About this listing

County Donegal is located in the north east of Ireland. So far north, that Donegal is home to Malin Head, the most northern tip of the Irish mainland. Its Gaelic name ‘Dún na nGall’ translates as “fort of the foreigners”, suggesting much of Donegal’s unique spirit. The county’s motto, ”Up here it’s different”, captures its distinctiveness, and distance from cosmopolitan Dublin. Donegal’s isolation from the rest of Ireland has left it with a mystery and wildness unlike anywhere else. This wildness has shaped its history. Donegal’s rocky and erratic landscape helped it to resist British invasion longer than other parts of Ireland. Blanketed in bog and heather, travelling through Donegal feels like a trip to the real Ireland. A four-hour drive from the capital, Donegal easily repays the journey. With castles, cottages and 300 miles of coastline, it is a special place its visitors truly never forget.

.The Dunfanahy jazz and blues festival held in September is a must see. The local area is an ideal location for a holiday involving country walks and healthy pursuits or if you just want to be close to all the sights of northern Ireland where you can indulge in your passion for good food and great wine. Maybe you will hear a few words of Irish spoken along the way in Donegal’s Gaeltacht (Irish speaking regions) or Sligo .
In Ireland we pride ourselves on our welcome ( " a stranger is just a friend we have yet to meet " ) and if I had one piece of advice for anyone planning a trip to Donegal or Ireland it would be to take your time . While my country is lovely it is the people you meet along the way who will make your trip forever memorable .....

Great area. Lovely brook and private secluded roads to walk about on. Anne made us feel very welcome upon arrival. Lovely breakfast in the am. Her two cats are so friendly. One in particular!! Would stay here again.

Anne and Gus were superb hosts. We can't say enough about helpful they were during our stay! Gus even made several phone calls for us to help us get a new tire as we had a flat on the way to their place and then later borrowed golf clubs for me to play golf We had a lovely room to ourselves and yet a part of the main house. Anne was so accommodating and friendly and presented a lovely breakfast for us. They were very interesting to talk with regarding many topics! When leaving we felt we were leaving old friends/family!! We would love to visit again one day with Anne and Gus

Very quaint home with an interesting history. Anne and Gus were gracious hosts and their cats were friendly too. Hope to get the recipe for the delicious cinnamon raisin bread.

What a nice experience to stay at Anne 's. Her house, its decorations totally atypical and original. Anne is a kind person and she made us feel welcomed. C'est une adresse sympa.
