The location of Selim’s apartment is just great – 2 minutes away from Istiklal and very close to Galata tower with its beautiful neighbourhood (awesome shops and cafés). The place is clean, our room was nicely prepared when we arrived. For anyone super sensitive about cigarette smoke that might be a problem but definitely not in the rooms. Selim and his friends are super nice, it’s the perfect place to go if you’re looking to meet people quickly. Although I was with a friend, I would definitely say that Selim’s apartment is a great place to stay if you’re a girl travelling alone as well.
The Location of the flat is perfect, room was clean and enought space for 3 people! Selim is really a nice host, who cooked for us turkish specialities. thank's Selim we enjoyed our stay in Istanbul !!!!
Decent place and great location. We stayed here and went to Taksim Square quite often. It's a couple minutes walk to the metro but it's convenient.
Selim really is the nicest guy in Istanbul :) as we read about him before we arrived here. The location of the room is perfect. As Istanbul is a intense city, coming and going in the appartement was also intense. Actually at the time we stayed there it was over crowded but Selim does his best... so for the price it is acceptable. Bruno
selim is a nice person, the room was very clean, comfortable and warm. perfect position of the house, near the airport bus station and shops and restaurants. The house was just a bit crowd but the people were very friendly.
I stayed at Selim's place for 5 nights and 4 days during winter. It was really well located, really close to istiklal street, the havas airport bus station, galata tower and all the shops and cafes that came with it. Selim met us at the house and was very warm and welcoming. When we came it was night time and we were very hungry and he was super helpful in finding us a restaurant that was cheap and good food. The house is really comfortable, we loved coming back to the apartment after our long cold days to a really good hot shower, and warm and comfy bed. The internet and tv also work really great. Everything was just great.
Cok tesekkur ederiz selim :)
We stayed 6 nights at Selim's apartment and we had a great time. Selim is a wonderful host, a kind and jolly person - very humorous. What a pity for all who do not speak turkish! The location is really great - you can reach the hotspots easily! At the same time you feel safe and cosy in the quiet neighbourhood. Our room was very nice, the whole apartment looked exactly as in the pictures. We loved the modern and tasteful furniture and spent our evenings sitting and chatting together in the livingroom.
Istanbul is fantastic and at Selim's you will have a good time for sure.
Thank you so much Selim, for your hospitality and for the nice conversations we had.
We'll be back ;)
Selim is the most nicest guy in Istanbul. Great host he know´s everything about Istanbul. Place is super clean and comfortable. Great location also helps you to find the best restaurants and clubs. Place is quiet and you will enjouy Selims´s company i can guarantee that !! So the place is really value for your money! Definitely will stay there again when i go to Istanbul. And i really have to go there soon!! Thanks Selim one more time :)
Selim has a great apartment. The room was comfortable. But the bathroom was even better. Everything was clean and spacious Selim was a great host, who introduced us to the Turkish cuisine. We felt very safe during our stay.
Needed an affordable place for a very short stay in Istanbul at the end of my trip. Overall, it was OK but not great.
PROS: Excellent location and within 5-10 minutes of Istikal street, and down the street (Asmali Mescit) there are a lot of bars/patios. It’s also close to Taksim Square and the metro is nearby. Room was great – it looked like it was just renovated with new moldings and new furniture. Selim arranged a taxi to the airport at 3am, as the metro or shuttle buses don’t run at that time. For a shared bathroom, it was quite clean and well maintained.
CONS: I notified Selim of our arrival time, and although he was at home, we were waiting for about 30 minutes for him to let us in. since I didn’t have a mobile network, I had to go to Starbucks to use their wifi to email him. The apartment itself smelt like smoke (thankfully, our room didn’t ) After spending time in Istanbul I can see that this is probably normal, but as someone from North America, I wasn’t used to it. Our room was close to the TV area, and people had guests over, so we could hear them from our room. I was so tired that I was able to sleep over the noise, but this might bother other people. Also, the noise from the street could get loud too, but with a good pair of ear plugs you can probably drown it out.
Other: Some of the nearby streets are quite dark and sketchy, so just be careful what route you take back to the apartment if you’re out at night.
