About this listing
We would love to host you in our lovely and affordable space.
Our place is a two bedroom urban oasis with a large living room, kitchen, and bathroom area just minutes from the subway. You will be sharing the space with two friendly and fun performers. We boast a calm, quiet, and peaceful place with great energy. We like to keep our apartment clean, clutter free, and provide a space where you can unwind from the bustle of the city. Your room would be the living room area with a super comfortable over-sized sofa and ottoman. The room has a large flat screen television, WiFi, and is extremely cozy. There is also a curtain that you may choose to use for additional privacy. The apartment is warm and has minimal street noise for a quiet and comfortable night's sleep.
The apartment is located just 5 blocks from the F, Q, and R trains in Park Slope and is an easy 15 minute subway ride into Manhattan. The apartment is situated in the industrial part of Park Slope, however, is in a very safe location. We are five minute walk from a great selection of locally owned bars, unique and fabulous restaurants, and eclectic shopping. There are some great yoga studios within walking distance, a YMCA, and multiple gyms close by. Additionally, we are a ten-minute walk to Prospect Park.
Building and Parking:
The building is a ten unit brick apartment complex that is bug-free. We live on the fourth floor of a walk-up, so please note that there is no elevator and there are stairs. Although we do not recommend having a car in the city, street parking is not hard to find near the apartment. If you do choose to park on the street please pay attention to street cleaning closures.
We provide: sheets, pillows, blankets, towels and toiletries such as: shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors. We have a fully stocked kitchen and some space in the fridge reserved for your perishable items.
We use all natural cleaning products for those that might have allergies or be sensitive to harsh chemicals or smells.
Check Out/Check In:
Check out is at 12:00 pm (This is a suggested time to accommodate our guests. If you should require additional time we can stow your packed luggage.)
Check in is at 2:00 pm. (Again, this is a suggested to to accommodate incoming guests. Your check in can be earlier provided that there is no guest prior to your arrival.)
Our preference is to host people who have a history and reviews on Air B and B, however, if you are a first-timer we request that you have an updated biography and photo(s) and provide us with a short description of your trip to New York City.
We ask that you respect the space and our neighbors by maintaining quiet hours before 8:00 am and after 11:00 pm.
This is a no smoking building and apartment.
We just ask that you please help to keep our space tidy and beautiful.
We welcome you to New York, our home, and want to make sure that your stay here is fabulous!
Guests will have access to all communal spaces: Living Room, Kitchen, Bathroom. Additionally, guests have access to WiFi, storage space, Flat Screen TV, refrigerator, bathroom toiletries and occasionally Raymond cooks....so delicious food might be on hand!
Interaction with Guests
We love to get to know our guests and have made many wonderful friends through Air B and B, however, we want to respect your space and time and are sensitive to someone who might prefer to keep to themselves. With that said we have enjoyed many a meal in the neighborhood, Thanksgiving Day celebrations, wine/beer/tea at our Magic Kitchen Table, and great conversations with all of our wonderful guests.
Our neighborhood is full of independently owned fantastic restaurants and bars located on 5th and 7th Avenue. We are also about a 10 minute walk from the beautiful Prospect Park.
We are conveniently located near the F, G, and R lines.
Other Things to Note
As a courtesy, we ask guests to arrive at our apartment prior to 10:00 pm as both of us have daytime jobs.
Although we are really chill and flexible, we ask guests to respect the space and our neighbors by maintaining quiet hours before 8:00 am and after 11:00 pm and to please help keep our space tidy and beautiful. We prefer to also have a shoes off policy. We love to have guests and want your stay to be comfortable and for you to feel welcome!
Right from the first time I contacted Heather and Raymond, I was met with an enthusiastic response about my trip. Every enquiry was answered quickly, and I felt very confident in booking my stay with them. I was not disappointed. I was comfortable, and felt welcome.
I used the kitchen when I wanted, everything I needed was available.
Bonus. It was still Christmas in July on the 2nd landing of the building.
The neighbourhood friendly and I felt safe. It is close to subway I easily got to my workshop every morning.
I was not able to meet Raymond. Both Heather and Raymond were having a busy work period while I stayed there. But Heather made time to chat and share some ice cream.
I recommend staying with them.
Throughout my NYC trip, I looked forward to coming back to a home where I could truly be myself and unwind. Raymond and Heather are generous people who are great to talk to and genuinely want to make your experience warm and comfortable! I felt like I was amongst old friends. I felt completely at ease. Throughout my stay, I felt that my personal space and quiet time was always respected.
The neighbourhood is quiet and safe, and a reasonable distance from Manhattan if you're into the Broadway theatre scene. (If theatre is your thing, talk to Heather, who has fantastic recommendations!) This area is a refreshing wind-down from the bustling of Times Square.
10/10 will recommend, and will come back again!!
My whole short experience was amazing. I feel spoiled now for the time I book. Raymond was very kind, informative, and genuinely wanted to make sure you were at home. I only saw him when I checked because I was only there for just under two days. We had a good conversation and gave me the complete tour. This was way above and beyond what I had expected when I booked.
Heather is a very enthusiastic host, who loves arts, Brooklyn, exchanges... and great food! She'll give you all the information required to get the best from Park Slope.
The apartment is exactly as described: an urban oasis, so cosy and warm. From there, it is easy to reach Manhattan or Cosney island.
I only regret I was not able to stay longer and meet Raymond too!
My personal advice: although the subway is only two blocks away, do not hesitate to walk to the Atlantic Barklay Center and rent city bikes to visit Brooklyn!
Heather is the sweetest, most loving and generous person.
I was stuck in the traffic and came in very late at night but she was unbelievably nice about it. She always tried to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I honestly wouldn't have felt more at home if I stayed at a friend's place.
The apartment is nice and clean, located well to go out to the city.
Raymond and Heather are awesome! My flight kept getting delayed so I got in at 3am, but they were so cool about it. The apartment is located in a safe and charming neighborhood and is easy to get anywhere in the city. Raymond and Heather were very accommodating, friendly, and generous, always making sure that I had everything I needed. I felt at ease at their place, and I especially was happy to get to know these two wonderful creative people who are determined to chase their dreams in a big city. I would love to come back to hear more Raymond's funny jokes and Heather's cool adventures :-).
My stay with Raymond & Heather was amazing. They are the friendliest, warmest, and most fun people to be with. The experience was as if I lived in NY and had friends there, which is really the best way to get to know a city and have a great time. I would recommend it to everyone! In the four days I stayed with them I befriended them, and I would definitely stay with them again when I visit NY (and I sure hope to soon!).
Some practical issues I want to mention too, because I know they matter when picking an airbnb place to stay: as a solo female traveler I felt safe in the neighborhood. Great location: subway station only 5 min walk with trains running frequently and straight into Manhattan (F train) and also uptown Brooklyn (G train; takes you into Williamburg, which I recommend visiting!). The sofa bed is comfortable, and you really have the living room to yourself and with the curtain it is private enough. I had no troubles at all, but maybe bring a sleeping mask and earplugs if you have difficulty sleeping: you are in a big city which logically results in some noise. Everything you need is in the apartment; good wifi, nice shower, kitchen, and of course great company (by the way, they're not always at home due to work, so you do have the place to yourself every now and then). Contacting Raymond and Heather before I came and at the time of my arrival all went smoothly.
I am very happy I picked their place to stay!
