About this listing
Located steps from Prospect Park and the Barclay center and subways, in the heart of Brooklyn, 25' from midtown Manhattan. This spacious sunlit french country style 1 bdrm , full bath and eat in kitchen ,garden apartment is in a quiet brownstone on a tree lined quaint neighborhood in the heart of Brooklyn. Steps from lots of shops and restaurants and lively nightlife. Ideal for a family or a group of friends to spend a week or several in New York. You get the best of both worlds, peace and quiet of a house with a garden and the convenience and proximity to the big City.
Common decency and respect for the space. You can have total privacy or be sociable : your choice.
Convenient and ideally located housing in hype Brooklyn!
We are a familly of 5 with 3 teenagers: we appreciated the space, the good quality of the beds and especially the garden where we could take our breakfast and rest after a full day of tourism.
The surroundings are georgious with all kind of outlets and with the subway you are rapidly in Manhattan.
We really recommand the place.
Spacious and well located. Two blocks away from various subway stations and one block away from shops and restaurants in each direction.
Very responsive, friendly and supportive host! We received good advice. Apartement met our expectations. More than enough space for three people.
We stayed for four nights and it was a great place to explore Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. Well equiped kitchen for self service, quite helpful if considering restaurant prices.
We didn't see Bernard when we arrived but the few times we did see him he asked us how our stay was going and was amenable. However, he said that he would leave us taxi details on our last day and didn't. Unfortunately the apartment didn't meet our expectations at all. We found the lack of any natural light very depressing, the paint work was coming off the walls, the whole apartment was very dated, there were several light bulbs that needed replacing, one of the blinds in the bedroom was broken, the paint was chipped from the bath showing black enamel below, there was a spider in my bed one night, there were a couple of black insects where the sugar, salt etc was housed in one of the kitchen cupboards, one of the kitchen cupboard doors came off when I opened it, part of the window in the kitchen clearly had been smashed and hadn't been replaced; instead it had been patched up with tape, the two dogs that belong to Bernard who lives upstairs barked into the early hours one night and kept us awake, no cable TV (we knew this to be fair as it was advertised without cable but think for this price it should have been included) and the basic channels didn't work as there was no reception, rust all the way up the shower pipe, rust all the way across the bottom of the fridge, all appliances really old, metal carpet grip between living room and kitchen - nail had come up therefore grip was bent up and my husband tripped and went flying - I am 23 weeks pregnant - imagine if that had happened to me?? The beds were very comfortable however and the shower good and powerful. We really enjoyed the neighbourhood - vibrant, lots of restaurants and bars, close to subway, easy access to Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn.
I am sorry that you had a bad experience. I am taking due note of your remarks and will address them before my next guests show up. It is very important to me that my guests continue to enjoy their stay here and I am committed to offer a comfortable accommodation.
My colleagues and I stayed at Bernard's apt in Brooklyn while we attended a conference in the city. Listing was accurately depicted, though it seems that he did some redecorating since he took the pictures on the site (e.g., red futon in living area now). The linens (i.e., towels, sheets) were all clean and the beds were comfortable. Note: the 2 queen beds are located in one bedroom. The apartment was located about 2 blocks away from the subway, which was nice as we were commuting every day. If you are a coffee lover, definitely visit the HungryGhost cafe (right around the corner from the apt).
