Located on the pristine shores of Teal Lake offering abundant beauty, wildlife and outdoor activities - Electric motors only allowed, kayaks provided. Quiet, residential neighborhood, conveniently located for day trips in either direction - Picture Rocks in Munising or up to the Copper Country. 12 miles from Marquette, easy walk to local supermarket and public sand beach. About a mile to antique shopping, restaurants, bars and Iron Ore Heritage Trail for biking or hiking.

The space
Love of the 50's and modern design have influenced my 1950's ranch home. I like to share and inspire guests to visit my homeland of New Zealand by infusing kiwiana in the decor also.

Bookings made after 05/01/20, for visits June through October 2020 will have at least 24 hour period between last guest and your check in. As your host I personally take pride in doing a thorough job of cleaning taking extra care to sanitize frequently touched surfaces. Every guest is assured clean linens, towels and wash cloths for their stay.

08/20 Washer and dryer will be coming soon, installation date not secured yet so has not been added to amenities yet.

Guest access
This is a two level ranch with main level being guest space, lower level personal space. It's listed as entire house as the 3 airbnb options to choose from to describe it are apartment, house and secondary unit- House being the closest in accuracy. You will have comforts of entire upper floor with exception of one closed room and fireplace. Garage access for bikes or water toys etc, small to midsize vehicle possible. Full access to deck, backyard and dock in season. Off street parking for one vehicle only, please park in the driveway.

Other things to note
If you are not able to make the check in by 6:00pm please let me know, I like to be available to welcome you and answer any questions you may have.
Highway runs parallel to the Teal Lake, the house is some distance away but depending how the wind is blowing muffled highway noise can travel across the lake.
2 kayaks supplied to enjoy the lake. Adult large, adult extra large and adult medium small life jackets provided. Please let me know if you have additional needs.
As the snow flies some shoveling of path may be needed, shovel and salt supplied _ Please inquire if questions.
Directly in front of 2 steps leading to the house can get slippery when precipitation freezes, there is a hand rail. This can be avoided by parking in the garage - Sorry trucks or larger vehicles will not fit.
Help yourself to coffee, tea, herbs or condiments you may need to make a meal.

Location

Negaunee, Michigan, United States

Quiet residential neighborhood, walking distance to supermarket and public sand beach. Majority of pubs, restaurants and trails about a mile from the house. Of note also Negaunee is well known for it's antique shopping opportunities and pizza! Public boat launch down the road, again no gas motors allowed on Teal Lake tho'. 2 kayaks available to explore the lake but bring your own fishing poles if you plan to fish. Fisherman will find a variety of fish including small mouth bass, crappie, sucker, pumpkin seed sunfish, bream, bluegill, perch and walleye. Very nice, clean Laundromat about a mile away.

From N.Z. to the U.P., happy to be a Michigan kiwi! Have lived in Upper Peninsula for >25 years but was born and grew up in a small town in New Zealand. Like a lot of kiwi's moved across the ocean to Australia for a few years before settling in the states. Almost everyone who learns I am from New Zealand mentions that it is somewhere they have always wanted to visit. I incorporate touches of kiwiana in my home to help fuel and inspire that desire! It is such a beautiful place which I appreciate more and more the older I get. I'm so thankful for this platform to share my love of creating spaces and being able to do it in such a personal way with people from all walks of life. Have met some lovely, amazing people hosting. Try and get to the gym most days for a class if I am in town - Especially love yoga and all the numerous fusions, PiYo being my favorite. YMCA is about a mile from the house for anyone that may be interested in working out during their stay.

During your stay
Available as needed. Please text or call if you need anything. I do live in this house, when I have guests I am in a separate level with private entry (semi private in the winter if you choose to use the garage for entry) allowing for maximum privacy. I am rarely around during the day and do not use any of the outdoor spaces.
