Holy moly this house is the icing on the cake!! The pictures do not even come close to what you really get in person, the views are out of this world. Pool is nice and refreshing after a trek in the woods, and the hammock is a lovely spot for an afternoon siesta. Definitely worth every penny!
The kitchen is well equipped to make anything you desire. Even espresso and smoothies!
Jose is super nice and showed us the ins and ours of the house upon arrival and cleaned the pool daily.
I will say, that the hike to the beach is not the easiest and kind of confusing With a lot of trails and no real trail markings, you may find yourself wandering upon someones house or even trespassing onto the neighboring Rancho Santa property (and yes, there are guards, even on back trails). But you will see lots of crabs, butterflies, and even maybe a howler monkey!
This was the perfect last stop on our tour of Nicaragua. Perfect place to unwind and enjoy the jungle. Just keep in mind... It is an open house so if you're afraid of bugs, lizards, katydids or even the stray neighborhood kitty that liked to visit, this place may not be for you!
We spent 3 days at jeff's place and it was awesome. Sure it's difficult to reach, sure you have to plan for your food there but it worth it.
The place is incredible.
We loved our stay at casa fresca! The house and view was beautiful and there was always a nice cool breeze.
Two times vi had visits from the howler monkeys that came right up to the trees around the deck!
José showed us the hike to the beach (approx 20 min) and then another 10 min to the beach club restaurant which served cool drinks and good food! (10$ pr dish).
Casa Fresca was exactly as shown in the pictures. We spent three nights here and loved every one of them. The openness of the house and its closeness to nature was amazing. We had a rental car and went to the beach daily (approximately a 5 min drive) however, you could spend the entire time at the house and be happy. The house is situated at the top of a valley and was quite windy which is nice and refreshing during the day and cooling at night. The sun rises early here and is shining directly on you which causes even non-morning people (like us) to rise early. The house is in the shade by around 9 or 10 and makes for a nice morning nap after you have woken up and made breakfast etc. Jose (the caretaker) came by daily to clean the pool and check to make sure all is well. He is a nice local man and is there to help. We definitely recommend staying at Casa Fresca.
Jeff was great. He was always quick to respond to any questions and very helpful. The home was downright amazing. If you stay here be ready to be a bit adventurous if you are a city slicker. It is a step up from Glamping, but still an open wall. The views are stunning, really no bugs. Claro has a stronger signal here than my cell carrier does at home, so if you want to remain connected just pick up a sim card.
Couldn't have had a better time staying at Casa Fresca. Perfect location within the Iguna compound (security gate, access to Playa Colorado, Hacienda Iguana and the NSR Surf Shop). The house was amazing- every bit as beautiful as the photos even in the dry season (less jungley). Tucked up at the end of the dirt road on the hill, it's quiet and secluded. We picked up grocerys at the MaxiPali in Rivas, and cooked most meals at the house. Rented motorbikes from NSR and followed a little trail map they had to some pretty delicious Nicaraguan restaurants and towns (Yolanda's Cafe, Magnific Rock, El Gigante). This was one of my favorite holidays yet! Thank you Jeff and Jose for hosting!
We had a great few days at Jeff's, we drove down from Granada and it too around 3hrs in total which wasn't to bad, following signs to Hacienda Iguana from Tola onwards. The place itself is stunning (living up to the photos), with great views out to the coast and across the valley. It was beautiful at sunrise and sunset looking out and hearing the howler monkeys in the trees below. The place was well maintained by Jose, who was there on arrival to greet us - we arranged with him what time he would come each day to clean the pool etc. The kitchen was well equipped with gas hobs, fridge, small oven and all necessary utensils, there was also a good supply of drinking water which was useful if you don't trust the tap water.
We walked down to Playa Iguana one morning which took around 30 minutes, the beach was lovely but make sure to bring your own food and drink as there's no cafe on the beach itself. We also drove across to Playa Gigante one day which is also nice has has a few cafes and bars along the beach.
We had a great time, and for two city dwellers it was great to be so detached from the hustle and bustle, it really does feel quite remote. Thoroughly recommended.
