Touring musician's studio apartment in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood.
While I am a musician by trade, I like to design and create things. As you can see, my apartment is full of pieces that I've made from scratch or repurposed - old doors, plumbing pipe, milk crates, whatever else I can find that catches my eye! While most studio apartments in Chicago are tiny, this one is spacious with room for 2 in the full-size bed and one on the sofa if necessary. There is also a separate kitchen, dining room, bathroom with shower and tub, closet, and coin laundry downstairs.
This apartment is in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood, on the near northwest side of the city. You have easy access to the Blue Line at Logan Square (to O'Hare, downtown, Wicker Park, etc.), and the Fullerton bus (east to Lincoln Park and the lakefront). The neighborhood is full of the best restaurants and bars in the city. Some of my favorites are Scofflaw (recently named the Best Bar in Chicago), Tula, Wasabi, The Boiler Room, and Revolution Brewing. There is also plenty of live music nearby at places like Cole's Bar and The Whistler. For your groceries, The Dill Pickle Food Co-Op is close-by, and Cermak Produce and Tony's are within walking distance.
Parking is safe, free, and relatively easy on nearby streets, and the area is extremely bike-friendly.
I am a professional musician and educator in Chicago, originally from Indiana. Other than playing music, I like to stay active, eat well, and hang out with my dog, Moose.
I ask that you treat my house with respect. Please take care not to damage any of my furniture or belongings, and clean up any messes you make. As long as the apartment looks as good when you leave as it did when you arrived, I will be happy!
No smoking inside the apartment - there is a back deck if you'd like to smoke.
The apartment was great everything went just as described. Wonderful part of town.
Unfortunately, I can't speak to the space as I ended up, with very little notice, not staying there. However, what I can attest to is that Charles is a very communicative, welcoming and flexible host. He was completely accessible, very organized and even checked in with me in the middle of my 'non-stay'. I'll be spending more time in Chicago in the future and look forward to being able to both meet Charles in person and see his lovely home.
The apartment had a great design and was a terrific place to stay. The photos and description on the listing page were accurate, and the apartment lived up to the praise given by previous visitors. Charles was easy to contact and made our stay very comfortable.
Charles was welcoming and easy to reach, and his apartment is very comfortable, eclectic, quiet, and a short walk to the subway.
The studio is spacious, with plenty of sunlight. Charles met us on a holiday trip when we got in an he was leaving, and was welcoming and accommodating during our brief meeting. The studio is a little farther into Logan Square than I expected, about 10 minutes' walk from the Logan Studio Blue Line stop, so we took Ubers on rainy days and walked on sunny days.
Met up easily with Charles and got the key. The neighborhood was very familiar, the Logan Square area. Close to the El, restaurants, etc. We did not quite understand that Charles' place is HIS place. He lives there and vacated for our stay. Previous AirBNB's we have stayed at were dedicated guest accommodations. It was a little strange for us to be in his place.
Charles ‘place was simply GREAT and exactly how we imagined it. The apartment is just as beautiful as it is shown on his pictures. It was clean and very close to the Blue Line for going to the city centre. Not to forget is the creative way he furnished his place which made us feel home right away. Charles himself is a very nice and communicative person and helped us with every question we had. This was the first airbnb experience for me and my friends, so I’m glad to say that we had a great time in Chicago and we would go back to Charles’ apartment anytime.

I am a professional musician living and working in Chicago, IL. I regularly travel the country for shows, in addition to teaching a few college courses. I love my tiny apartment, both cooking and being cooked for, my dog Moose, and music.
