Family-friendly creekside retreat on 14 lush green acres of restored wildlife habitat. Stay with us while you attend a tree-climbing course next door at Tree Climbing Planet, or just need a quiet and peaceful place to stay near Oregon City or Canby.

The space
This 800-square-foot space is the daylight basement of our home, and includes:

•separate breakfast/family/TV room
•sunroom/dining area
•large private deck with expansive view overlooking Beaver Creek
•private entrance from deck

Please note this is not a complete apartment; it is a self-contained and completely private dedicated guest suite, but while we provide small appliances and a small breakfast area there is no kitchen.

Also, while there are beds for six people, more than four may find the space a little tight with the futon in the common area unfolded. The futon bed is available for guest counts of five or six only.

Guest access
Shared laundry and small home gym (treadmill, rowing machine, weight machine, TV screen, in out-building) are available for use.

All guests are invited to explore the property.

Other things to note
We provide mini refrigerator, microwave oven, egg cooker, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, dishwasher, and propane grill (on deck); also WIFI, flat-screen TV with Chromecast and DVD player. We are happy to stock the breakfast area to your specifications before or during your stay, at cost.

No TV service.

Mobile phone coverage is spotty (don't count on it, especially if your provider is not Verizon).

Please also note that if/when you are out we may access the shared laundry room via the hallway within the space. If you prefer that we don't, just let us know and we will happily procrastinate to respect your preference.

Our outdoor cat, Pete (head of ranch security), does not enter the house. Our dogs, Abby and Otto, do enter the house but not your space. (If you are an animal lover, search for '"a dog's love story" youtube' to see a video about their remarkable history.)

We strongly support Airbnb’s Nondiscrimination Policy.

When a COVID-19 vaccine is available and recommended by the US CDC, all guests must be vaccinated (unless medically exempt); we reserve the right to require proof.

A note on rates and cleaning fees: Our nightly base rates are set automatically and vary according to regional/seasonal supply and demand. For low-demand dates they may drop quite low. Our cleaning fee is a fixed cost per stay, which goes directly to our cleaners for their labor and supplies. We think this is the fairest price structure for everyone. (Building the cleaning fee into the nightly rate would effectively subsidize short stays at the expense of guests who stay longer.) We get that a cleaning fee that is high relative to the nightly rate may be off-putting, especially since Airbnb shows only the lowest available base rate until you enter your dates. But when this happens it means you are getting a great deal on the nightly rate! We regret that Airbnb displays only the lowest available nightly base rate, excluding cleaning fees and their own service fees, until you enter your specific dates. And we thank you for supporting our commitment to pay our cleaners a living wage.

Location

Oregon City, Oregon, United States

Oregon City is the historic oldest US city west of the Rockies and home of Willamette Falls, the largest by volume waterfall in the US, after Niagara. Our home is just outside the Portland metro area urban growth boundary, so it is in a quiet and peaceful rural region of small farms and forest, but a quick drive to PDX or the best of downtown Portland. 1hr 20min to Mount Hood's Timberline Lodge, 1hr 50min to Cannon Beach.

Tom and I love the Pacific Northwest. We have worked hard to restore our previous hobby llama farm to wildlife habitat, and are delighted to share it with anyone who appreciates it-- of whatever species. As empty-nesters we enjoy having families in our home, and we do our best to provide our guests a restful refuge there, as well as at our vacation homes on Lake Leland in Quilcene, Washington.
