The Space

A 200 year old cottage in beautiful country location .Large living room with big comfy sofas to lounge in while you feed pot bellied stove on chilly evenings or sit outside in large garden and enjoy peace of country side.

2 double bedrooms ,one single room available .Prices are on a per person per night basis. Continental breakfast available. You may also make use of kitchen to prepare your own meals or snacks /tea or coffee freely available .Cot available for children .Private guest sitting room if required.
There is a hotel/spa/bar within walking distance. The Letterkenny Golf club is less than a mile away .Other leisure activities include fishing and horse riding ,bowling; pitch and putt ,walking and swimming.
The heritage town of Ramelton only a 5 min drive and the stunning beaches of Rathmullan and Portsalon are all within easy reach. The Glenveagh National Park and Castle are only a 20 minute drive away.We are also a short drive from the famous Ben Bulben mountain range and WB Yeats grave. There are lots of lovely restaurants in the area . Letterkenny is very good for shopping .
Derry City ,Belfast and the Giant's Causeway are within easy driving distance .Derry City has many wonderful sights such as the 400 year old City Walls and the Peace Bridge across the River Foyle.
The roadtrip to the Giant's Causeway is rated as one of the Top Five Roadtrips in the world ,visit Dunluce Castle, tour Bushmills Distillery and perhaps sample a wee dram.Or if you are feeling brave, cross Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. The views will take your breath away.
.The Dunfanahy jazz and blues festival held in September is a must see. The local area is an ideal location for a holiday involving country walks and healthy pursuits or if you just want to be close to all the sights of northern Ireland where you can indulge in your passion for good food and great wine. Maybe you will hear a few words of Irish spoken along the way in Donegal’s Gaeltacht (Irish speaking regions) or Sligo .
In Ireland we pride ourselves on our welcome ( " a stranger is just a friend we have yet to meet " ) and if I had one piece of advice for anyone planning a trip to Donegal or Ireland it would be to take your time . While my country is lovely it is the people you meet along the way who will make your trip forever memorable .....

  • Anne, Gus and their cats were lovely hosts! Anne was a great source of information about things to do and see in the area. Their home is charming--like staying with friends. The brook behind the house will sing you to sleep.

  • The old schoolhouse was everything that any traveller could ever wish for ... and even more! Imagine everything truly as lovely as in the pictures ... and even better!!! The bed in the "pink room" was so heavenly comfortable, that I overslept not just once during my 7-day-stay with Anne and Gus and the sound of the river at the back of the house was so calming, peaceful and idyllic ..., it lulled me to sleep every night. I have been warmly taken care of all the while with many information and tips provided on where to go on my daily travels in the beautiful Counties of Donegal, Tyrone and Antrim. I felt like I was at home from the moment I arrived, sipping tea, watching a BBC movie or a fun TV show at night, and cuddling my sweet, furry friend Spotty as well as Buster, who sat every morning on my bedroom window greeting me with a lovely "meow"! I miss all of you very much already and I hope to be back real soon! This is FIVE STAR accommodation at its very best in Ireland's most stunning, amazing and gorgeous countryside! Anne and Gus: YOU truly made this an unforgettable stay ... take care and see you soon!

  • I greatly thank Anne and Gus for their hospitality and their availability. I really felt like being at home. Like a cocoon. The quality of service is impeccable. With luxury details. The decor is very tasteful. A paradise for the ears : Only the soft murmur of a brook!
    I want to go back...

  • I had 4 nights with Anne and Gus at the end of September. They were both extremely kind, welcoming and hospitable. Their beautiful house is in a lovely tranquil location, though not too cut off from civilisation (only 10 minutes drive to Letterkenny). Anne was a mine of useful information and advice on where to go and what to see. Buster the cat is extremely cute and very funny. I will definitely return to Donegal and would not hesitate to stay with them again

  • We had a great stay with Anne and Gus in Letterkenny. They were very hospitable and helpful. They have done a wonderful job transforming the old schoolhouse. Our upstairs room was cosy and comfortable with great views. Their cats are very friendly. We would recommend staying here.

It was great to share some time with Anne and her husband.

  • I stayed at Anne and Gus' home with my daughter for 2 nights and I wish we had stayed a bit longer. The house is really lovely and cozy. The room was very comfortable. Anne was a great source of information about the region, and her insight into Irish culture and history was really interesting. She was a wonderful hostess. She gave us some chicken on the night of our arrival, to avoid for us to have to go out again with the little one. She had prepared some toys for my daughter in the room, and even gave her a bag full of goodies for her to take. The location is fantastic, you can make day trips to Inishowen or the Fanad Head. landscapes are gorgeous. Hopefully we can stay there again one day.

  • Our introduction to Ireland couldn't have been better with our stay at the old schoolhouse with Anne and Gus and the occasional cat(s). Anne and Gus are very gracious hosts. We were welcomed with a cup of tea and a chat on arrival and on another night, with a glass of wine and a fireside chat outside the "summer house". Our accommodation was in a gorgeous double bedroom with ensuite, beautifully decorated with some of Anne's artistic flourishes (and which also abound throughout the house). Lovely breakfasts comprised juices, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, bread, bagels, and tea and coffee on beautiful crockery. Anne also went out of her way to provide gluten free foods. Anne and Gus provided very helpful suggestions for day trips and eating out. We had a wonderful time driving to Fanad Head and eating out that night at the Bridge Bar in Ramelton. The old schoolhouse is a great base from which to explore County Donegal and also Derry. Thanks Anne and Gus for a lovely 3 night stay!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Anne and Gus and quite regretted having to leave! Anne's creative flair and artistic eye for detail make their home one of the cutest places we've ever visited. Our bed and room were really comfortable, the whole place was really clean but at the same time very homely. Breakfast selection was A-MAZ-ING! Anne made sure we had everything we needed, the perfect host! My husband and I enjoyed Anne and Gus's company and conversation! We'd love to visit again one day.

  • We stayed at Anne's place for a night during our trip around Ireland. The house was very big and confortable. They were very nice, we couldn't find the home and they came for us to reach the place!

Besides the breakfast was really good!

    Hope to see you again!
