Check In
  • Our stay in Dar Sienna was a very pleasant one. Fez is amazing: like a walk into the world of a history book. Our room was very nice and clean - just like on the pictures. The bathroom in not in the room - it is on the same floor and it is basically private but not ensuite. It wasn't a problem for us but worth mentioning. The rooftop is amazing as are the breakfasts provided by Sabah. Ahmed the manager helped a lot, provided us maps and tips how to explore the maze like city of Fez. Sonhild, the owner was also there and gave us some advices - the mini-guide she sent to us after booking was also very useful and interesting. Without these we would have been lost. Dar Sienna is in the middle of the city in a small alley, perfect starting point to explore the city. If you prefer to be in the middle of the action and see the real life of the Medina this is the place for you :) Keep in mind that Fez is a very intense experience: its more of an adventure than relaxation, but an adventure that you will never forget.

  • Quel bon accueil!

  • The place is in a good location, but it is hidden from the main street and in an alleyway that has a god given smell of garbage. The place however, smells fine. It has a nice roof top that offers an amazing view of the the medina. Provides good breakfast and the housekeeper is really nice and helpful.

The bathroom and the bedroom are separated and it might be inconvenient to shower or go to washroom at night. Also, other guests can use your "private bathroom".

    Response from Sonhild:

Just to clarify; the bathroom for Seffarine Room is enormous and is therefore separate from the room. We have only 1 bedroom per floor, and each room has its own bathroom, for exclusive use of the room the bathroom belongs to.

  • Ahmed (email hidden). He was very helpful and tried very hard to be thorough with directions. The house was better than we expected. The view from the roof top was amazing! The breakfast was delicious! The only issue we had was with locating the house when we were on our own. Because the house is located in the heart of the souk it was very hard to find once we were on our own. We spent many hours lost as all the streets look the same to new comers. I would not recommend this place to directionally challenged folks that are unable to communicate in Moroccan, Arabic, or French. Otherwise the house was beautiful and service was superb!

    Response from Sonhild:

I am sorry that we are not allowed to have any signage in the street as Dar Sienna is within the holy area next to the Moulay Idriss Mosque. I do agree it would be very helpful, especially once the shops are closed!

  • My friend and I stayed in Dar Sienna for 3 nights, and absolutely LOVED the place! It is extremely clean, quiet, and well-decorated in Moroccan style. We especially loved the bathroom with a huge bathtub and always had hot water at any time of the day (rarely happens in many other places in Morocco!). The rooftop view is amazing! You will sit and eat a delicious Moroccan breakfast every morning on the rooftop overlooking the entire old Fes and the mountains surrounding the city. Most of all, the hotel manager, Ahmed, was extremely helpful and went above and beyond what we expected. He helped us by giving us a map, great tips on things to do and how not to get lost while in the confusing streets of Fes... he even helped us arrive to the train station. The staff at Dar Sienna is so friendly and kind, the dar is impeccably clean... I highly recommend Dar Sienna and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when I visit Fes again!

    Response from Sonhild:

It was a total pleasure having you to stay at Dar Sienna. It was clear right from the start that you were going to have a wonderful stay: a keen sense of discovery, an open mind, and also kindness and a willingness to really experience Moroccan culture first hand. I greatly hope to have the pleasure of meeting you personally on your next trip, insha'allah. Sonhild Grey: Owner Dar Sienna

  • Dar Sienna... the plan was to relax and at the same time to explore the Medina.... Well, no better place to do so than Dar Sienna!
We had some great lazy breakfast mornings on one of the terraces, just enjoying fresh breakfast, coffee, tea and great views of the medina, laying in the sunshine...
And when ready for some Medina exploring we could count on Ahmed to tell us what / when to see. Dar Sienna, our centre of the Medina.
Just a great short holiday (email hidden)!

  • Dar Sienna (email hidden), right in the medina, close to every thing you might want to see in this imperial atmosphere.
Sonhild has been super helpful by mail, giving us lots of info so we have a great stay. She was really caring for us. Thank you so much for that, lovely woman i wish we'll meet!
We've been greeted by Ahmed who has been the most welcoming man, super caring too, giving us some tips so we have the best time in Fèz. Telling us history about Fèz, life there etc.
Sabah was taking care of us too in the morning for this delicious breakfast on the roof top terrace. Probably the best smile to have in the morning.
The place is lovely, well decorated. We felt at home right away.
I highly recommanded Dar Sienna, for the place, for the lovely kind team.
We were sad the day we had to leave when Ahmed took us to our taxi, it was hard to say goodbye to Ahmed.
I hope i'll come back, that's for sure.
Thank you again Sonhild, Sabah & Ahmed.
    Lovely people.

I am an absolute Moroccophile! Welcome to Fez......I fell in love with Fez 10 years ago...Sunset, the call to prayer, and that was it. Favourite authors: Paul Bowles, Mohamed Choukri, Tahar Ben Jalloun.... Favourite movie: The Sheltering Sky and Hideous Kinky, both of course about Morocco. Favourite food, Moroccan, Italian and French. Restoring a house in the medina has been the result of an ongoing love affair with Fez, and here we are now, Dar Sienna. Welcome-Marhaban. Meeting guests is just the most perfect way to share my enthusiasm for and love of this magical city. My motto is: No regrets.
