Although this is a quiet, family neighborhood, it is within minutes of everything, excellent restaurants, interesting shops, fabulous views and all of the surrounding ski areas. You will enjoy the privacy of a home with the special touches of someone who lives in it full time.
The bus stop is just a short one block up the street. It's about 10 minutes to Squaw/Alpine and 15 minutes. You need to have exact change for the bus. Taxi service or private shuttle is the best way to get from the airport, as the pickup areas are in Tahoe City.
Other Things to Note
This is a family-friendly home. There are games, books, and toys, including snow play, a big sunny deck and large backyard. Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets.
This is our family home, so we expect our guests to treat it in the same manner as we do. Absolutely NO SMOKING. There are two parking spots in the driveway, four if you squeeze. Snow plowing is done by the person who lives across the street, so you can always get out early. It's a great place for families, or for entertaining friends at small group gatherings. Holiday and special event pricing reflected on calendar.
Nan was extremely accommodating and very responsive to any questions we had prior staying at her house both by phone and email. Her house is situated in a great location just outside of Tahoe City and within walking distance to Lake Tahoe. Every morning we walked a half mile to a small bakery/coffee shop along the way to the beach. Her home was immaculate and comfortable.
Nan was an amazing host. She put in a lot of time setting up the house for us and truly have a beautiful home. She was accessible throughout our stay (even on the holiday itself). She provided us with tourist attraction packets and a list of things to do. The house was clean and located in a nice neighborhood which was close to the lake. Nan really took her time in organizing our stay and couldn't have ask for a better host. Highly recommended!!
The host canceled this reservation 26 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had a wonderful time in this lovely home. The home is functional and has just the right amenities (particularly liked the jetted bathtub). This home was perfect for our family (with two young children) for skiing - easy access to the Tahoe ski areas, within a 15 minute drive to Squaw/Alpine, Northstar, and Homewood. Would highly recommend!
We had such a delightful New Year trip at Nan's comfy home! She was very involved in getting our reservation set up and made sure everything was perfectly ready for our visit, down to the gorgeous bottle of sparkling wine and fireplace set up for an easy light. The location was perfect - close to town and a short drive to Alpine and Squaw, a short walk to the water. We love to cook and her kitchen is stocked with great cookware. The only thing we felt missing was more snow on the ground for the kids to play in!
What a comfortable home in the best location! Just a very short walk to see the Lake in its tremendous glory, and to get to lakeview trails from above, and a very short drive to ski resorts and wildlands just over the border in Nevada. Staying at Nan's made my first trip to Lake Tahoe extremely inviting. She is accommodating and keeps a warm atmosphere. After chilly winter days/nights out, her plush, carpeted home with the gorgeous pines around, fireplace, long couches, comfortable/warm beds, and high-backed dining room chairs (and not to mention very handy front "mudroom"), warmed us up inside and out.
Note: no paid cable TV - just the local stations. (But CD/DVD player works fine.) Wifi was very dependable.
Our vacation in Lake Tahoe was marvelous and Nan Brown added to the enjoyment. Her house was very accommodating with everything we needed. She even included lots of excellent reading books to read it just happened that our vacation was not longer. I would definitely recommend Nan and airbnb to anyone. My entire family was delighted of the trip.
About the Host, Nan
For years, Tahoe has been my family playground; now, I live and work here full time and the family loves to visit! "Living the dream............." Hopefully, you will love it, too!
My job is exciting as an executive recruiter; I love to travel, especially bike trips through Europe and other wine-producing countries. I am an avid skier, too, so the Tahoe lifestyle inspires me! Hopefully, you feel the same way and will come to enjoy!
