Our experience at Laurel and Eric's home was fantastic! They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable in their home in many ways. My husband and I along with our son were traveling to Blacksburg to pick up our daughter from a summer camp at VA Tech. It was my sons birthday and on arrival they had our room decorated complete with a Happy Birthday sign and balloons! What a sweet, thoughtful gesture. We were out late that night celebrating our sons birthday at the new upscale bowling alley/movie theater within walking distance from their home. We let ourselves in the house easily with the key pad combo provided to us and headed to our room for a good nights sleep. Upon our departure early the next morning there was delicious banana bread offered. We would not hesitate to stay with them in the future!
I stayed at Laurel & Eric's home during my daughter's orientation at Virginia Tech in early July. I've never stayed at a strangers house, so I was a bit apprehensive. Laurel's personality was so large and welcoming, I quickly felt as if I were staying with a hospitable friend. She welcomed, showed us around and entertained with stories of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech. She informed us of daily specials and entertainment around town. Laurel would make a great ambassador.
The next morning she had fresh muffins and coffee and entertained us with great conversation.
I would have to say that my experience was more pleasant than any hotel stay. I had a peaceful night sleep witch is not the case in many hotels.
I could not have asked for a better first time airbnb experience -- a clean and comfortable room in a house with a lot of character (and cute pets), in a nice neighborhood. But beyond that Laurel and Eric are friendly, interesting and generous-hearted people who make you feel very much at home. I enjoyed homespun touches like the chalkboard on the bedroom door with my name on it, the chocolates on the bed, and other small details that made the stay so much more personal. A resounding Five Stars!!
Staying with Laurel and Eric was the best first air bnb experience I could have asked for! The decorated chalkboard sign made me feel very welcomed :) The room was perfect - it provided a place for a peaceful rest after a long drive. Laurel baked muffins and made french press coffee in the morning that we enjoyed over a lovely conversation. I recommend Laurel & Eric's place if you find yourself in Blacksburg!
I didn't get to interact with them as I was pretty busy. What conversation I did have were great! I would defiantly stay here again! The room was very nice, bed is super comfy, and great location.
I am so grateful that my partner Leo booked the room with Laurel and Eric. These guys are awesome. We were met at the parking lot. I love how accomodating they are. The small welcoming board on the guestroom door, the loving banana bread and cherries on the breakfast table, the little note they left for us, were so cute and homey. It's a place full of love with a nice story in every corner of it. My partner and I kept talking about how wonderful that this couple letting us stay with them and being such good hosts. We'll definitely come back to Blacksburg and when we do, Laurel and Eric's will always be our first choice.
Lovely apartment, nicely kept. Laurel and Eric are the kind of folk you would enjoy as neighbors or friends. We would definitely book again.

About the Host, Laurel & Eric
We love traveling, running, volleyball, baking, gardening and playing with our non-human animal friends outside. Pretty laid back and quiet and love meeting people and hearing their stories.
