The Space

One fully furnished private room available in a 2 bedroom apartment. Great for couples or solo women.

(notes: Sometimes the room is occupied by a non-airbnb guest. Please contact me before booking. Certain higher priced dates are for entire apartment--ask if you're wondering.)

The Room:
-Fully furnished with full size bed
-Two large exterior windows - the room gets a ton of sun during the day, but burgundy black-out curtains shut out the light when you want to sleep in
-Flat screen TV equipped with Streaming Roku box
-A/C window unit for summer guests
-Clean sheets & towels in your room, basic toilet trees available in bathroom

The Apartment:
-2 bedroom 1 bath in Pre-war apt building
-3rd floor walk-up (no elevator)
-Spacious living room w/ 2 comfy couches, dining table, & 2 large windows
-Small Eat-in Kitchen - always equipped with coffee & tea that you are welcome to share
-Reliable Wifi
-Great ventilation & heat in the apartment--stays warm & cozy during the winter, breezy in the summer
-Several laundromats close-by with free pick-up & drop-off service.

Your flat-mate:
You will be sharing the apartment with one other woman, either me, a painter and art professor, or in most cases my housemate, a museum professional.

The apartment is in the heart of Long Island City…
-1 block from PS1 MOMA & just a few more to the newly renovated Sculpture Center.
-2 blocks from Vernon Blvd (the “main drag” of LIC)
-2 blocks from LIC Flea (open year-round)
-5 min walk from Gantry State Park (the new beautiful waterfront park), The Cliffs (biggest climbing gym in the tri-state area), Natural Foods Store, Key Food, Sweetleaf Coffee, and Duane Reade, among tons of other great restaurants, cafes, bars, art galleries, and shops.
-15 min walk from Socrates Sculpture Park & the Noguchi Museum
-5 minute bus/subway or 20 min walk to Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
-2 blocks from a UPS store-- will accept & hold packages from online orders so you don't have to stay home to wait for them)

-1 stop (5 mins) from Grand Central Station in Manhattan
-4 stops (10 mins) to Times Square
-20 mins to Penn Station.
-45 mins to JFK (direct trip on the E subway line)
-15 min cab-ride to LGA (~$15-$20)

We're the first stop in Queens on the 7, E, M, and G trains. The apartment is within a 2-5 minute walk of all 4.

Street parking is limited, but tends to be relatively easy around the neighborhood.

Interaction with Guests

I'm happy to answer any questions and point guests in the right direction depending on what you want to do during your stay. I teach upstate during the week, but I am always reachable via text or phone call. My housemate works just 2 subway stops away and is also available if guests need anything during their stay.

The Neighborhood

LIC is still a hidden gem in NYC. It is very quiet, safe, and low-key, yet just 5 minutes away from Manhattan. And we get beautiful skyline views from most of the neighborhood!

Getting Around

1st stop in Queens on the E/M/7/G trains!

House Rules

Since I live in a large apartment building, I just ask that you are respectful of neighbors, keep noise to a reasonable level, and try not to walk around with loud shoes in the house.
