We would love to host you in our lovely and affordable space.
Our place is a two bedroom urban oasis with a large living room, kitchen, and bathroom area just minutes from the subway. You will be sharing the space with two friendly and fun performers. We boast a calm, quiet, and peaceful place with great energy. We like to keep our apartment clean, clutter free, and provide a space where you can unwind from the bustle of the city. Your room would be the living room area with a super comfortable over-sized sofa and ottoman. The room has a large flat screen television, WiFi, and is extremely cozy. There is also a curtain that you may choose to use for additional privacy. The apartment is warm and has minimal street noise for a quiet and comfortable night's sleep.
The apartment is located just 5 blocks from the F, Q, and R trains in Park Slope and is an easy 15 minute subway ride into Manhattan. The apartment is situated in the industrial part of Park Slope, however, is in a very safe location. We are five minute walk from a great selection of locally owned bars, unique and fabulous restaurants, and eclectic shopping. There are some great yoga studios within walking distance, a YMCA, and multiple gyms close by. Additionally, we are a ten-minute walk to Prospect Park.
Building and Parking:
The building is a ten unit brick apartment complex that is bug-free. We live on the fourth floor of a walk-up, so please note that there is no elevator and there are stairs. Although we do not recommend having a car in the city, street parking is not hard to find near the apartment. If you do choose to park on the street please pay attention to street cleaning closures.
We provide: sheets, pillows, blankets, towels and toiletries such as: shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors. We have a fully stocked kitchen and some space in the fridge reserved for your perishable items.
We use all natural cleaning products for those that might have allergies or be sensitive to harsh chemicals or smells.
Check Out/Check In:
Check out is at 12:00 pm (This is a suggested time to accommodate our guests. If you should require additional time we can stow your packed luggage.)
Check in is at 2:00 pm. (Again, this is a suggested to to accommodate incoming guests. Your check in can be earlier provided that there is no guest prior to your arrival.)
Our preference is to host people who have a history and reviews on Air B and B, however, if you are a first-timer we request that you have an updated biography and photo(s) and provide us with a short description of your trip to New York City.
We ask that you respect the space and our neighbors by maintaining quiet hours before 8:00 am and after 11:00 pm.
This is a no smoking building and apartment.
We just ask that you please help to keep our space tidy and beautiful.
We welcome you to New York, our home, and want to make sure that your stay here is fabulous!
Guests will have access to all communal spaces: Living Room, Kitchen, Bathroom. Additionally, guests have access to WiFi, storage space, Flat Screen TV, refrigerator, bathroom toiletries and occasionally Raymond cooks....so delicious food might be on hand!
Interaction with Guests
We love to get to know our guests and have made many wonderful friends through Air B and B, however, we want to respect your space and time and are sensitive to someone who might prefer to keep to themselves. With that said we have enjoyed many a meal in the neighborhood, Thanksgiving Day celebrations, wine/beer/tea at our Magic Kitchen Table, and great conversations with all of our wonderful guests.
Our neighborhood is full of independently owned fantastic restaurants and bars located on 5th and 7th Avenue. We are also about a 10 minute walk from the beautiful Prospect Park.
Although we are really chill and flexible, we ask guests to respect the space and our neighbors by maintaining quiet hours before 8:00 am and after 11:00 pm and to please help keep our space tidy and beautiful. We prefer to also have a shoes off policy. We love to have guests and want your stay to be comfortable and for you to feel welcome!
Raymond and Heather are perfect hosts who go out of their ways to make sure everything is good. They're friendly and fun, but always respect their guest's privacy and independence. It's a lovely apartment; spotlessly clean and always nice and warm. A lovely kitchen too. Gowanus is a good neighbourhood and super convenient for the rest of NYC - great subway connections, and the 9th street subway is only six or seven minutes from the apartment. I had a lovely time and hope to come back.
100% positive, both Raymond and Heather very nice persons, they were allways concerned about me. The house is very confortable, clean and warm. The coach\bed is ok. The location is a few blocks from the subway station. The neighborhood is safty, i came back many times in the nigth without any problem. So obiously i recomend them!
Raymond and Heather are awesome people. Even if we just had a little time to meet, we shared a lot in unfortunately little few time.
We feel verycomfortable in the room, never had the impression of embarassing.
The location is nice too, close of a metro.
So I really enjoyed my 4 days in New York and hope to come back soon
Heather and Raymond are the best hosts you can meet.
I stayed in their house for almost one month and I felt right at home.
They are respectful people, they offer to help you if you need something and are great people to spend time with at home.
Raymond invited me to have dinner with him and his friends and his siblings many times. Also his friends and siblings are very nice, welcoming and so funny!!!
Raymond invited me to spend Thanksgiving Day with him and his siblings, like I was a part of his family. I had such an amazing day with them!!!
I saw Heather less times than Raymond, but when she was at home, she always has a good word for you and is so sweet and kind.
In addition, they had a lot of patience with my low level of English.
The rent room is a living room, but it is secluded, so you can have privacy. The house is very nice, clean and orderly.
The neighbourhood is nice and safe, I often came back at home the late night without fear. The subway is a few minutes walking distance and it only takes 20 minutes to get to Manhattan.
If you want a wonderful experience in NYC, you have to go to R&H house!!!
Heather and Raymond were wonderful from the start. I stayed with them for one month during a medical student rotation in Manhattan. Their communication was prompt and clear, they accommodated my strange flight times and made me feel at home even before my arrival. The location is convenient to the subway system and in a safe neighbourhood. I often came and went during the dark hours and never worried about my safety.
During my time with Raymond and Heather, I felt more like I was living amongst friends, then a stranger on a couch. For girls that may worry about privacy, this was never a concern. My space was respected, but often we would gather around the kitchen table to catch up and share a laugh. I truly felt so comfortable with Raymond and Heather…they are wonderfully positive people, who open up their lives to their guests. I would definitely stay here again and truly hope to reconnect with them in the future. If you are looking for a perfect NYC experience.
The room is pretty much as advertised. The location is great. A fairly quiet neighborhood with good eat and drink opportunities and a beautiful park nearby. Had a nice run there on the morning of my departure. Getting to Manhattan was very quick and easy with a safe under 10 minutes walk to the subway. Last but not least: A great host! Although Raymond was out of town he still offered advice over email. Heather was very nice and I have fond memories of our late dinner out and great conversations at the kitchen table.
I had a real great time at Raymond and Heather's place (stayed 10 days in NYC), and I warmly recommend their apartment well located in Brooklyn.
We are two classically trained opera singers who moved to New York to pursue our dreams of singing and acting. We love all kinds of music, theater, great food (Raymond happens to be an incredible cook!), great wine, laughing, and having a blast. We love to meet new people and hear about your stories and would be thrilled to host you in our space and provide you with our best suggestions for having a great time in New York City!
