The Space

Seastone House, a large stone home, located in one of Ireland's most exquisite areas, is a unique, warm and comfortable luxury home on a hill overlooking the harbour of Dingle Bay. It is totally private with large garden and water and mountain views from every room in the house, all accessed by French doors to lower and upper balconies. The large, modern kitchen has seating for four with every amenity one could possibly need. There is also a large formal dining room, half bath and lovely salon with large fireplace for evenings in front of a hot peat fire, all looking out over the harbour. Upstairs each room also has its own balcony. The master bedroom is en suite with full bath, fireplace and balcony, and the second guest bedroom also has its own balcony and shares a full bath with the office. The office couch also has a pull out bed which is most comfortable. All beds are queen size. Views from all three balconies upstairs are spectacular. The home is beautifully and comfortably furnished with over-stuffed couches and chairs, TV, internet and every modern convenience. There is also a good supply of DVDs and VCRs for the guests enjoyment. The delightful town of Dingle is a 15 minute walk or five minute drive away where there are some of the best restaurants in all of Ireland. The Dingle pubs are also great for good food, as well as good Irish music and there is no lack of them in the town. As for a bit of shopping, the many shops carry both traditional and luxury items - you won't have to leave town to fill your suitcase with the best of Ireland. And there is a lovely pier walk which is breathtaking, one of many walks in the area within minutes of the home. The crisp, pure air and Atlantic breezes make it one of the cleanest and healthy places on the planet to live, or visit. You are only an hour away from such renowned treasure spots as the Lakes Killarney, or the Ring of Kerry and only 20 minutes from the wild and beautiful Slea Head Drive which has some of the oldest antiquities in all of Europe. If it is castles or dining, walking, horse trekking, hidden beaches and inlets or boating, this lovely place has them all, including its own world famous Dingle Dolphin by the name of Fungi, who just loves to accompany the boats, or swim with those who want to don a wet suit and get into the clean, beautiful waters. Or, should you feel less adventurous, evenings in front of the fire with one of the many books in the library is just the thing. This is a hneymooners dream, or an adventure of a lifetime, or both!

  • Seastone House and her host, Marilynn are a perfect combination. Marilynn, through her emails, is wonderful at making you feel welcome and detailing all the amenities the house has to offer. She freely gives suggestions for touring/dinning. There is a greeter on hand when you arrive to walk you through the house and make sure you know where everything is and how to use it. THE HOUSE IS AMAZING. It is such a comfortable place with beautiful views out every window. It is located on a quiet lane where the only sounds are the birds and the cows and sheep grazing in the meadows.
We were in Ireland for 2 weeks and Seastone was our home for 5 nights. It is a perfect place for relaxing, day tripping, fine dining, traditional music, shopping and the list goes on and on. Not to mention the laundry facilities in the basement where you can freshen up your suitcase! Hopefully the opportunity will come for the 4 of us to return to Seastone and Dingle.
Well done, Marilynn! Thank you for sharing Seastone with us.

  • Seastone House was as advertised; beautiful house, great location, accommodating host. All four decks have gorgeous views, easy walk into town, a little hilly on the way back but not bad at all. The house itself was lovely and we miss it already. Dingle itself has something for everybody, we particularly enjoyed the "fast boat" to Blasket Island (Marilynn's notes mention it), a fishing trip off Dingle Bay (we caught more than enough for dinner for four), and the music. If trad music is your focus, try one of the concert settings at the church or the local music shop. These are more music sessions with an audience than concerts. The music in the pubs is excellent and varied but there was a lot of noise in most of the pubs we visited.

  • I don't believe we could have picked a better place in all of Ireland to stay. The house was very cozy with amazing views! The pictures just don't do it justice. It's only about a 5 minute walk into the small, friendly town of Dingle. Everyone we met was overly nice and accommodating. I loved the small town feel and being away from all the hussle and bustle of the bigger cities. Did I mention the amazing views?!

We weren't able to meet Marilynn in person but she was an excellent host from afar. I spoke with her on multiple occasions and she is a very sweet lady with lots of suggestions to offer.

If you are looking for a great place to stay while in Ireland, this one should be at the top of your list!

  • My wife and I stayed in Marilynn's home for five days over New Year's Eve. We loved every minute of it! The house is incredible, the pictures on the website do not this house enough justice. The views from each room are spectacular. The location is perfect, with only a short walk to the town (less than 10 min). The little details made our stay extra special, Marilynn's friend Kathleen welcomed us on arrival (a 5 star hostess), cake and chocolates in the kitchen, super cosy beds, and everything else to make our stay so special. Dingle is and incredibly special place (speaking as a well travelled Irish couple) and this house is the perfect place to stay.

  • The house was wonderful and Marilynn Ahlin, our host, was so very thoughtful and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much. Although November is a slower time of year for the Dingle Peninsula, we felt that was an advantage in that the roads and venues were never crowded. Dress warmly!

