Torgo Talu Guesthouse sits in an old orchard by the Velise River where you can enjoy freedom from city life and immerse yourself in the simple pleasures of the countryside, but with WiFi.

The guest cottage sleeps four people comfortably, with a double bed upstairs and a pull-out sofa downstairs. The kitchen offers all the basics for cooking a great meal, including a grill outside. Use of the sauna is included in the price, and the hot tub can be booked in advance for an extra fee.

The space
This cosy riverside guest cottage offers the perfect weekend escape for couples, families, or a group of close friends. Located near Vana-Vigala, Torgo Talu is about one hour and 15 minutes from Tallinn and 45 minutes from Pärnu.

The guest cottage sleeps four people comfortably, with the possibility of adding a spare bed upstairs. There is a full kitchen with a mini-fridge, oven, four-burner stove, kettle, coffee machine and anything else you might need for self-catering, including coffee and tea. You're also free to help yourself to fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden.

You can enjoy the gardens, riverside terrace, take walks in the rural countryside, or fish in the river (please bring your own supplies). Couples can enjoy a secluded romantic weekend while watching the sunset over the meandering river. In the evening, relax in the wood-fired hot tub (€25), or rejuvenate in our traditional Estonian wooden sauna. Birdwatchers may see dozens of species right on the property or on a visit to nearby Matsalu National Park (20 minutes drive), one of Europe's best birdwatching sites.

Guest access
You can enjoy the entire property. If you'd like to have a sauna, just ask and I'll show you how to use it. The wood-heated hot tub is an extra €25 for the first use, and then 15€ per subsequent use (which can be paid in cash or via bank transfer). Feel free to help yourself to fruit and veg from the garden. The laundry is located in the main house, just ask if you'd like to wash some clothes.

Other things to note
At Torgo, you will meet my 2-year-old Welsh terrier Zorro. He is very friendly, doesn't shed and just wants to play. Should our pets not get along, it's not a problem to keep them separated during your stay. If you have any concerns, please ask before booking.

The river water rises and falls depending on rainfall. In summer, the water in front of Torgo Talu is usually shallow (i.e. up to your knees). If you'd like to swim, I know of a great secret swimming spot just up the river. Just ask, and I'll show you where it is.

I'm originally from Toronto, Canada, but my background is Estonian. I love travelling and exploring the cuisines of new places. I have travelled the world cooking and am now settled in Estonia where I work as a food writer. Staying at my place is relaxing and cosy. I love sharing a meal and many times my guests and I have cooked together, or shared a glass of wine, or two. It's a great way to learn about a new cuisine and get to know new people. I host a few different listings - a private guesthouse in the countryside near Vigala, two private rooms in an Old Town flat in Tallinn, and I also rent out my entire flat in the Old Town. I hate the word foodie, but that's what I am.
