Mille Grazie to Maltilde for a fabulous, quiet and private apartment with a Boboli and Bardinni garden view. The sun shines fabulously onto the bed in the morning and her kitchen is spic and span and delightful. The layout of the apartment plus the loft allows for lots of privacy if you have multiple people in your party. The stairs are 5 flights, so if you have access needs you might want to take that into consideration. The building itself is getting a wonderful coat of paint and new lighting in the halls. There are innumerable non touristed restaurants within 5 minutes walk and the entrance to the Boboli at the top side also has a lovely dog park, taxi stand and tripe sandwich trucks :)
It is a quirky little flat away from the rest of the tourist. It was quiet and clean that was just what I wanted for a holiday rental. The area is quite artisan with all kinds of little shops selling their handmade products. There was a nice bakery hand butcher near by. The kitchen lacked an oven but everything else worked well. It was very close to several museums and places that I wanted to see. I didn't use the bus that stops near the flat at all. It was so convenient to walk.
Matilde was very nice. She met with me the day I arrived. She had some wonderful suggestions as to where to eat away from the tourist spots. Very nice place to stay.
We stayed at Matilde's apartment for a little over two weeks and had a wonderful time! It is perfectly situated, especially since we desired to be away from the tourist hustle and bustle at night. The top floor location was very quiet and the view from the bedroom was unbeatable. Like others, we chose to sleep on the very comfortable pull out bed rather than the loft. A suggestion would be to add a couple of smaller comfortable chairs in the living/dining area because that is where the Internet is strongest, and it's a pleasant area to chill after a day of walking the town. Overall the apartment offered everything we desired and more. We found Matilde to be helpful and available for anything we needed. We would not hesitate to stay there again!
Matilde was fantastico.
She greeted me on the day before her wedding!!! and helped me haul my big bag up all the stairs. I was at school for one month so my bag was not tiny. The location is really the best for Firenze. So many good Trattorias and Pizzerias and easy bus transit on Via Romana or Via Serragli or car parking at Piazzale Michelangelo (easy bus back) or the Porta Romana pay parking lot.
At the start I did have a problem with the internet - with no service for almost 24 hours but Matilde and her new husband came the day after their wedding!!! before they left on their honeymoon and completely fixed it so I had strong service with no problem the rest of the time. Thank you Matilde- you are the best! She also brought me an iron and an extra blanket which I had requested and left very detailed contact information for her friend if I needed help while she was away- what a sweet heart!
I slept on the pull out couch the whole time and it was so nice to sleep on the lower level and the bed was very comfortable. I hope she will move the big bed there permanently =) and put a small couch in the main room ;) because I will be continuing my studies next year and would definitely stay there again!
It was quiet and peaceful
Again grazie mille
We had a great experience here. Highlights:
Mathilde was out of town; her mom waited for us (we ran a little late) and showed us in and called Mathilde for us when we had a question. So sweet.
Super location in the Oltrarno - far from tourist-clogged streets, a lovely 15-min walk to everything you want to see. Boboli garden view = UNBEATABLE
Washer worked great.
Hot shower, nice water pressure, good AC.
Clean, everything as described.
One note: Yes, the stairs to the loft are narrow; just be careful. Also, it took awhile for AC to cool off that upper area. Just let it run for a little before you go to bed. No big deal.
We loved the Oltrarno region! We would love to stay again.
Also, we recommend eating at 4 Leoni restaurant nearby. AMAZING.
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
You cant really get a better location in Florence - a short walk to the Pontevecchio and then access to all the museums. Do your homework as there is so much to see. Do not miss getting the Firenze card ahead of your trip - saves a bundle and avoids the lines (really a great tool to see Florence).
Apartment is on 4th floor so pack light. Well equipped, A/C is extremely helpful after a hot day and Matilde was very helpful and very available. We enjoyed our stay and the location worked out great.
This was the perfect place for the two of us in Florence. The rooms are small but the apartment has level and ceiling changes and because the kitchen and bath level divides the social area from the sleeping space, you have to move through the apartment to see it all. The location could hardly be better. It takes about 10-15 minutes to be past the Pitti Palace and on the Ponte Vecchio, and it took us about 25 minutes to walk to the train station. I don't know how anyone can do that in 10 minutes. Matilde was an excellent host. She gave us the keys and the only other time we heard from her was when she helped me retrieve my camera from the back of a taxi! I would never have seen that camera again without her help. A bakery is literally next door and the Il Centro market 3-4 minutes away in one direction and a fresh fruit and vegetable market the same distance away in the opposite direction. The apartment was very clean and the ac worked great. FYI, the remote for the ac opens to reveal additional (and important!) options inside. And after trial and error, we think the laundry detergent works in bin #2 (out of 3 options)! There wasn't a tv but we wouldn't have watched it anyway. We would stay there again in heartbeat. We loved it all!
For me this apartment is absolutely perfect - very quiet, convenient, well-designed. The view from the bedroom is amazing. I was very, very comfortable here and will definitely try to stay again when next I visit Firenze. Matilde answered all my questions and was extremely helpful at all times. When I had to modify my reservation she was gracious and agreed to the change without hesitation. She is wonderful!