  • What can I say, Marilynn has a lovely place in a lovely part of Ireland. This was definitely one of the highlights of our whole trip. Marilynn was an absolutely wonderful host and a lovely person to meet, and talk with, and was most accommodating. She thought of all the little things that it your home away from home.
It's about a 10 minute walk to town & another 5 minutes down to the waterfront. Dingle is a great town. Slea Head Road is great, and the beginning of the Ring of Kerry is not too far by car.
Lovely person, lovely place, lovely part of the world.
We definitely look forward to going back there in the future.

    Response from Marilynn:

Dear Amelia and Keith, Thanks so much for the great review. I loved our talks and so hope that one day we can have opportunity to meet again. You both, along with your two great kids, were such incredible guests. I could not have asked for more considerate people to be in my home. When I returned after you had left, there was hardly anything left to do! You are invited back, anytime.
Blessings on you and your family, Marilynn

  • Marilynn's home was a great place to start our trip to Ireland. The home is beautiful and comfortable. It has great views and is a perfect location for use as a base for day trips or just enjoying Dingle. Dealing with Marilynn was a joy. She was easy to communicate with and full of information on the town of Dingle. We fell in love with Dingle and will surely return. Our stay was in late September. Thank you! Doris

  • The Seastone House was amazing, so comfortable with everything we needed and more. The setting was so serene just the right distance from town. Marilynn and her caretaker were very helpful upon our arrival and provided valuable info regarding sightseeing, restaurants and shopping. We loved the layout of the house, it provided plenty of space for everyone, had awesome views out of every room with private balconies. Can't wait to go back!

  • The Seastone House in Dingle far exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful house with very comfortable beds, linens, etc. The kitchen is well-equipped and we cooked breakfast for ourselves and even dinner one night. We enjoyed walks along the lane above the house and the gorgeous views of the meadows and the bay below. It rained hard one morning and we were so pleased to be in a warm, cozy house rather than at a hotel of b and b. Our compliments, Marilynn Parker Hall

  • Staying at Marilynn's place was definitely one of the best parts of our whole Ireland trip!

First... the views! From the deck (and from a balcony off each room) you have a beautiful sweeping view of the Dingle Bay and green pastures with happy Irish cows grazing away.

The location is perfect... just a short walk to main street so you can enjoy yourself at the pubs and not worry about driving back.

Inside, the house is gorgeous, spacious, and very comfortable. We felt at home the whole time and Marilynn's property manager Kathleen was very helpful and responsive.

We would recommend this place highly and hope to come back someday.

Thank you so much for your kind review Dave. It simply delights me whenever I know a guest has had a wonderful holiday at my home. I am in love with it and when I'm there, its always a joy. So knowing others can have the same happy experience is the best gift they can give me. Hope to see you at Seastone House again one day. Marilynn

I'm an Irish mom, and a grandma who loves going on adventures, often with one of my daughters or a granckids. I've always loved hospitality, running a b&b for 8 years on Vashon Island (still have a lovely cabin there which I rent). I've also lived 14 years half time in Jerusalem, Israel, where I worked in communities that were quite poor and also wrote stories for two different Christian organizations. Traveling is one of my life's greatest joys, but writing is my passion. Have just finished a book of Israel's stories and now hope to do the same with some Irish stories and legends. I built Seastone House to be a haven and a retreat for me with the hope of being able to share it with others who would love it as I do. While I now live part time in Ireland, I also loved living in Israel and often travel there from Ireland for visits. Being in Dingle is one of my chief delights and I never tire of my Seastone House or the picturesque town, or the absolutely lovely people who have so kindly included me as part of this community. Dingle has so many beautiful, cultural spheres and so many ancient antiquities that I have yet to visit them all. And the beauty of this area would inspire any traveler. I do love being in the hospitality business, and serving people, knowing that I have been able to help create a happy time apart for them as they travel. Each guest is my priority and my desire is that every one will come away happy, rested and (email hidden) on life, and a story to tell. I know my guests will feel welcome and happy here at Seastone House, as am I when in residence. airbnb suggests that we hosts tell you about other things we like. And that can be a long list, so here are some of my special delights: knowing God and knowing He knows me; my family and my "adopted" families; seeing children happy and free; writing; telling stories; reading historical books - simply love history; teaching (sometimes give seminars); swimming; biking; cooking; learning-anything; going to school-still do; hospitality-any time I can share what I have with others; family gatherings, especially if at my house; Christmas; Chanuka; all forms of beauty, especially of character; Dingle Peninsula; Ring of Kerry; the Jezreel Valley; Jerusalem; water in any form-lakes, ocean, streams, water falls; quiet times apart. Hope you dear readers now know who your hostess is and if I can create a "place apart" for you in Ireland, I would be honored.
