It's also close to many convention centers and if it isn't, every train line in the city is within two blocks.

You'll also have your own bathroom, use of the kitchen, your own shelf in the fridge, and access to a gym.

Thanks for looking :)

Guest Access

There is a lockbox on the door frame that has an attached key inside you can use to get in. Please ask for code if I don't provide. Also please leave key attached to lockbox--your key will be inside the unit on the glass end table at end of kitchen to left of door as you enter.

To re-attach lockbox face just re-enter code, put bottom back in place, push top lever down, and rock back into place. You can gew-gle "supra pushbutton lockbox instructions" if you need more help.

Once inside, you have access to everything but master bed and bath. I leave the bottom shelf of the fridge open for guest use. The building has a gym (two separate rooms), pool, grilling area on the 14th floor you can access with your key fob.

The door automatically locks so you don't need to lock it behind you.

Interaction with Guests

I am friendly but will leave you be unless you have questions. I have had guests that I have never seen. It will probably feel more like a hotel than a bed and breakfast.

The Neighborhood

In the heart of Chicago but on the 32nd floor so you can get away from it all if you so choose

*One block north of the Chicago River in the River North area of Downtown Chicago (Southeast corner of LaSalle and Kinzie St)

*All within a few blocks:
-Every el (train) line in the city
-Michigan Ave. / Magnificent Mile shopping
-Merchandise Mart
-The Loop (Central Business District)

*An amazing assortment of dining options to satisfy every palate and budget (Siena Tavern, Mercadito, Kinzie Chophouse, Fulton's on the River, Frontera Grill, Topolobampo, Chicago Cut Steakhouse, The Chopping Block, Protein Bar, Epic Burger, and much more)

*In the center of Chicago's nightlife. To name a few: Paris Club, Underground, Social 25, Rockit, Hub 51, Bar Louie, Moe's Cantina, John Barleycorn, Havana, and much more.

*You can find useful links on the condo website, search "The Sterling Chicago" for more info

Getting Around

You can find directions from the airport (or anywhere else) using the leading search engine's (it ryhmes with noogle, airbnb blocks websites) mapping tool--->it has options for public transportation as well as driving, walking, and biking. You can catch a cab outside the front door of the building at any hour and every train line in the city is within three blocks. There is a parking garage attached to the building but it is expensive, around $40/day.

Other Things to Note

Please read the itinerary and house manual before arrival, 99% of the questions I get from guests are on there.

You are welcome to drop your bags off any time the day of your arrival, and leave them in the apartment the day of your departure after check out. Just leave them by the door, and please leave the key for the next guest.

The unit is in a high-rise so if the door person stops you just let them know you're a friend of mine and I will have them let you up. If I'm not home I will give you the lockbox code to get the key to the front door.

Most of the lights have dimmer switches, which means there is a tiny slider next to the switch. If your lights are too dim, just slide it up.

The door to the unit automatically locks so you only need to shut the door.

House Rules
No smoking
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events
Check-in is after 3PM

*Please* read itinerary/complete description before arriving; 99% of the questions I get are on it!

You are welcome to keep your bags in the living room before check-in or after checkout if need be.

Please checkout on time (10 am) as there may be a guest after you and I need time to get the place cleaned. If there isn't a guest coming I can be flexible.

Please put your luggage on the provided luggage racks to prevent spread of bed bugs that may have attached themselves to your bags. Apparently they are everywhere, impossible to get rid of, and won't travel down luggage racks.

Please keep common areas clean, and please don't make too much noise after 11 pm.

I prefer guests leave their shoes by the door where I leave mine to avoid tracking in dirt, etc.

NO SMOKING cigarettes inside. You can smoke on the balcony but please dispose of all cigarette butts.

If you spill, I have things you can use to clean up. It's not a big deal. If I find it after you leave obviously I will have to charge. Please just be upfront so we can try to fix the problem together.

Lost key is $25, lost fob is $50; I have to pay to get new ones so I'm not making money.

I run my own real estate development company and buy and build property in the city. I love living in Chicago, particularly my neighborhood, and look forward to letting others experience it.

I try to keep a pretty regular schedule that has me up every day at 7 am and in bed by 10:30 or so.

I try to give guests their space, and I can be pretty introverted if I'm busy with work, so if I don't interact much it's me, not you! I'm happy to answer any questions about the city or anything that's not in the itinerary.

If you want to know anything in particular just ask!
