My cosy 1-bed apartment makes optimal use of space, offering a double bed, two bunk beds and a sofa bed within a modern and comfortable space, ideal to relax after a day on the slopes! Do you enjoy cooking and/or watching tv and listening to music?
hello! we got the first new snow, and skiing conditions on the glacier are already PHENOMENAL. More snow forecast soon, so the whole resort should open as scheduled on Nov 29th. This season my apartment is also advertised by a local agency, so be quick and book early to avoid disappointment!
the apartment's entertainment has been upgraded, it now features a MASSIVE 52" tv and a state of the art surround system. Check out the new picture!
The apartment has undergone a complete renovation, making it very stylish but also very comfortable, the ideal retreat after a tiring day on the slopes.
There is a separate bedroom, with a double bed, a sofa bed in the lounge that becomes a double bed and two bunk beds in the entrance hallway, to provide everyone with maximum privacy.
I would recommend a MAXIMUM of 4 adults and 2 children, it gets a little too tight with 6 adults in there...
The property features a flat screen TV, a surround system and wireless internet.
If you enjoy cooking you will appreciate the brand new kitchen, very functional and a pleasure to cook in. It comes complete with a dishwasher, so that you can relax and not think about the dishes!
There is a Nespresso coffee maker (needs capsules) and also an authentic italian coffee maker with digital timer, so that you can wake up to fresh coffee every morning!
A luxury rain shower and a bathtub make your relaxation complete, and a washer/dryer (extra charge) makes sure you never run out of clean clothes!
Location is great, you can walk to the slopes in a couple of minutes, the tourist office is right round the corner, just like the cinema, the supermarket and lots of bars and restaurants are within 5-10 minutes walk.
The underground car park (Golf) is a few steps away, but do not forget to book it in advance especially for peak weeks, as it often gets fully booked.
The Altibus bus stop (Tignes Val Claret) is also a few steps away, so very convenient if you are flying into Geneva and do not fancy renting a car.
There are FREE shuttle buses connecting the various neighbourhoods of Tignes, the shuttle bus stop is about 150 mt from the apartment.
Other Things to Note
SATURDAY changeovers preferred. Other days might be possible but please contact me first.
Tip: bring your favourite movies or TV series on a USB memory stick, you can plug that into the DVD player and watch them on the big screen! Also possible to connect your phone to listen to your own music, either via wifi or a cable!
Strictly no smoking and no outdoor shoes in the apartment please (slippers provided).
NO SKI/BOARD EQUIPMENT IN THE APARTMENT!
Although we didn't meet Gabriele face-to-face he was always very quick to respond to our questions / queries via email and text. He provided us with local information about ski equipment hire and ski schools, both of which were excellent. His large one bedroom ground floor apartment is perfectly located at the foot of the slopes (and ski lifts just a short walk away). The apartment is exactly as per the photos, and very comfortable. Gabriele's apartment was the ideal base for us with shops, restaurants, bars and the shuttle bus to neighbouring resorts all in very close proximity. All in all, a superb place to stay and highly recommended!
First of all, the apartment itself: Fully renovated and very modern, it’s refreshing to have such a well-furnished apartment in a French ski resort. WiFi, Huge TV (different than the first picture), Nespresso coffee maker, new bathroom etc, the flat has what you need to make you feel comfortable. It’s great for 2 people (which was us), likely ok for 2 adults and 2 kids with the foldable beds in the corridor, however I would say a stretch for 6.
Next, what you need to know: The flat is on the ground floor and by the building entrance that houses 100+ apartments. So you don’t have stunning views over the mountains and will need to keep blinds and curtains closed for privacy. Noise level is ok although you occasionally will hear children in the morning off for their ski classes or 'happy' people stumbling home at night.
Last, we unfortunately suffered both a heating issue over the first 2 days and a loss of hot water later on for 24 hours. Apparently these were building issues, however we had to find and buy an electric heater ourselves. At least future tenants will have this as a safety option should it happen again.
Communication was very quick with Gabriele, though we wish we had been provided with a solution for the heating rather than us having to go buy a heater since the agency had not replied and nothing was being provided.
All in all, a great little modern apartment, which would have been perfect without the heating and hot water issues.
Excellent stay, exactly as described. Great location, 2 mins walk to the town. Very comfortable apartment with everything you need.
Would definitely stay again.
Thanks for making it a great stay

Gabriel's place is a well-equipped apartment in a large purpose-built block located in a neighbourhood of Tignes up the hill from the lake and about 2 km (a 25 minute walk) from the central part of the main town. Nearby, there is a tourist office on the corner, a supermarket just across the road, two bakeries within 5 minutes, and a good selection of pizzerias and restaurants close by. The pizzeria La Pignatta (most smiling waiter and fantastic focaccia starter) and restaurant Karl Gustav (settle in for slow, quirky service but delicious food) are both recommended.
If you are here for the skiing in the winter, or mountain biking or hiking in the summer there is a chair lift just at the end on the road (free in the summer). There are two lifts nearby to take you down to (or bring you up from) the road below at lake level. You can take the further of these lifts (5 minutes walk) to get close to the funicular railway that takes you through a tunnel in the mountain up to the base of the glacier on Grande Motte; from there you can take a cable car further up the glacier (weather permitting; sadly it was not for us).
The apartment has pretty much everything we could have needed in the kitchen. Having a dishwasher made it easy to tidy up after meals and the provision of a washer / dryer was truly appreciated. There are also plenty of AV gadgets should you need to watch or listen while you cook or relax (and given the selection of reading material in the flat it would seem that Gabriel knows his stuff when it comes to music and recording).
The apartment is on the ground floor and near the main entrance to the building, which means there's not much of a view and the net curtains are a necessity; however we did not have any problems with noise.
This compact apartment was adequate for three of us, with enough storage for clothes, etc. I would imagine that things get pretty cosy with any more than three people staying. Although towels were provided, they were quite well used; you may wish to bring your own.
In summary, a delightful accommodation in a quiet little town (in summer). (unfortunately we did not meet Gabriel and so cannot comment on him as a host and guide).
Good stay at Gabriele's apartment, a bit small for a family of 4 in winter with skiing clothes... But very well equiped, very central. Don't forget to book a parking (Golf) ahead (coverded parking may befull).
