Summary: The owner, Tazi Taha, tried to take advantage of me after I had checked-out. I will never rent from him again. Early in my stay, I broke a small (2'x2') glass work-surface that rested on the gas range cooktop. I offered to pay for replacement (estimate US$ 10-20). Tazi said he could not find this glass and insisted I had to pay Euro 300-350 so he could replace the entire old range with a new, much better one (the same old range can be bought new for about Euro 113). At first, I thought his request must be a mis-translation. Or perhaps a joke. Then I realized he was seriously asking me (and airbnb) for a new stove - and one 3X more expensive than the original, to replace a $10 piece of glass. Naturally, I refused. Airbnb agreed with me and the claim was denied. Beyond this, the apartment was not as advertised - During my entire stay: 1. The washer did not work. 2. The clothes dryer had an electrical short whereby a person who touched a rear screw received an electrical shock. 3. The shower head in the tiny 2'x5' shower sprayed only on the shower door, above the head of the bather. 4. The TV control did not work to turn the TV on or off. On the day I left, we discovered the battery was missing. 5. Both kitchen sink drains were stopped up and would not drain, making it very difficult or impossible to wash dishes. Hence, I left a few dirty dishes in the sink. 6. The wall heater/AC does not have a heat pump meaning there is no heat in the living and kitchen area. The only heat is from the small electric heaters in the bedrooms. 7. This is not a "luxury" apartment as Tazi advertised. All of the furniture and furnishings are the cheapest possible. Picture IKEA's least expensive furniture. Kitchen appliances are tiny and old. 8. You left no instructions on how to properly use or care for the glass work-surface on the stove, which later broke. 9. Tazi left no instructions for proper use of any of the other kitchen appliances or W/D. And all were unplugged or turned off when I arrived. Tazi never offered to write off the broken glass in exchange for the W/D that did not work, and the other problems. Insteady, he insisted on a new range. As a small matter, I left three days early because I was sick during the entire stay. So he was able to re-rent the apartment for those three days if he chose. Finally, I personally handed the maid US$20 when I arrived, to thank her for waiting for my late plane. And another US$10 on the table when I left. This is over and above the US$29 'cleaning fee' Tazi pays her for cleaning the entire apartment. According to Tazi, he will not be renting his apartment again. He ironically wrote me, - "airbnb is...
It was a very pleasant accommodation that was provided. The description as indicated in the AirBNB profile is true and honest. He always responded to our e mails especially before the date of arrival. So every arrangement was made clear. Tazi picked us up at the airport with a very reasonable charge. He made sure that my family and our luggage will fit in his car. Since we are four, he came with his another friend's car to accomodate us and luggage. He acquainted us with the things in his property, what we have to do with regards to the security in Morocco, money exchange and public transport. The rate and the description of the property really fit. The 2 bedrooms and the dining- living room area are suited for a family of four. The surrounding area of the property is safe as well as the entrance to the unit. The elevator is also very convenient. I will stay in this property again and recommend to friends who will visit CasaBlanca. Tazi brought us around the area of the property to know where the banks are, money exchange, and to a store to buy our bottled water. Then he dropped us off to a good restaurant for dinner before he left us on our own. Tazi is a very commendable. I also thank his friend Iman who used her car to assist Tazi. They really did a good job tomake us feel safe. Thank you.
The property is as described, with all the amenities needed for a short term or long term stay. Quiet, residential area in the heart of the city with a tram stop a minute away. For us, Tazi's apartment was perfect. Though, the bathroom is a bit small, the fact there is heating in the rooms was huge for us, as it was really cold. Convenient to all the sights, easy to get ,to and from, the airport and train station. its 250 Dh by taxi ( which is the standard rate) to get to Tazi's place from airport by taxi. We used the tram to get to Casa Voyageurs. A couple of stops away is Place Nation Unies and Marche Central, perfect for people watching. Tazi was great with directions and helped us settle in. If we ever come to Casablanca again, we would pick his place again.
We stayed for 9 days at Tazi's appartement and everything was perfect! The house was very clean and spacious and most important it was in a very safe neighborhood. Also the location in casablanca is the best you can get on airbnb everything was around the corner stores, restaurant, tram etc its really centrally located. Tazi himself was very helpfull with everything, i would recommend this place to everyone who has to be in casablanca for business or vacation.
I spent four nights with a friend in Tazi's flat whose location is great (30-second walk from the Les Hôpitaux tram station). I felt really comfortable in this fully furnished apartment and secure area. Tazi, thank you so much for being an extremely kind and accommodating host, very much appreciated. See you next time!
