The Space

Private bath, Tranquil room with balcony over looking private garden, furnished queen bed with linens. Have laptop friendly connections to wifi, flat screen and sound ready for hook up to help with your work or watch a movie. Bike to borrow. Walk to downtown,
A 1895 Victorian Queen Anne with many woodwork details, slanted ceilings following the roof line. PRIVATE BATH with 6 ft 1905 claw footed tub. Hardwood floors. Bath in hall has tiled shower. Plants visit the garden window for winter then move to garden for summer delight.
A neighborhood that people nod to acknowledge your passing. A cafe one block away the locals have Stumptown coffee and read the paper. 4 blocks from the Willamette River Esplanade for long walks or bike rides along the river.
Close in the new pedestrian walkway across I-5 to OHSU Wellness center, where you can take the tram up the hill for a fantastic view of the city and Mt. Hood.
I love to show off my city with ideas for exploring. Do come and try out my space.
Minutes walk to OHSU for interviews, work, or patient visitation.

Guest Access

You are welcome as a guest of my home. Coffee and tea available all the time with self service hospitality corner, also with microwave for left over warm ups. If you have an inclination for cooking just ask... I have a full kitchen downstairs that would love to taste your fresh baked cookies.... just kidding... you can use the downstairs kitchen for more complicated cooking opportunities when the microwave just won't make it.
When family dinners are happening you are welcome to join. There is an iron with an Ironing board for those so inclined. Guest can sit on the front porch and talk with neighbors walking dogs or you can feed the chickens if you like. Take a run across the pedestrian bridge under the tram that takes you down to the water front.
There's a bike and lock for peddling around... just ask ahead to have it ready. Local downtown Street Trolly at base of OHSU pedestrian walk way for $1 ride through downtown to Northwest and Pearl neighborhoods in Portland. For $20 fee I can run a load of clothing through laundry. I offer $30 for pre-aranged pick up or drop off to airport.

Interaction with Guests

After initial check-in to answer any of your questions, and can share some ideas for eating and getting around in the may have as much privacy as you like. I am available for inquiries through text, phone and just a knock on the dinning room door.

You are invited to happenings at the house such as family dinners, celebrations and art events happening downstairs. Most guest enjoy the privacy that the layout of this house offers for guest. I have lived here for over 30 years with 4 grown children that are connected to happenings around the city. It is always a pleasure to chat about ideas of where to go.
Also as a member of the Mt Hood Ski Patrol I have some knowledge of the ski resorts. (Timberline offers year round skiing) I love traveling.... this is my way to travel and meet new people. Come by and check it out.

The Neighborhood

This is a Historic Neighborhood. Houses built around late 1800's intermixed with the random townhouse squeezed inbetween. Unusual to have such a warm neighborhood feeling and being so close to downtown. You can feel comfortable walking late at night or for an early run before getting started. There are always neighbors walking their dogs. I have chickens so locally I am known as "The chicken lady". Many employees of OHSU walking to work early morning and late evening. Beautiful views of the city and Willamette River from our street as well as from the OHSU Ariel Tram that is three blocks walk from my house.

Getting Around

Street car, buses, ariel tram to OHSU, Max train station 4 block away to open late next year. Very convenient to the downtown food cart exploration

Other Things to Note

Very close to both OHSU and PSU southern part of Downtown Portland. We have a bicycle you can use to explore PDX. Can show you some of the NW hospitality. We are a green establishment. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. We ask our guests to consider using fewer towels during their stay and not requesting a sheet change unless your stay is longer than a week.
