Très bel endroit en plein coeur de la medina. Très propre, très bon accueil et le service et le petit-déjeuner sont parfaits ! Nous avons passés un très bon séjour à Fès.
My stay at Dar Sienna was wonderful. Sonhild went above and beyond in communicating with me before my arrival, and Ahmed and Said were extremely helpful in picking me up and getting me situated. The room was clean (and air conditioned! - a big perk in Fes in August). I would say the only downside to this wonderful riad is its location in the medina. While it's certainly a plus to be in the middle of a historic medina like Fes, I did have trouble finding the riad on my own on the second day (even with a map that Ahmed had given me, and even with the landmarks that Said had pointed out). In fact, I'm not sure how long I would have looked through the tiny alleys if one of Said's friends hadn't recognized me (a tall white guy like me stands out in Fes) and guided me to Dar Sienna. Otherwise, my stay was perfect.
We absolutely loved staying here. Located in the heart of the medina, in the midst of it all, it truly is an oasis of peace in the magical madness that is Fez. The house has everything one might need, and more. It feels authentic, yet with all the modernities we might need. We had no complaints whatsoever! Our favourites: the location and the roof terraces. The views really are stunning.
Ahmed and Said were of amazing help every day. We loved our Moroccan breakfast every morning. Ahmed became a friend very quickly, ready to help at any time. He definitely added to our experience. Sonhild was a lovely host, and provided us with tons of useful information.
100% would recommend. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Fez than here!
Tucked away in a small alley in probably one of the best locations in Fes, Dar Sienna is a hidden gem. The location of the riad is great because it is very close to the tanneries and also the main two souks (Tala'a Saghir and Tala'a Kabir). In fact, you walk for literally 30 seconds and you are there. The view from the rooftop balcony is truly breathtaking as you have a 360 panoramic view of the Medina and beyond. I should also mention that Dar Sienna is unique compared to other Riads we have been to in Morocco because at the same time that you get all the services of a riad like breakfast and helpful staff, you also have more privacy since th staff are only in the riad in the morning and sometimes in the evening. You also have full access to the kitchen and with fresh mint always in the fridge you can make tea whenever you want and enjoy it at the rooftop balcony.
The staff, Saeed, and the manager, Ahmed, are both very kind and nice. Ahmed was very helpful every time we had a question or needed help with something. He is a man you can trust. We were also in touch with the owner Sonhild through email and she was very helpful to make our arrival easy and our stay comfortable.
Keep in mind that since the riad is in the middle of the souks, you cannot access it by taxi. We arranged with Ahmed so Saeed met us at the last point of access for cars and took us to the riad from there. Since we had heavy luggages and the souks are very busy, Saeed had someone with a cart who carried our luggages for us to the riad for only 30 derham. The walk to the riad takes around 15 minutes. We had the same arrangement when we were leaving. Finally, it might be usefull to know that the bathroon and shower for the Saffron room, which is one of the three rooms in the riad we stayed in, is outside the room. Wr had no problem with that but it is something some people might care about.
We cannot think of a better place to stay in Fes and more helpful staff, so we would definitely recommend Dar Sienna.
We really had a wonderful time at the Riad in Fez!!
After arriving really late in the night Sonhild and Sahid picked us up to bring us straight to the riad. The Riad manager Ahmed welcomed us to explain everything in full detail. I can only recommend it as we were treated as family!
Wonderful riad in a perfect location, close enough and just far away enough from the blue gate to get a better taste of this magnificent city! The top floor does get a bit hot and the bathroom could use a tad more privacy, but it really didn't bother us at all. The terrace has one of the best views in the medina and Ahmed and Sayeed were great hosts!
