Welcome to Sydney!
This is a very convenient place near local hotspots for a taste of the real Sydney experience. Located in the heart of Sydney's gay community and a short walk to the CBD, this Taylor Square studio is surrounded by awesome cafe's, bars and nightclubs.
The area is well-served by public transport with many bus routes through Oxford Street, to and from the central business district. The nearest train stations are Museum, Central and King Cross, almost of equal distance in different directions.
The studio itself is small but the furnishings make a great use out of the space, being comfortable and good value for the low price.
The studio is clean and nicely decorated, but the hallway and entrance to the building is slightly deteriorated in an art deco design.
LOCATION: Very centrally located within walking distance to most tourist attractions. Lots of public transport options nearby including buses, trains, taxi, and trams.
Connect to ferries by train, bus or longer walk.
CHECK IN - OUT: I like to be very flexible with check in and check out times when other reservations allow for it.
Check In is usually from 11am onwards.
Check out is usually by 10am.
When availability permits, check in and check out can be as early or as late as you like.
SAFETY: Sydney is a very safe city and there are no security or safety concerns. This studio is a great location to enjoy some nightlife, which is safe even for a woman by herself.
KITCHENETTE: Includes kettle, stove, fridge, some condiments, tea, and cutlery, plates, glasses, etc
BATHROOM: Includes toilet, shower, towels, body wash and toilet paper.
BEDROOM: Includes a small dining table with 2 chairs, side table, clean linen, heater and a comfortable bed which can be folded into a couch if required.
INTERNET: There is prepaid WIFI internet which works with every device. Sometimes there is credit left over from previous guests, otherwise it's easy to recharge online from $10.
OTHER FACILITIES: The studio has buzzer intercom access and the building has communal laundry facilities available downstairs at $3 per load.
Suitable for couple or singles.
COMPARISON: I have 2 studios only 1 block apart from each other. The main difference between the 2 studios are as follows:
This studio near local hotspots:
- Slightly cheaper per night
- Larger Kitchenette area
- Slightly smaller studio
- Older bathroom
- Older building with slightly deteriorated hallway
Other modern 7th floor studio:
- Slightly more expensive per night
- Smaller kitchenette area
- Slightly larger studio
- Larger and more modern bathroom
- Nicer and more modern building
Great little studio in the heart of Sydney's Eastern suburbs. It's small but does the job and Scott is a great host. Great value if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep as you explore the city.
I cannot recommend this studio. Although it is very close to downtown Sydney, which was great, it is way too small. The studio is approx. 12 sq. meters ( 108 sq. ft.) the kitchen area has just enough room for one person to stand and the toilet and shower are all one little closet. You have to remove everything from the bathroom when you shower. And did I mention that the shower comes out in a single stream and the hot & cold water are impossible to balance. Also, there is only hot water at the kitchen sink if you want a trickle and that is the only sink in the place. All that being said, the studio is very inexpensive for being in such a great neighborhood. And lastly, the host, Scott, was more than understanding and offered to refund my money for the last two nights if I wanted to leave. So, buyer beware and know what you're getting into before you book.
My boyfriend and I were in Sydney for a wedding and to see friends so all we needed was somewhere central, clean and convenient for to rest our heads and Scott's place was perfect. Yes it is small and the fridge is in the wardrobe but we didn't go to Sydney to spend all our time in the flat - it was just to sleep. Scott is so friendly and helpful. The flat was clean. There are really nice coffee shops about 100m away for delicious breakfast and everything you could want is walking distance away. Thanks Scott for making a very hectic weekend for us so comfortable and hassle free
Studio was in the perfect area for walking around - great restaurants and cafes in the area. Scott was a gracious host and gave us everything we needed for our quick one night stay. :-)
great location, close to supermarket and restaurants, clean and great for value, quite a walk to train station/public transportation. host very helpful and nice
A fantastic spot for either a solo traveller or very intimate partners, we found this place to be in very good, if a little cramped condition. There was a fridge in the wardrobe - unusual but workable - small oven/cooktop, combined shower and toilet room, and a very pretty breakfast table overlooking the intersection of bourke st and oxford street. There was towels provided, basic instant coffee/tea, and some jam left over from the previous residents. It took about 30 minutes to walk down to the opera house, and we were able to reach the ultra trendy bourke street bakery and crown street eateries within 10 minutes. Unfortunately we never got to meet Scott, but were kept in the loop by a friend of his. Overall this is a great spot to spend your nights, if you plan to explore the city by day. I would definitely return.
If you're looking for a very basic place, this is it. It's a double bed, a very small bar/table with two chairs and a wardrobe. You can cook your own meal in the tiny kitchen but the fridge is in the wardrobe.
Scott had asked a friend to let us in as he was out of town. That all went well. Upstairs we found indeed a very small studio!
The sheets were clean and smelled fresh and there were nice soft towels. Also, we were happy to find an adaptar so we could charge our European devices.
But, we didn't find the place very clean. There was dust and hair in the corners of the bathroom, a dead fly under the electrical heater and a few little ants under the table. We weren't too bothered about it 'cause we just needed a bed and wanted to cook our own meals as we travel for a long time and didn't want to stay in an expensive hotel.
So: if you look for basic it's fine. If you want more comfort: look for something different.
The pictures show the room quite well and description is pretty good. However, it says the kitchen has a fridge, I've never seen the fridge.
I haven't met Scott personally as he was away when I was in Sydney.
The room was not what I would call clean, probably because Scott was not there. The hallway is not the only slightly deteriorated part. Some part of the ceiling fell on the table close to the bed while I was sleeping and the floor boards are also full of marks and dents.
the shower had no pressure at all.
The location is perfect, it's true, right on Taylor square, and the room is on the 1st floor. Which make the night really noisy if you happen to be there on a weekend. And as there is no A/C, if you're too hot the only solution will be to open the windows, so think about taking some ear plugs.
Overall, for the price you might be able to find some cheap hotel room
My wife and I had a great stay at Scott's studio. It is located in an excellent location and is a great value for Sydney. The bed was very comfortable and Scott is an amazing host.
Super nett und hilfsbereit, Studio klein aber sehr fein mit toller Lage, sehr zu empfehlen!!!
