the ground. Learn to play games with horses who are free ( at liberty) learning the language of the horse, games to capture attention and how to connect with love and friendship and not force. See: Natural Horsemanship on Orcas. ( Age 9 and up )

It's so beautiful, peaceful and quiet! Birdsong is the first thing you'll hear. Horses are wonderful to watch, hummingbirds, eagles, swallows every day. Flowers blooming the scent of lavender, a feeling of abundance in the earth. Just a short walk to see the water and snow capped mountains. A waterfowl preserve out the kitchen window!
FLY direct from Lake Union in Seattle to Deer Harbor. We can meet you at the dock and bring you to the cottage. A day long bus ticket is $15. Easy Walk to the Marina - about a mile. Driving to Orcas? Other Things to Note
Washington State now has a Ferry reservation system. Be sure to book a ticket in advance! Please note: GPS does not work well on Orcas and cell phones are spotty.
Please stay out of fenced pastures when horses are in them - for safety sake, and because the fences are electric. My older horses are all shades of brown, and they are friendly and confident. They are happy to meet you over the fence. I have a new (dun) honey colored mare who is just out of the wild and she has a new foal.
No smoking in or around the house.
Garbage cans are in the fenced area by the parking.
Feel welcome to use the washer/dryer.
We are happy to help in any way we can! Come on down if you need anything!
Kate and Ken Wood - Orcas Dreams - Our Horse Farm and our Real Estate Business. We are the lucky ones, living our dream on Orcas for over 27 years! We love helping people find a home on Orcas. When not selling Real Estate, you will see me with our 4 mustangs adopted from the wild. I teach Natural Horsemanship/Liberty work with them. Located in a private, quiet valley, overlooking a Bird Sanctuary, our guests say " this is paradise!".
My husband grows much of our own organic food and I grow flowers which I like to share with guests. He is also a builder and built both the cottage and our house.
