We are a non-smoking B&B.
Our first experience with Air bnb was at Bastiaan's place. He was most helpful even before we arrived with local advice via email. Upon our arrival we were shown all the features of the apartment and given advice regarding vicinities in the local area.
We were provided with food basics for coffee and light breakfast, warm bread rolls was a very nice gesture.
Tourist brochures are also provided which made planning easier.
Ideally located and will stay there again if the chance arises.

My wife and I had a very pleasant experience staying in Bastiaan's studio. Bastiaan welcomed us upon our arrival and made us feel right at home. He stocked our fridge with coffee, juices, meat and cheese and left us warm rolls in the morning for breakfast.
The apartment itself was clean, in a quiet area and the bed was extremely comfortable. Location was perfect for us- close enough, yet far away enough, from all the night time action and very close to some excellent restaurants. Overall a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend staying here.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE OR RISK BEING INFECTED BY THE PLAGUE
We arrived and were greeted by Bastiaan's partner. We got a very brief overview and were left to our own. We had some snack and breakfast provisions that were very appreciated.
Our first night was horrible, the sheets were not clean and the noise from the apartment above was ridiculous.
Our second morning we awoke to construction outside our bedroom window. A heads up would have been nice. Plus my husband had bites on hi. That we though may have been fleas or some Mosquitos.
Our third night the bed bugs came out. My husband was eaten alive from head to toe. DISGUSTING. Imagine how filthy things must be to be eaten alive by these vermin.
All the while, no response from Bastiaan.
I find it impossible to believe that we were the first people affected by the infestation. So they are taking bookings and having people stay in the apartment knowing its full of bed bugs.
On departure, we came out to construction and the door taped off. Bastiaan finally revealed himself and laughed that if we had of been any later we wouldn't have been able to get out as there were temporary steps in place which were about to be removed (a metre and a half drop to the street). Again, some common decency and courtesy would have been appreciated, giving us notice seems to be the honest and logical approach.
He again never replied to my email when I informed him of the bed bug infestation.
My husbands bites were so bad we had to seek medical advice at our next destination.
NO APOLOGY, NO RESPONSE
Unless they throw out all mattresses and bedding and adjust their "customer service" I would absolutely not recommend staying here.
On a positive note, the apartment is located in a great neighbourhood and perfect location.
Unfortunately, the noise from other apartments above us in the building meant we didn't get much sleep either.
Disgusted and disappointed.
Hi Emma and Rob
I am sorry to hear about your complains, that I was not aware of at time. Somehow your mail did not reach me. This is the first time we had complains like this.
Too bad, that we did not have a chance to talk about this, during your stay.
We loved being on a canal in a beautiful part of Amsterdam. Bastiaan met is and helped us by lifting hour cases up the stairs. (Only a few but very steep) and explaining how to use the coffee machine and where to find local services. He was very pleasant and helpful. We only saw him on one other occasion during our week's stay.
