I really couldn't recommend Dar Sienna more. The panoramic views from the roof terrace are truly superb - especially during the prayer call and at breakfast time (a lovely spread with coffees, cakes and tagine-cooked eggs). Host Ahmed was kind, thoughtful and has an excellent sense of humour - offering helpful and detailed advice on where to go and how to get there, particularly useful on our first night when everything seemed quite daunting.
The room was clean and comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Very slight drain smell coming from the showers but this is ever present in Fes Medina so can't complain.
Finally, the location is completely central - great for the main streets and tanneries, and to get up to the ruins that overlook the town.
Cheers Sonhild, Ahmed and Said, we have Dar Sienna to thank for our great stay in Fes and we hope to return very soon!
superfijne plek midden in de Medina. Echt origineel marokkaans huis heel sfeervol ingericht.
Dar Sienna has the best rooftop terrace of the medina. Quite and peaceful place, friendly staff, good and nice communication with the owner Sonhild. Located in the heart of the medina, Moullay Idriss is your neighbour.
Days before arriving, Sonhild has already sent us a very useful and detailed package of practical information about visiting Fez. We were picke up by Ahmed at one of the gates of the Medina, and the walk to Dar Sienna was like a dream, deeply stimulating with a profusion of sounds, smells, and sights. Breakfasts on the terrace were always served with a smile. It was a pleasure to be able to live in this dream during the entirety of stay, while having the calm walls of our room to return to, when we needed recharging. Amazing location close to everything. Highly recommended.
Dar Sienna was a wonderful part of our Moroccan experience.
In short, we felt at home with nice room, access to kitchen and common space. Many thanks to Saba, Ahmed and Sonhild for the great time. They welcomed us as friends, instead of as tourists and we can't imagine ever staying at another place when, Inshal'Allah, we revisit Fez!
The Dar is clean, beautiful and calm. Has the best terrace (IMHO) that you can wish for in a medina. The location is perfect if you want to stay in the heart of Fez El Bali and its you first time there. Close to where the two main streets cross, it was easy to come back to even for first-timers, who get fascinatingly lost in the logrus of streets. Of course not without the invaluable directions from Ahmed, the house manager. He met us at the station and took us to the place ensuring we remember landmarks on the way. Ahmed helped us plan everything during our stay there and made sure we have perfect time and visit as much as possible in the short time we had there.
The housekeeper Saba is very kind and makes wonderful breakfasts. She showed my girlfriend how the mint tea is prepared, so we could even make some on our own and enjoy it under the night sky on the terrace.
Sonhild was not there, but she was very polite to answer all messages within a day and welcome us from distance. She has seemingly put great effort to renovate the place in ballance between the traditional Fez and modernisation (apart from electricity, flowing hot water, wifi, fridge and stove the Dar is just like out of a fairy tale). Sonhild also sent us invaluable information about Fez and Morocco so we could see bit beyond the initially confusing surface.
Hello Asen Thank you for your enthusiastic review. Clearly you both felt the magic and experienced the true spirit of Fez! On behalf of my lovely staff I would like to thank you for having been such fabulous guests.

Fez ancient medina
Staying at Dar Sienna was really nice. Expecially the room we had was perfect. You have a great view over the old medina and an easy accsess to the rooftop terrace. The Housemanager Ahmed is a really good guy and very helpful. Also the contact to Sonhild, wich was back in England when we were in Fes was really good.
Hello Alexander I am absolutely delighted that you appreciated the Chambre Celeste, our fabulous rooftop room with its magical views over the medina. And of course the wonderful Ahmed, who is a fountain of information and knowledge. I am absolutely delighted that you appreciated the Cultural Information I send all our guests beforehand. Fez medina is soooo different from anything one might have experienced before, which is why I have prepared the Cultural Information. I regularly update it, as I make new discoveries and learn new things... this happens all the time! I love communicating with you beforehand and making sure that you are well prepared!

He was brilliant and the breakfast, rooms and whole experience of our stay was fantastic! Fully recommend Dar Sienna and it's wonderful hosts.
