About this listing

We would love to host you in our lovely and affordable space.

The space

Our place is a two bedroom urban oasis with a large living room, kitchen, and bathroom area just minutes from the subway. You will be sharing the space with two friendly and fun performers. We boast a calm, quiet, and peaceful place with great energy. We like to keep our apartment clean, clutter free, and provide a space where you can unwind from the bustle of the city. Your room would be the living room area with a super comfortable over-sized sofa and ottoman. The room has WiFi and is extremely cozy. There is also a curtain that you may choose to use for additional privacy. The apartment is warm and has minimal street noise for a quiet and comfortable night's sleep.

The apartment is located just 5 blocks from the F, Q, and R trains in South Park Slope and is an easy 15 minute subway ride into lower Manhattan and a 35 min subway ride into Midtown. The apartment is situated in the industrial part of South Park Slope, however, is in a very safe location. We are five minute walk from a great selection of locally owned bars, unique and fabulous restaurants, and eclectic shopping. There are some great yoga studios within walking distance, a YMCA, and multiple gyms close by. Additionally, we are a ten-minute walk to Prospect Park.

Building and Parking:
The building is a ten unit brick apartment complex that is bug-free. We live on the fourth floor of a walk-up, so please note that there is no elevator and there are stairs. Although we do not recommend having a car in the city, street parking is not hard to find near the apartment. If you do choose to park on the street please pay attention to street cleaning closures.

We provide: sheets, pillows, blankets, towels and toiletries such as: shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors. We have a fully stocked kitchen and some space in the fridge reserved for your perishable items.

We use all natural cleaning products for those that might have allergies or be sensitive to harsh chemicals or smells.

Check Out/Check In:
Check out is at 12:00 pm (This is a suggested time to accommodate our guests. If you should require additional time we can stow your packed luggage.)
Check in is at 2:00 pm. (Again, this is a suggested to to accommodate incoming guests. Your check in can be earlier provided that there is no guest prior to your arrival.)

Our preference is to host people who have a history and reviews on Air B and B, however, if you are a first-timer we request that you have an updated biography and photo(s) and provide us with a short description of your trip to New York City.

House Rules:
We ask that you respect the space and our neighbors by maintaining quiet hours before 8:00 am and after 11:00 pm.
This is a no smoking building and apartment.
We just ask that you please help to keep our space tidy and beautiful.

We welcome you to New York, our home, and want to make sure that your stay here is fabulous!

Guest access

Guests will have access to all communal spaces: Living Room, Kitchen, Bathroom. Additionally, guests have access to WiFi, storage space, refrigerator, bathroom toiletries and occasionally Raymond delicious food might be on hand!

Interaction with guests

We love to get to know our guests and have made many wonderful friends through Air B and B, however, we want to respect your space and time and are sensitive to someone who might prefer to keep to themselves. With that said we have enjoyed many a meal in the neighborhood, Thanksgiving Day celebrations, wine/beer/tea at our Magic Kitchen Table, and great conversations with all of our wonderful guests.

Other things to note

As a courtesy, we ask guests to arrive for check-in at our apartment prior to 10:00 pm as both of us have daytime jobs.

Heather and Raymond were some of the best hosts a guest could ask for. More accommodating than a hotel will ever be. They make you feel right at home! I was a little skeptical because you are staying in a living room, but they make you feel as though you have your own room. When I go back to New York I will be sure to stay with Heather and Raymond again, and most definitely will recommend someone to stay there!

My stay started before I got to the door. Raymond accommodated me by allow me to check in really late at night. When I finally arrived he was so sweet and nice. He even helped me carry my heavy bags up the stairs. Throughout my stay, we'd run into each other in the kitchen, where made me laugh and made me tea with Tumeric, which fact or not, I now believe will keep me from getting cancer. That's the kind of home this is-- accommodating, chill, and cancer free. Then Heather showed up. Heather was a ray of sunshine. She was tall, with a young smiling face that makes you feel like you're in a commercial where everything is great, and if it's not, it will be soon. A commercial actor and I think a life coach, Heather gave me life advice that motivated me to go after my dreams. The two roommates are the type of people everyone should experience in their lives at least once. Stay here. Oh, and it's clean and neat and all that too. don't worry.

Raymond and Heather were so helpful! They took me in at a very last minute request and were so accommodating. They helped me navigate the neighborhood and provided great food recommendations. The space is fairly private but it is a living room. I had what I think is an atypical experience where a neighbor's dog barked uncontrollably for hours. Heather was great about it but it was tough, and a long night... The apartment is close to the subway and to a really lively neighborhood. Everything was very clean and Raymond gave a great welcome. I felt like I was at a friend's home. I will be so grateful to them for making me feel so at home when I felt so out of my element in NYC!

Believe the hype. Raymond and Heather are warm, genuine, accommodating, and super friendly without being overbearing. They basically allowed me to take over the entire living room so it was essentially a private room rather than a shared room. The place was spotless and the location hard to beat. Highly recommended, thanks y'all!

I really enjoyed my stay at Ray & Heather's stay ! Although I didn't get the chance to see Heather, I had the pleasure to chat with Ray. He gave me useful places to visit or go (yumyum the tacos place !). The place deserves its 'oasis' nickname :))
