VIEW, VIEW, VIEW!

Every guest has commented on how the view is even better in real life and how they have had the best sleep in years! Could be the sound of the waves, or view of the sunrise on the water upon awakening and because the property consists of 2 acres of bird and animal life, the singing birds are a daily alarm clock. One thing is for sure the view and location is amazing amazing!

A guest mentioned recently the reason he thought the view was strikingly unusual from the unit because you can see the back of the wave as well as the front, so from the unit not only is the view the length of the beach and the coastline stretching to SF (including views of SF) but what's really remarkable is you see the back of the wave as it forms and the front as it crashes, it's a very unique view point. And to see the SF lights at night is fantastic!

Walk to the beach, world famous Zen center, bike and hike on Mt Tam!
Muir Woods is two miles away and San Francisco is a 30 minute drive.

From the bedroom and tiled outdoor sitting area view San Francisco and the SF lights at night. View the beach and ocean from every room. Fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves!

  • Where do I begin? This place really was magical...no hyperbole! I stayed for two nights as part of my solo west coast vacation to recharge my batteries. I wish I had booked this place for the entire trip. The views are real and breathtaking, the home is spotless and had everything I could ever want or need (but lets get real, all I really required was a wine glass and a place to cook), and Misti was kind, helpful, and funny. There was a ton of information left for guests regarding area attractions and highlights and Misti went out of her way before arrival to make sure I had everything I needed to arrive in one piece.

This home is secluded and takes a bit of work to get to, but that only adds to its charm. For all its seclusion, though, it's only about a 20 minute drive back to SF proper.

You fall asleep and wake to sounds of the Pacific Ocean, which is just a short downhill trail away. For anyone needing to get away - REALLY get away - this is for you. I will absolutely be returning next time I make my way west.

As a bit of an hilarious aside, the bed is HIGH. As in, I nearly had to take a running leap to get in (but I am 5 feet nothing on a good day). It wasn't until I was leaving that I noticed the little steps to climb in safely without sounding like an elephant. But for all you shorties out there who prefer to be dainty, the steps are there.

Thank you, Misti, for sharing your lovely home.

  • The Magical Muir Beach Getaway is in a stunningly beautiful setting right on the coast. The view is absolutely amazing and the flat/apartment is cozy , clean, and comfortable. We were really pleased with the setting and the flat itself.

The flat is located on the lower level of Ms. Norton's home and the house is built into the side of a high hill above the beach. This makes for gorgeous views but climbing the steps and ascending sidewalks to get the the flat is difficult. My husband counted 49 steps along with the ascending sidewalks in between the steps. If you have knees, hip, lung or heart problems you will want to pass on this property. Getting our luggage and groceries to the flat was time consuming and problematic. The private road to the flat is narrow and not always well maintained.

We did enjoy the beautiful views and the flat itself.

  • This place is absolutely outstanding. I really fell in love with it. The beach view is fantastic and the entire place is embraced by the sunlight and sound from ocean waves. Superb.

It's located super close to the beach and the best lookout point of coastal california. Also, it's close to muir woods and the giant redwood trees.

Misti is an excellent host. She was really helpful with advice on the neighbourhood. We had a lovely lunch at Pelican Inn thanks to her.

  • Misti Norton's place at Muir Beach, CA provided an awesome experience for my wife and I on our visit to the SF bay area. The views are priceless. Great opportunity for quiet beach time as well as great hiking and wildlife viewing. We also met several friendly neighbors.

The location also provided quick access to SF just to the south and Sonoma / Napa to the north. We we will always remember our visit, and hope to return some day!

  • Great, great place-quite large for two people. Beautiful views. The pictures do not do justice. Great place for people that love to hike and enjoy the outdoors. Great access to Muir Beach and close to Muir Woods/Mt. Tam.

The kitchen was great to cook in and again, the views are amazing.

  • This is a wonderful remote beach getaway so close to SF. The view of ocean, beach, and cityscape is amazing. It feels like your own little apartment on the ground floor of Misti's home. She was a lovely accommodating host. After check-in, I never saw her. The ceilings are a little low, so very tall people might be challenged. I loved having the steps down to the private side of muir beach just a few feet away. There are no stores or good restaurants close by, so bring your own food. If not, be prepared to drive up the coast to Stinson or back to Mill Valley for groceries or good restaurants. Highly recommend it!

  • Misti was extremely welcoming and she did us a huge favor by letting my girlfriend and I stay just one evening here. To be honest, I wish we'd booked for the full three day weekend, because this place is very cozy, well-kept, and the location is to die for. Seriously, the photos do not do the view justice!

  • Misti's downstairs apartment was perfect. The view were priceless, her communication was top notch, and the location was epic. The neighborhood her home is situated in is one of those places where you feel like you're stepping back in time and life slows down. There are many little touches and thoughtful pieces throughout the home. It's the perfect getaway for getting away from the hustle and bustle. I highly recommend the location and Misti as a host.

  • Thank you Misti for sharing your beautiful home with us! The view from the listing is breathtaking and you can hear the sound of the waves as you go to sleep. The kitchen is fully equipped. It's a short walk to the beach and hiking trails. I would definitely recommend staying at Misti's place for an unforgettable Airbnb experience!

  • We had a perfect stay at Misti's place. It was peaceful and simple and just what we were hoping for. The view from the bedroom was just breathtaking, at any time of day. Hearing the ocean when falling asleep and waking up was divine. The apartment was well-equipped and cosy for two. The small road to get to the apartment is certainly challenging, but not a big deal. We would recommend this to anyone wanting to experience the San Francisco area without being directly in the city. We enjoyed the short drive into the city across the Golden Gate Bridge too.

About
I’m a native of the area raised in Marin and Sonoma counties, the home is where my Dad was raised and where my Grandparents lived for 60 years. My Dad and I bought out his siblings about five years ago and I currently live in the upstairs. I have worked in the solar industry for the past 11 years and yes there is a PV solar system on the house. The house is very special to my family and me, not only because of the memories and history but it is truly magical here.
