The Space

This cool studio is nestled right between the artsy Jamaica Plain neighborhood and busy central Boston. It's only five minutes' walk to the Green Line, ten to the Orange Line - with a biking/walking path all the way into town, only a half hour on foot or ten minutes by bike. Similar distances get you to Whole Foods, the beautiful Jamaica Pond, and the Sam Adams brewery!

For those with a car, parking is FREE on the street right in front of the apartment, with no need for a permit. You don't need a car to get around from here, though.

Length of stay is flexible - I've hosted people for one night up to three months.

Guest Access

Everything in the studio is private, just to you - even your own exterior entrance! The space has kind of a shotgun layout - with a full-size bed in one room, a desk and chair, plenty of storage space, and a shelf full of good books. Private bathroom and shower, mini-kitchen with two electric eyes, a sink, and a full-sized fridge. There's a nice two-person table to eat at in the kitchen. It's got great decorations and plenty of light, so it'll definitely feel like your home away from home!

Interaction with Guests

I'm just down the street from this studio, so it's easy to contact me for check-in/check-out anytime. I'm happy to be called up at any time, too, to answer questions or help you out finding your way to the best spots! Check out the pictures - and drop me a line if you're interested! I'm always happy to meet new people and help you get settled in this great city!

  • Good!!! Alisa was a very good host. The Studio is small, organized, clean and very close to the train. Is a perfect place for sleep and take a shower :-)

  • The studio was exactly as the pictures described and extremely clean and tidy. We got in later than we had said we would and she made arrangements for us to get the key. Communication was great. Will certainly stay there again

  • This was an excellent little studio very close to the end of the 'E' branch of the Green Line, which made it super convenient for traveling throughout the city! The studio is small, well kept, clean, and a perfect launching point for activities throughout the rest of the area. As advertised, its size was about perfect for a couple or a single occupant.

Our host, Alisa, met us at the door, was super friendly, and was very willing to give advice on how to travel around the city which made our arrival feel very welcoming. While we didn't interact with her very much after we 'checked in' she was very responsive and accommodating regarding the few questions/requests that we did ask of her.

All in all we had an excellent experience with this stay and if you are looking for a spot to spend your evenings, or a place to stay while you are in town for an event (in our case, a wedding), we would highly recommend that you give this little place a try.

  • Great little apartment. Quick access to the green line and Alisa was waiting when we arrived. Would definitely stay here again.

  • The hosts were great to deal with, though we never actually met. The place was exactly as described: a bit small and cramped (the place is clearly being used to store some furniture and boxes), a little dark, clean, toilet in a closet, good water pressure/plenty of hot water, the only sink is in the kitchen, comfy bed (though we were cold and had to bring in a blanket from the car), rickety stools at the kitchen table, hot plate worked well for cooking, though there are bars on the windows it is in a pretty nice part of town. It wasn't luxury accommodations but for the price it was quite fair. Better than a hotel.

  • exactly as listed and I loved it!

alisa was very responsive to my emails and texts regarding arriving and "checking in". thoughtful details and system for getting keys, etc...if unable/no need to meet.

it is a small students studio! if you want a hotel then pay for a hotel. this place was great for sleeping, showering, lite meals, and wifi. otherwise you should be out exploring boston! the T stop is two blocks away and the city is at your fingertips.

i'm already planning my next trip back and hope this place will be available!

Thanks for the good review. You were truly one of those rare guests who goes out of their way before they leave to ensure they had a low impact on the studio. We are serious when we say that you are welcome back anytime! Just give us a shout next time you feel like coming to town!

  • It was a great place to stay.

Great location, easy to access on the green line, and pretty easy to park around the apartment.

I must admit, due to finishing a few papers for my Masters, I was slightly hard to reach in the days before coming to Boston, but Alisa was really nice about it, and made it easy to get the keys. Would definitely go back at any point.

Love the touch of books and decorations.

  • This was my first time using Air B&B. We spent 2 nights in this apartment while visiting family/friends in Boston. Communication was great prior to the trip and for setting up check in and check out. Alisa was very accommodating to our needs. I did feel that the apartment was not very clean. It smelled heavily of fabreze (so it did smell clean), however, the floor looked like it had not been vacuumed in a while and the bathroom/shower didn't seem too clean. Things were arranged differently than in the photos. The door that another reviewer mentioned was covered by a bookcase, this didn't effect us much, but seemed a little disconcerting for security reasons. We didn't really spend much time in the apartment, so it suited our needs. Overall, we had a good experience.

We are glad your first experience with Airbnb was a good one. We both host and travel, so we have been experiencing it from both sides for a while now and we still love it. We're sorry you felt the studio was not up to your standards of cleanliness. Things smelled clean because they were. I cleaned the entire place the day of your arrival, as I do before every guest checks in. This includes the fresh sheets, vacuuming, cleaning all the surfaces and scrubbing out the shower and bathroom. I can't imagine what you might have found to be not clean enough. Some people prefer the sterility of the industrially bleached linens with no scent and annually replaced pristine appliances of hotels, which I understand. Airbnb is not that however. It is usually someone's home being offered up to you to use. Of course, they should still be kept well cleaned like ours is but it is a different experience from a hotel. If the hotel experience is what you're looking for, there are tons of great, very expensive ones here in Boston. If what you're looking for however is a clean and comfortable place to feel at home ... for a fraction of the price ... then places like ours are the ideal thing to look for.

  • We had a GREAT time in this apartment in Boston. The location is awesome, really 2 steps from the T and some other buses. Alisa and KC were fabulous hosts : friendly, helpful and quick. We thank them sincerely for that too ! We're eager to return to Boston and to that apartment. (The only little bad aspect about that studio is that it doesn't have a lot of light from the outside, so it is a bit dark. But, apart from that it is absolutely nice for 2 persons.)

Hi! I'm Alisa. I work for a PR agency and I'm completing my master's in journalism at Northeastern University in Boston. My home state is Alabama, and I've traveled a good bit, but never as much as I'd like to! I love to write, read, play French horn, and dance -- especially swing and blues. I live in Boston with my husband Kacey (newlyweds yay!). We both like good food and drink, good music and entertainment, and going new places with our friends. We're always happy to meet new people - whether traveling or sharing our own space with new friends!
