  • Our suite was the perfect weekend getaway for two! It had everything we were looking for in a relaxing weekend away: Privacy, easy in-and-out privileges, accessible outdoorsy activities, home amenities, and a peaceful atmosphere.

The room itself was very clean and spacious. We were connected to the laundry and fully stocked kitchen. It was nice to do some cooking and bring it into our kitchenette to eat privately. I cannot think of one thing that we could have needed out there that wasn't immediately accessible to us.

The property itself was very cool. We were able to spend some time in the sauna and fish for blue gill in the pond. There are seating areas all throughout, fire pits, and even a cute tower to climb if you like a little altitude to your nighttime stargazing.

We immediately felt welcome and at ease after meeting David & Kumud. They were quick to answer questions and didn't hesitate to physically show us around when we asked where things were located. I wasn't surprised since they were so responsive and thorough in our correspondences leading up to our stay! I found them to be very thoughtful (Down to asking what types of milks/creams we like with our coffee to stock the fridge!) and kind hosts; that kind of thing can make a big difference!

There's some (unobtrusive) construction going on at this property and we're excited to come back sometime to see what's new in the future. Highly recommended, great experience! You won't regret it :)

  • Our stay at White Lotus with David and Kumuk was pretty awesome! They are very friendly, hospitable and have a great secluded spot to get away from it all and relax. They also have a very helpful binder arranged in the room to let you know the attractions around the area as well as personally recomended restaurants. The room was great and we had everything we needed between our kitchen with our room and the larger, shared kitchen. They also had a grill right outside our room which came in handy to save some money by staying in and making dinner a few nights. As far as the location I would recommend it if you are looking to spend a day up on Skyline Drive and another day touring wineries in the area. It was only about a 20 minute drive to Skyline Drive and there are plenty of beautiful wineries to visit in close proximity. I would recommend this spot to anyone who wants to "get off the grid" so to speak.

  • It is very clear that David and Kumud have put a lot of time and effort into a beautiful, thoughtful, and comfortable atmosphere for their guests. Everything was as it is advertised in their photos, and i spent hours just exploring the grounds and its features. Beyond this, it was apparent that David and Kumud care about their guests; from the breakfast bars, chocolate, and coffee, to the fact that David took me on a hike with him, I felt very at home. I will absolutely be here again (hopefully after convincing my friends to rent out the other rooms at the same time) the next time I want to hike in the Shenandoah National Park (a short drive away) and just get away from the city.

  • We hhad a great stay here. The part we stayed in was partly under construction, but the suite was not! The suite was big and nice, good bed, shower and coffee. The shared kitchen is big so if you wamt you can cook. Restaurant is about 15 minites away. We didn't see the rest of the property (sauna etc) but it must be nice. The owners are very friendly too, gave good tips about hiking (we did the day after). Would stay there again if I'm in the area.

  • The White Lotus Eco Spa Retreat was everything we expected and more! The setting was not just a retreat, it was a haven. Two nights is just not enough to enjoy all the relaxing tranquil setting. The hosts David and Kumud are delightful and only wish we could of setup a yoga session during our stay. We had a big group and were able to rent all the rooms which everyone was beautiful and very comfortable. We used the gourmet kitchen which was more adequate and the grills outside each room were awesome. I would recommend White Lotus Eco Spa Retreat and am looking forward to another escape soon! Suite C was our favorite suite - especially because my husband and I did most of the cooking (which we love) for the group and it is most convenient and the covered grill area was perfect with a sitting area to "watch" the grill without getting wet during a welcomed shower.

  • We loved staying at the White Lotus Eco Spa!! Our room was lovely. Suite C has a private kitchen, with a door that opens to the wash room, then the larger shared beautiful kitchen in the Green Barn!! I love how they recycle, compost, use LED lights, organic teas, sugar, and coffee. David and Kumud were sooo helpful. They have done a great job designing the space. I look forward to returning when the barn is finished.

We had lots of rain on our stay, but we had fun birding around the grounds and neighborhood. Great location near Shenandoah NP! Check out the Noon Whistle Pottery shop in Stanardsville while you're there!

  • We had high expectations before our arrival but our room was even better than the photographs. (We were even welcomed with soft relaxing music.) The furnishings were elegant and comfortable, the room had everything we could have wanted in it and more. The accommodations that were included in the price but were outside of the room, were amazing too. We took full advantage of the communal kitchen as well as the sauna. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. We had a delightful stay.

About
David Clark, a native of central Virginia, and architect of Green Barn has worked professionally as an electronic technician, D.J, photographer, chef, yoga instructor, builder, and heavy equipment operator, but he is best known as "The Chainsaw Comedian". For twenty-five years, David entertained around the world: taking flowers from ladies’ fingers with a sixteen-foot bullwhip, shooting balloons off men's heads from a unicycle, even juggling an egg, torch, and running chainsaw! His passion for nature, architecture, and global travel (36 countries and counting) fuels his current project: a self-sustaining retreat center in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1998, while traveling in Tamil Nadu, India, he met Kumud. Two years later, David invited her to co-direct a yoga-video production in Bollywood; a week into the project they decided to get married. While helping victims of the 2004 tsunami in Asia, they decided to establish International Community, an organization that creates local green businesses in order to help the underprivileged and often-forgotten people with whom we share the (website hidden) Barn is a part of David's dream to share this area’s natural beauty and bring people from different walks of life together to learn, play, and grow. Kumud - I am a native of Coimbatore (India) where I spent a good part of my life growing up, schooling & teaching yoga. Stanardsville, VA although very different from my world in India, has become a wonderful haven and a place I am delighted to call home. Spent many years in customer service both here and in India, but now, mainly I spend my time teaching (email hidden) nearby. My other passions are dance, cooking and learning new languages. It has been fun exploring many different cuisines in this country which is such a melting pot of cultures. My joy of cooking has inspired me to teach some Indian vegetarian cooking classes as my schedule allows. Rural living has introduced me to cooking fresh from the garden, that I have learned to tend from David. We also love to travel, especially to warmer parts of the world over the cold winters here. We have created a urban suite with modern facilities amidst our beautiful quiet woods. We welcome you!.
