If you want to be close to the best of what Sydney has to offer then Newtown is the place to be.
What we can offer you is; a medium sized comfortable room with a queen size bed in a 3 bedroom house in a quiet street in Newtown. You have your own bathroom with shower, toilet, spa bath and hairdryer. There is a shared living /dining area downstairs and an entertainment room with balcony upstairs.
The backyard provides a secluded environment. Our home reflects our love of travelling.
A self serve basic breakfast is included and free wifi. You also have use of the kitchen, refrigerator, and washing machine. Parking is available on the street.
What Newtown offers; good food at a reasonable price with extensive cuisines to choose from; small intimate wine bars; friendly local pubs; live music venues; great coffee spots and many vintage, second hand and designer shops. There is something for everyone.
We are 5 minutes from the nearest train station and it is ten minutes by train to see Sydney’s major attractions: Opera House, Circular Quay and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The nearest beach is Coogee or Bondi Beach, which is a 30-minute bus ride.
We are a 20 minute taxi from the airport (cost is about AUD$25).
We offer you a comfortable, stress free environment during your stay.
Guests have access to shared kitchen and entertainment and lounge dining room. The only area guests do not have access is the hosts bedroom and bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
Interaction with guests is at the discretion of the guests.
What we love about Newtown is that it is close to everywhere with good public transport. Great affordable restaurants with most BYO and plenty of cafes. It is different from most of the areas in Sydney and very liveable.
There are bus services from King Street to the city and Coogee beach. Train station is 5 minute walk.
Smoking is not allowed in the house however smoking is allowed in the backyard.
You will be provided with your own keys and password for the alarm system which is required to be activated when you are the last person out of the house.
Thanks Carol and Tom for making our stay in Sydney wonderful. Loved your home and the location was perfect too.

P & L
Carol and Tom were great hosts, giving us plenty of information on the area and other activities to do in sydney. Great people. Their place is lovely, with an airy room, large bathroom and great backyard area to sit and enjoy breakfast. Breakfast was delicious. It is also nice to know the profits are helping Carol's charity in Africa. Highly recommended.
Tom and Carol were the most fabulous hosts in the world. The first night we were there they made us dinner, shared a couple of bottles of wine, and we sat around and chatted. The same thing happened the evening that we had planned to take them out to eat as a thank you for their extreme generosity. Carol knew that we from the north would be far too exhausted to go out when we got back. The bed was fantastically comfortable, the bath was phenomenal, the neighborhood was so interesting that in the future we'll probably be more interested in spending time there than in Sydney. The neighborhood is in the process of being rehabilitated. Not all the houses, at least from the outside, look attractive, but that's what happens when a neighborhood is being revitalized. Carol actually went out and bought gluten-free bread when she learned I had an allergy. They couldn't have been more delightful, intelligent, and aware people to converse with. When you add that to the fact that their profits go to help people affected by AIDS in Uganda, it pretty much sums up the sort of people they are. I'll always be grateful for having known them, and would stay with them again at any time possible. In fact, if their place was available at a certain time, we might plan future trips to Sydney accordingly. If we could give them ten or twenty or one hundred stars rather than five, we certainly would.
Carol and Tom were amazing hosts and went out of their way to make us feel welcome in their house, while still giving us all the privacy we could hope for. The place is a 5min walk from the next bus stop so the city is only a short trip away. The room is quite small but comes with access to a nice living room, large private bathroom, and kitchen. We can strongly recommend to stay here!
I stayed at Carol and Tom's around a week. The accommodation was as said
on the web site, comfortable bed, private space, great shower, close to public transport, close to city and great hosts!
Tom and Carol went out of their way to point me in the right direction with what transport to take and sights to see while on my stay in Sydney.
By train I was in the city within 20mins at a cost of $2.50!
I would stay differently stay with these great hosts and location again when in
Sydney! Thanks Carol and Tom, Ruth
Newtown is boho, hip and happening. So were my hosts. Loved staying with them - Happy to bring me into their lives, yet also happy to give me the privacy when needed. The house is classic Newtown - a renovated terrace, full of souvenirs from their own travels. We got to compare notes about places we both had been over lovely red wine (thank you!), discussed geo politics, and shared ideas about which restaurants were the best in Newtown (there are so many:)) The room was just right - comfortable and quiet, my own bathroom and access to the kitchen and fridge, which was stocked with the guest in mind. The location was at the south end of Newtown, which is more happening, if possible, than other parts. I really enjoyed my time with them, and they represent for me the best of Air BnB hosts - familiar with Sydney, caring and sharing. Thanks guys, you made my stay so much more enjoyable.
Tom and I love to travel and as we now have the opportunity, we plan to spend 3 months a year overseas.
We are regular visitors to Africa as we work with a locally run AIDS clinic in Uganda called Kawempe Home Care and the proceeds from our airbnb go towards paying the school fees for children who have been affected by AIDS.
We enjoy good food and good wine and we like guests to feel at home.
