Description

The space

Space:
Our place is a two bedroom urban oasis with a large living room, kitchen, and bathroom area just minutes from the subway. You will be sharing the space with two friendly and fun performers. We boast a calm, quiet, and peaceful place with great energy. We like to keep our apartment clean, clutter free, and provide a space where you can unwind from the bustle of the city. Your room would be the living room area with a super comfortable over-sized sofa and ottoman. The room has WiFi and is extremely cozy. There is also a curtain that you may choose to use for additional privacy. The apartment is warm and has minimal street noise for a quiet and comfortable night's sleep.

Location:
The apartment is located just 5 blocks from the F, Q, and R trains in South Park Slope and is an easy 15 minute subway ride into lower Manhattan and a 35 min subway ride into Midtown. The apartment is situated in the industrial part of South Park Slope, however, is in a very safe location. We are five minute walk from a great selection of locally owned bars, unique and fabulous restaurants, and eclectic shopping. There are some great yoga studios within walking distance, a YMCA, and multiple gyms close by. Additionally, we are a ten-minute walk to Prospect Park.

Building and Parking:
The building is a ten unit brick apartment complex that is bug-free. We live on the fourth floor of a walk-up, so please note that there is no elevator and there are stairs. Although we do not recommend having a car in the city, street parking is not hard to find near the apartment. If you do choose to park on the street please pay attention to street cleaning closures.

Amenities:
We provide: sheets, pillows, blankets, towels and toiletries such as: shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors. We have a fully stocked kitchen and some space in the fridge reserved for your perishable items.

Note:
We use all natural cleaning products for those that might have allergies or be sensitive to harsh chemicals or smells.

Check Out/Check In:
Check out is at 12:00 pm (This is a suggested time to accommodate our guests. If you should require additional time we can stow your packed luggage.)
Check in is at 2:00 pm. (Again, this is a suggested to to accommodate incoming guests. Your check in can be earlier provided that there is no guest prior to your arrival.)

Requests:
Our preference is to host people who have a history and reviews on Air B and B, however, if you are a first-timer we request that you have an updated biography and photo(s) and provide us with a short description of your trip to New York City.

House Rules:
We ask that you respect the space and our neighbors by maintaining quiet hours before 8:00 am and after 11:00 pm.
This is a no smoking building and apartment.
We just ask that you please help to keep our space tidy and beautiful.

Welcome!:
We welcome you to New York, our home, and want to make sure that your stay here is fabulous!

Guest access

Guests will have access to all communal spaces: Living Room, Kitchen, Bathroom. Additionally, guests have access to WiFi, storage space, refrigerator, bathroom toiletries and occasionally Raymond delicious food might be on hand!

Interaction with guests

We love to get to know our guests and have made many wonderful friends through Air B and B, however, we want to respect your space and time and are sensitive to someone who might prefer to keep to themselves. With that said we have enjoyed many a meal in the neighborhood, Thanksgiving Day celebrations, wine/beer/tea at our Magic Kitchen Table, and great conversations with all of our wonderful guests.

The neighborhood

We live in an up and coming neighborhood that is currently industrial, however it is very safe and full of of independently owned restaurants and bars located on 5th and 7th Avenue within a 5 to 10 min walk. We are also about a 15 min walk from the beautiful Prospect Park.

Getting around

We are conveniently located near the F, G, and R lines.

Other things to note

As a courtesy, we ask guests to arrive for check-in at our apartment prior to 10:00 pm as both of us have daytime jobs.

Raymond and Heather were super sweet, friendly, and supportive hosts! I was in town alone for meetings and while they were not in the apartment fairly often (when I was there late evenings to sleep and most mornings until 11am-ish) so I felt I had ample space and privacy etc. to work/use the apartment whatever, they were lovely to chat with and we had many fun conversations! They made great inexpensive food recommendations and provided coffee/tea and snacks! Location was good, easy to walk to park slope spots to eat, commute into downtown about 30 mins, but not a bustling immediate area. Wonderful people.

Favorite. I had never stayed in a common space before (I'm kinda spoiled); I was pleasantly surprised. I felt this room was my own. I felt safe and comfortable. I felt at home. I wish Raymond and Heather were my roomies everyday.

BELIEVE THE HYPE. Seriously. I thought all the reviews had to be over the top, but Raymond and Heather are the consummate hosts. (Heather made sure I had proper weather gear for the storm- which was super sweet- if I weren't from snow country it would have been absolutely put to use) and Raymond- omg, I MUST get that recipe for that pasta dish. These guys are totally worth the steps ;)! Would absolutely stay with them again.

I had such a wonderful time staying here! Would recommend to anyone. Raymond is AWESOME! Could not have asked for a more gracious and genuine host. I did not get to meet Heather in person, she was away while I was there, but she sent me a lovely message welcoming me! It was my first time in New York, and Raymond was so helpful in giving me directions to the place, explaining the subway, and was extremely welcoming upon my arrival. I felt right at home my entire trip :) The room was wonderful, as was the rest of the apartment. Beautifully kept, and very comfortable. 10/10!

Raymond and Heather are incredibly nice people, they made me feel like an old friend! The apartment had everything I needed, and the location is good. It's close to 3 subway lines which makes it easy to travel around the city.

We are two classically trained opera singers who moved to New York to pursue our dreams of singing and acting. We love all kinds of music, theater, great food (Raymond happens to be an incredible cook!), great wine, laughing, and having a blast.
